Icon project from Image Design! We had to create an icon family based off of the 7 deadly sins plus an umbrella icon to unify them all, so I went with an 8bit sort of RPG classes theme! I really enjoyed creating these though, may have to look back into pixel art some more.
First project from Image Design-- we had to digitally recreate a celebrity’s photo and create a magazine cover featuring them. I chose Serj Tankian from System of a Down and took a mosaic/puzzle piece like approach that took SUCH a long time, but the end result was fantastic and very photo-accurate. My magazine brand that I chose was Spin Magazine, which required studying their branding in order to create something believable.
Our final project in Visual Thinking last semester-- recreate a Shakespeare play as a metaphor. I chose the Merchant of Venice and used the birds as metaphor for the heroine and antagonist. I liked the unintended style of the old fantasy paperback books, which I only realized after it was done..!
Third project in Type 2. We had to choose an issue or cause and create typographic metaphor to talk about it. We started with a body of text for our first one, focusing on only words for the second, syllables for the third, and a letter for the fourth. Obviously, I went with urban farming! This one was fun colorwise because I loved the greens and browns working together so richly.
First project in Typography 2! We had to take a weather report and create a typographic visual of the text in three parts: one all text, one text and graphic, and one with text and photo (and graphic if desired).
Meat Your Demise: This was a multiple step project-- first we drew two words out of a stack (I got voracious & pugilist), then we had to create a "new" object based off two things relating to the words we chose. Then, we had to draw up a fake magazine spread with a story relating to the image, and use it as the main image in the spread. I went a little pun-heavy but I couldn't help it... it was too good to resist!
101k: Making a magazine collage featuring 2 objects and one background, then brainstorming and creating a business/brand logo based off of the objects combined.
Details from the North and East panels of Four Corners!
Details from the South and West Panels of Four Corners!
The panels are nearly complete!! Now a loong break while I decide what to do with the trunks & circles. ^v^
Detail shots to follow later on!
OC Request
1. Simile Poster: Create a visual simile using photo collaging. "Smooth as stone" or something along those lines here. I focused on planar shifts under the skin and used photos of Antelope Canyon from the web that I digitally cut up and arranged over my planar shifts sketch/study
2. Photo Collage: Take multiple photos of a place or thing and collage them digitally in photoshop-- no cropping or correcting allowed!
