She stared at her reflection in the glossed shop windows as if to make sure, moment by moment, that she continued to exist.

There was irritation running through her, people pushing past on their way to the front doors of the bar. He wasnât even going to show - and then what? Sure, she could have just tracked him down and dragged him away but that seemed even less likely to work than the text message she sent off to him. Her phone was still gripped tightly in the palm of her hand though she didnât expect a reply. Leaning back against the brick exterior all she could do now was play the waiting game. Wait to see what would happen, to see if her saving grace would appear again.
Itâs easy to think that people will like you more if you do whatever they tell you to do, but itâs quite the opposite. People donât appreciate pushovers - they use them.

Zach would be angry if Lily had any real reason to say this, but this girl in front of him was a stranger to his family and the people in it, thus having no real connection with them and her argument was invalid. âYou didnât know her, you didnât know dad, you donât know anything Lily. Youâre not part of my family, you donât know my family, stop trying to be in it or convince me to be out of it. Just because youâre not accepted in it doesnât mean you can tear us down.â The universe already had, he didnât need the woman with the same blood as him to do it anymore. âNot even then will I care for you.â
You donât know anything Lily. Sheâd heard it before: different words, same meaning. And shortly after Sean had spilled everything to her about how she was created for some messed up experiment. âWeâve been lied to for our entire lives, and when we finally get the truth youâre angry with me?! I donât give a shit about being accepted.â Liar. She retrieved the piece of paper, holding it between them to where anyone watching would wonder if there was anything there at all. âI need you to tell me you didnât do this.â
With Lily, she was a bit softer with her than others, but not soft enough. She was affectionate time to time, but she withheld her own thoughts for the most part. She was fine on her own, always has been. Except when she was still a child who wasnât able to cross the street alone or take herself to school. She couldnât quite tell why she enjoyed having the other brunette around, but she didnât question it too much and just went with the flow for now. Taking a hold of her hand gently, she stayed by her side, slowly swinging their hands. âTouche. Unless someone makes it difficult in getting to the entrance,â she replied, smiling.
âI think thatâd probably be an unwise decision on their part,â she murmured scanning the crowd in front of them for anyone that looked suspicious. Anyone who looked out of place enough that she could remember them and find them later and ask them about the slip of paper that was practically burning a hole in her pocket. Or perhaps that would be who ended up in their way. âBut letâs be honest, anyone in their right mind wouldnât want to get in our way.â Her smile widened as she took a glance at Ana. It was nice to be an equal for once, sheâd never been a leader, always a follower in everything she did. So finding a common ground to rest on for once in her life was comforting.

SPECIFY WHICH MUSE ON MINE AND YOUR BEHALF
Did being an actor made Danny feel a little superior? Definitely. Did he used it as a way to flirt on people? Yes. Did it always worked? Absolutely not, specially when the boyfriend was near the corner as he leaned and whispered something in the girlâs ear. This lead to receiving not only a slap from the girl but also a punch from the man. Danny hoped that the girl believed that he was just saying he was an actor to get in her pants. If he got into trouble he knew he would be mentioned a lot, but that it probably wouldnât do him any favors in Acers. Softly touching the sore area in his face he turned around feeling rather hungry. Seeing that pretzels were being sold nearby he headed there not really caring about the punch, and got in line. Out of the blue someone moved in line before him, âYeah, because someone thought that people waiting in line was just something pretty to look at. Not to actually wait for your turn.â
She hadnât exactly meant to spy on Danny but after the weird happenings of the night and adding on the fact that she couldnât find Sam sheâd found herself looking for his co-worker instead. And she wasnât about to find Vaughn, so Danny was really the only one left. But the scene that unfolded she a hum of annoyance past her lips, eyes narrowing as she quickly slipped past the couple and trailed him, quickly sliding in front of him only so she could reach the counter first. She ignored him, as she had done everyday before this, waiting until the person in front of her was done with their order before she stepped up to the counter herself, quickly ordering two pretzels and a large cup of ice before turning on her heel to look back at the man. âWe need to talk.â Pretzels in one hand and the cup in the other she tilted her head toward an empty bench away from the swarm of people, an eerily calm tone of voice to match the smile on her face. âNow.â
This was now the third time sheâd been bumped into in one night. It was still early. Were people already drunk off their asses? Disgusting. Charlotte loved a good party as much as the next person, but she was never drunk enough to be colliding with people left and right. She bit her tongue the best she could. Underhanded insults masquerading as helpful advice- that was the most successful method of dealing with people. Charlotteâs hazel eyes once again examined the person whoâd knocked her slightly off balance and, after steadying herself, replied, âThere is quite a bit of commotion. Maybe you should sit for a spell.â
She almost welcomed the sight of an unfamiliar face, because it seemed rather unlikely that this stranger had slipped such an unwelcome piece of paper into her pocket. A sheepish smile formed across her face as she stared back at the other woman, âYeah, maybe. I think I might just go get some air.â Giving a gesture toward the entrance it only fell short as she took in the swarm of bodies that stood between her and a free space. âOr you know, they have benches for a reason I suppose.â
He simply rolled his eyes at her sad attempt at an insult, almost giving her a look of pity for her failure at it. âOh, I didnât know her? So all those years we had together in the same house, celebrating the holidays, playing games, I didnât know her? Try again, Lily.â He was trying to hide how angry he was at her for saying that to him. It was her he didnât know. âYeah, but thereâs no reason for me to exhaust myself and pretend to tolerate you.â
All she could wish for was that the pact was able to stay in place, that she wouldnât have to deal with this for the rest of her life. âWho are you trying to fool? Neither of us knew her, or dad. We only knew what they showed us, the rest of the time we were completely blind to their real intentions.â Time had changed her mind on a few things, and sheâd had to learn to accept the fact that their Mother had been hiding too many things. âPlease, are you only going to start caring when a dare tells you to?â Her arms folded across her chest - maybe he hadnât even gotten one. But if he said he didnât she could only figure that this was all one big joke.
She stared over at the brunette, mainly trying to find if something was bothering the other. Which wasnât her forte, reading people wasnât exactly her greatest skill if it wasnât an obvious expression, but sheâd like to think so. âWanna go somewhere a bit more private then? Thereâs a ferris wheel around here, isnât there?â She smiled softly at the question, giving a nod to the girl before continuing to speak, âOf course. Iâm always alright, arenât I?â What a lie, but she wasnât going to speak out such a truth. âIâm glad to know youâre okay though.â
Multiple moments ticked by before she finally broke her eye contact, the mention of the ferris wheel taking a glance around to try and locate it. âYeah, Iâd enjoy that,â she held out a hand as an offer, a smile on her face. âCome on, canât be too hard to find a giant wheel in the sky.â Though Anaâs next statement sent a pang of... irritation? Worry? It had never been hard to tell that the woman she was standing with had something hidden. And she wanted to know, but sheâd never found it in herself to ask just what it was - if she did she may have to tell her own secrets and that wasnât something she wanted to do just yet.
