“Okay… fair, but you don’t have to drag me for it!” Avrielle fake pouted, but the smile on her face that overcame that was enough to give her away quickly for not really having her feelings hurt by Dom suggesting that her overzealousness for spoiling herself wasn’t exactly a shocker to him. “I honestly don’t know yet? I kinda wanna have a birthday party with a few of my friends, like a joint birthday party, you know? Some of my friends with siblings did that growing up and they always hated sharing the spotlight but I feel like it’d be so fun!” Her only child syndrome was definitely speaking for itself as she admitted the vague idea she had for how she wanted to spend one of the biggest birthdays of her life. “I’ll let you help me plan if I decide to, for sure.” She added on, running her fingers back through her hair and pushing it away from her face. “I’m glad yours was chill! Mine was… okay. Dunno about everything I dreamed of, parents kinda pissed me off, but what else is new.” She shrugged it off, not wanting to linger too long on the subject of how weird her mom had been toward her during Christmas, and in the weeks before she’d come home to celebrate.

“hey,” the boy protests, laughter attached to his words, “i would never drag you for that. in fact, i think one of your best qualities is that you know what you want. spoiling yourself for your birthday is exactly what you deserve.” though laughter followed, dominic truly meant it. he knew he didn’t have to express that with her, though, avrielle knew that the boy would forever be straight-up with her. it was why their friendship worked so well. “a joint birthday party could be fun,” he agrees, nodding his head. “i think having those as an adult is much easier than having them as a kid,” he admits. children were never keen on sharing the spotlight with anyone or anything, it was something he was learning rather quickly with penelope. “whatever you need, i’m your guy. plus, you still need to give me a few hints of what you physically want. you know i’m crap at figuring out great birthday presents.” dominic could kill it in the sentimental present game, but when it came to physical things? he couldn’t for his life figure that shit out. if avrielle didn’t help him, he would be sure to annoy one of her girl friends about what the perfect gift would be. “well, on the bright side, at least the holidays are over. now it’s time for the real relaxation, post-family time.”

amelia knew if things hadn’t work out it had been her fault, she had let go a beautiful thing but her insecurities floated making her run away the moment she started to feel like things were ‘too serious’. she keeps regretting it.

it shouldn’t surprise dominic that the two have run into each other ( quite literally, might he add ). while new york city is huge, the boy has found in his time living here that it was hard to avoid anyone in this city. sooner or later ( and with dominic’s luck it was sooner ) they were bound to run into each other. better to rip the band-aid off now, right?

“i know you well enough to know that okay is never a solid answer.” his words come out before he has time to think about them. it’s what has worried him about seeing amelia in the first place. he’d never been good at hiding his emotions or what he really wanted to say. “i’m good,” he hummed quickly, nodding his head a bit as he shoved his hands into the pocket of his sweatshirt. “you look great too.” he knew that her slight compliment was just out of kindness, but he meant it. she looked great.

vera playfully rolled her eyes at his teasing , as she took another sip from her champagne glass . “ well , that was nice of you to say . but , i tend to impress easily . “ she shrugged , giving him a small smile as a laugh escaped her lips . despite whatever drama was surrounding vera’s life , getting to spend time with dominic was probably the best remedy for her . when she thought of drama , she definitely didn’t think of him & she knew it was about time she surrounded herself with people just like him – it also helped that vera was attracted to him . “ okay , now listen . last time i tried sneaking in – i got caught . so , let’s hope that doesn’t happen this time . “ she responded , grabbing his hand and pulling him off the bed . “ let’s goooo. “ she said , leading the pair out the door and on the way to the pool .

“you say that as if i don’t already know that, vera,” he laughed, mimicking her eye roll with one of his own. everything the girl did was impressive to not only dominic, but the world around them. that was evident from one scroll through her social media accounts. finishing off the last of his drink, dominic allowed for his hand to be intertwined with hers and she dragged him off the bed and out the door of her room. “something tells me even if we get caught, all you’ll have to do is bat your pretty eyes and flash a smile and we’ll be fine.” dominic wasn’t entirely sure that would work, but if he were the one in charge it definitely would. “besides, living here should mean you get full access all the time. fuck the rules.”
