The thing that I feared the most has finally come true. The Party has their eyes on me, and I am being monitored by the thought police.  I am afraid to say that this is the last thing that you are going to hear from me, as it is very likely that I will get vaporized, and there will be no memory of me left, except for this blog. To whoever is reading this out there, I want you to spread the knowledge that you now have about The Party’s true purpose. I want you to spread the word and make everyone conscious about what is really going on. Even if you only spread this information to one person, my purpose will prevail. The only thing that I ask from you is that you stay conscious and aware of reality. Never believe what The Party says, because now you know that it is not true. I hope that I have opened the eyes of at least one person through this blog, and I hope that you are able to do the same thing.

Blog 6

When I was younger, I didn’t give much thoughts to the government, how they worked, and the amount of power that it had over the citizens. Opposite to regular people here in London, there came a time in my adulthood in which everything just clicked, and I finally realized all the control that The Part had over me. This is not something that everyone can say, as most people from Oceania still believe in The Party, and have never, and will never, be against it. I like to think that this happens because we are a community of ignorant people. Everyone nowadays is used to agree with whatever The Party states, without questioning it or even giving it a second thought. I, on the other hand, am a very curious person, and I like to question everything around me. This has helped me gain a lot of wisdom, but it puts my life in danger at the same time. Anyways, I am missing the point here. What I am trying to say is that unlike popular belief, I am against the idea of giving The Party more control, and there is a simple reason why. Look at the history of our country. According to the proles, everything used to be better before the Revolution, before The Party took over. Now, everything is sad, grey, and we are all completely under their spell. The Party already has a lot of power as it is, and they haven’t done anything good with it. The only thing that they have succeeded to accomplish is destroying our lives, taking away our freedom and privacy. To conclude this blog, I would like to leave you thinking about the following question, what would you think would happen if The Party had more control? How could it be any better than our current situation?

Blog 5

I have always been used to telescreens, and the thought of being constantly monitored by them. They had never really bothered me, or caused me any trouble, up until recently. At the beginning, I would usually just avoid the telescreens, especially the one in my living room. I can’t exactly pinpoint what started this annoyed feeling towards them, but I was definitely starting to go out of my way to avoid them. The weird thing is that I didn’t avoid them to do anything suspicious or against the law, simply the idea of a telescreen watching me in the privacy of my own home disturbed me. As time went by, my hate and disgust towards telescreens started to grow. I began to understand the real purpose behind them, and what they really represented. It wasn’t the idea of being watched by a weird device that bothered me, but rather the power that it gave the government over me. I think that most people have become ignorant to what is really happening, especially regarding telescreens. They have become used to the idea of a device watching you all the time to be normal, when in reality, it is everything but natural. In fact, I believe that it is a violation to our rights, privacy and freedom. Of course, if I ever get caught having these liberal thoughts, the thought police would vaporize me in the blink of an eye, because according to the party, “freedom is slavery”.  I, on the other hand believe that telescreens are the real cause of slavery, because they have got us all brainwashed. We are under their power, and the worst thing is that we are too ignorant to even realize it. I am so sick of telescreens that if I had only one wish, I would wish to have them all disappeared. I guess that I am getting way too political in this blog, but it is my only way to vent.

Blog 4

Never in a million years would I consider myself free. The current governments considers that “freedom is slavery”. Here in London, there is no such thing as freedom, and in fact, it is seen as a negative thing, something that society doesn’t want to get involved in. At the end of the day, I am not free, and here are a few reasons why. I am observed all the time. I can’t have my own thoughts or opinions because the thought police would get to me. I can only eat a restricted amount of chocolate (I am not able to choose the portions of food I consume). Just by the fact that we are all being watched 24/7, I would consider myself not to be free, because if I were to walk on a street that is “suspicious” I would get questioned immediately. What I mean by all this is that our society doesn’t know and respect freedom, and the problem is that we are all used to it, or ever worse, okay with it. 

I like where I live at, or at least the idea of it. In stories and tales, London always seems like such a magical place, filled with laughter and joy, like a perfect city. In real life, it's quite the opposite. It is grey, sad, and rainy. Everyone acts like robots around here, just going through life without feeling any type of emotions, and without expressing any feelings. I feel like I am living the same day over and over again, because it is always the same. When I was younger, I used to have this idea that one day I would get out of London, get out of Oceania. As the years went by, I realized that nowadays, every country and every city are the same. The world seems completely controlled by the government, and there is no freedom left anywhere.

Blog 3

Honestly, I have recently begun to get to know more about the proles, how they live and their way of thinking. I have especially become close with a man that has a store, in which he sells all kinds of stuff that belong to the era before the Revolution. He is a very curious man, somewhat forgetful, but overall a good person. As he tells me stories about how the world used to be before the Revolution and before The Party took over, I am starting to see things his way. Each time, I agree more and more with his way of thinking, and how the proles see the world overall. I honestly believe that The Party portrays them as ignorant and uneducated people, but in reality they are filled with knowledge. Maybe it isn’t the same kind of knowledge as the people that work for the party have, but they are still wise. They are filled with anecdotes and interesting stories, and I really enjoy listening and talking to them at the pub.  Of course, if the thought police ever found out about this, I would get vaporized in the blink of an eye. Overall, I find it really interesting the way that people outside The Party think, as they haven’t been brainwashed yet. They are far more authentic than we are. As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, lately I don’t know if I support The Party anymore, or if I even trust them. Talking with Mr. Charrington, (I should probably not reveal his identity, as I don’t want him to get in trouble), I have come to the realization that The Party is only using us for their benefit. They have brainwashed us in order to control us, but they don’t actually care about us. They have shown us that we are completely disposable, and in the moment in which they are done with us, they can vaporize us, without giving it a second thought. Anyways, this was my weekly rant, and as always,

Blog 2

I have been thinking a lot about our government, and how much control it has over us. We may not notice it, but we are constantly being watched, and therefore being controlled. Even though we know that we are being monitored by our telescreens, we don’t actually process it. We are so used to being careful around that horrible machine that it has become a habit. I want to know, how many of you have a specific spot in their house in which you know that you are out of sight of the telescreen? I hope that at least one of you does that, because I certainly do. This is my safe place, in which I can write in my diary freely, without being afraid. I know for a fact that eventually the thought police is going to come after me, I am a danger to society, or so they say. With that being said, I feel like I am running out of options for me to express my opposition to the government, it has become too dangerous. My diary, as well as this blog are my only way to reach out to people that feel the same way as I do. The problem with our government is that we don’t have the option to express ourselves, in any possible way. This blog hasn’t been able to reach out to many people, maybe because I am the only weirdo who hasn’t been brainwashed. Anyways, I am still looking forward to hearing from someone that thinks the way I do, and hopefully meet them before I get vaporized. The truth is that I feel so alone in this society, that I would rather get vaporized for expressing myself, than to keep living under the government’s control.

Blog 1

Hi, my name is Winston and I work at the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth here in London! Basically, my job consists in changing and rewriting historical records that the government of Big Brother has released, in order for them to make sense and be congruent with the government’s actions. I am really not supposed to reveal many things about my job, but lately, I feel like writing is my only escape. I feel like I am constantly trapped in a society in which I don’t fit in. However, the thing that terrifies me the most is the fact that I am being watched by the government 24/7. Literally, Big Brother is ALWAYS watching you. I realize that I am putting myself in great danger by simply starting this blog, but I am trying to find if there is anyone else out there that thinks the same way as I do. Someone that sees the government for who they actually are, not as how they want to be portrayed. I have come to the realization that this society is very toxic and manipulating. Everyone seems to be controlled by the Party, like they are robots. The amount of rage and violence that everyone has is unbelievable, everyone is filled with hate. I don’t know about anyone else but I feel like this isn’t how we are supposed to live. We aren’t supposed to fear the government, that one day we will get vaporized simply because we had one “impure” thought, or because we have a secret journal. It is not natural for humans to be kept in these cages, where we are constantly monitored, and filled with fear. 

I am a little hopeless, but I believe that there is someone out there that hasn’t been brainwashed by all this propaganda. I will be trying to write on this blog every week, and if you haven’t heard from me by next Wednesday, it probably means that I have been vaporized.
