Nightmare Before Christmas Starters

jack was more than aware of the reputation the kids had around town, and rarely approved of or appreciated their antics. he previously hoped that oogie’s death would result in them no longer desiring to pull pranks, but they quickly proved that the pranking and torture was a part of their nature. jack admired their tenacity, and not much else.
fortunately for lock, jack didn’t mind that they took off their masks. it’s not like he couldn’t recognize each kid without them. but then again, he never expected them to modify themselves. lock’s additions to his face almost made jack do a double-take. his pointed ears, the piercings on his face; if jack had eyeballs, they’d be bulging.

with an iron grip kept on lock’s wrist, jack’s other free hand went to poke and prod at lock’s piercings, wondering if they were indeed pierced in his skin or glued. if lock were to think jack was disapproving of the modifications, he’d be wrong; in actuality, he finds them fascinating and fitting for the boy.
Without a doubt the death of their boss only made them continue their actions, as if they thought he was always watching somehow, that he was going to find a way back and learn that they tipped the mayor off on where Jack, Sally, and Sandy Claws were. So they continued doing their jobs as Lock and Barrel did love doing it, Shock was simply still just doing the job.
Lock felt the glance on him instantly and the hands came to his ears, a dark gray now for his flush as he realized that they weren’t covered by his mask. How did he not remember that his mask didn’t cover his ears, what a ditz ! He cowered a bit at the look that the skeleton was giving him, some how ready to recoil and ready to get yelled at.
“ N-No, people do it for you over there. ” He admit, flinching at the hand still on his wrist and the other poking at his piercing. Sighing, Lock went to move his mask with his free hand to show the rest of them since Jack was just so curious, but also the leftover blood on his chin and jaw. The tallest was always a curious sort of guy, hence the whole Christmas situation happening in the first place. If there was anything more in the world he hated more than hands being laid on him in a scolding manner, it was it being done by Oogie or Jack.

despite the liveliness in town, jack found it was time to take a long stroll outside. when bogged down by something, he preferred being alone to his thoughts, away from any crowds. even though he had explored outside the town countless times in the past, he always felt that he would someday find something new, such as that one fateful night brought him. perhaps not as exciting, but different nonetheless. this hope, along with an appreciation for nature, lead him to thoroughly enjoy his silent walks.
any strange or unsuspecting noise drew jack out of whatever dream he was in and lured him to its presence. with the feeling that something (or someone) may be about, jack quieted his steps even further, an act that came seemed impossible, as his sneakiness already came without effort or thought. jack paused, putting his attention into the sounds that were nearing him; footsteps, no doubt, and whistling! immediately he was drawn in, much like a predator to its prey, and made it his next mission to find out who was whistling that catchy tune.
it didn’t take long before jack had found the source of the noise. instead of being surprised, however, he was confused. his eyelids narrowed as he tried to think up a reason for why lock was on his own. he had always known oogie’s kids to band together, and even though they had aged themselves up, he didn’t expect them to grow out of it. jack kept hidden behind trees and bushes until lock was just in arm’s reach, and he took his chance to grab the boy’s unsuspecting wrist to stop him.

Jack knew better than to trust the trio in the first place due to all of the horrible things they’ve done in town, and to outside town members. Lock always went for the cooking people route or torture, Shock went for torture and not much more, and Barrel was quite fond of trapping and cornering people, catching them horribly off guard. He’s seen the trio in action, what they did to Santa and even backstabbing their own boss at the end of it all. Twisted, they did what they had to in order to get by and just slip under Jack’s radar... it only worked sometimes.
The only thing running through Lock’s head right now was to hope to all hell that Jack didn’t see him not taking his mask off as a sign of disrespect. The three ghouls always wore them, but they took them off quite often when talking, this time, he was doing everything to walk around that. Jack of course was unamused. A sheepish smile was under his mask at this point, showing somewhat in his eyes once more the emotions he was feeling. Tail flickered behind him idly, not realizing his modded ears and ear piercings weren’t covered by is mask, totally going over his head that Jack would know he was in the human world due to that... and that wouldn’t end well for him.
The skeleton was stickler for punishing the three, wanting them to make up for and help around the town when they do something wrong. Hence why the Mayor made the decision to psych the ghouls out into outing their boss’s lair. They still do work as if he was here, they know he’ll come back one day and doesn’t want to really risk it. Right hand went to rub his left bicep sheepishly, up and down until the tried to come up with an answer for the King. As if he really respected him; they would never admit that they were actually scared of Jack, they’ve shown it and he’s probably caught on. They have said to each other that they expected if they didn’t do Jack’s orders right that he would beat them (probably implying that Oogie did.)
“ Jelly brains-- uh... so, I’m in so much trouble, aren’t I ? ” Light tugs to get away from Jack’s hand began, testing the waters if Jack was going to let him go... slim chance.
