“I have a riddle for you -- what is greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it, the rich need it, and if you eat it you’ll die?”
“Isn’t that the same thing or no?”
“One isn’t insulting.”
“… Did you subscribe yourself medication?”
“I think the word you’re looking for is prescribed.”
“Sure, why not?”
“Thank you for the please, m’lady,” he joked, giving her a mock bow before holding out his arm.
“I’ll keep that in mind,”
“You do that m’dear.”
“Seriously? I guess it’s late enough that everyone’s out at the carnival by now. I should expect lines everywhere hm?” She said, smiling at Xeno.
“Middle of the afternoon, I imagine so. The children are awake, the day is at it’s peak, and lunch is over,” he responded, smiling back at the redhead.
“So is it bad that I didn’t let that kid win the game? I feel kinda bad now about it. But I really wanted that stuffed tiger for absolutely no reason whatsoever so it could have been worth it in the end.”
“I’d say the reason you’re feeling bad is the result of your superego, but your the reason for your desire is you id. Whatever the case, at least you came out with something for it.”
“…. You’re a shrink aren’t you?”
“A psychiatrist, thank you very much.”
“When is the day you will learn personal boundaries?”
“Personal boundaries are all a matter of the superego.”
“…Warm?”
“I’d think humid considering the amount of rain.”
“I’ll take your word for it. Everything is all over the place.”
“That’s how fairs usually are,” he said, shrugging. “Want to join me in looking?”
I think this might be the first spring carnival we’ve had where is actually felt like spring.
“What is your definition of a spring feeling?”
“Why is there always a ferris wheel and never enough elephant ear stands?”
“Because the ferris wheel is associated with positive connotations and because everyone’s definition of ‘enough elephant ears.’”
“Where is the ribbon I need to cut?”
“When is the day I will get to examine your ego?”
James walked around, taking the carnival in. He had the day off, and had promised his friends that he would not walk around, acting like the law all day, but he was definitely watching, still. After grabbing something to drink, he stood watching. “People seem to be having a good time.”
Xenophilius came to stand beside the police chief, a grin on his lips. “Of course they are -- warm and sweet food, games to play, and people to enjoy the day with.”
Narcissa’s eyes scanned the booths around her as she walked, doing her best not to get lost in the crowds of people. “One of the best things about this is all the sweets, but I never know what to pick. There are so many options.”
“I don’t know how you don’t go with the cotton candy first -- it’s a carnival classic,” Xenophilius said, grinning at her.
“Someone point me towards those balloon dart things please.”
“I haven’t found it yet either, but I’m guessing that way. It’s where the booth games are -- I think.”
