With the short time given for them to talk and walk, he was left in his own thoughts. Which were never good, especially now in the given location. Despite not wanting to not be here there was something else that was making him feel uncomfortable and over all tense. It was the thought of someone else, upon him remembering his first meeting with Lenalee. How she called him by another name, ‘Allen’.
What an odd time to think about this but he could not help it. Blame it on his apprehensive feelings that were not dying down as he wish they would. Biting the inside of his left cheek, a habit that he gained when he was deep in thought— he wondered if right now she was thinking of him. Which would not be odd after all Kumori had the face of this ‘Allen’. The occurrence happening more than once with other people, but still with Lenalee he hoped that she saw him as well— him.
His feelings felt complex. It was not jealousy but it was the dislike of being compared or competition of someone who was not around, which only left a bitter after taste in his mouth. But he knew better to dwell in such thoughts, instead shoving the feelings back in.
It was not his place to feel such things, after all they he was just being paranoid. Instead his gaze drifted to her back once more, her shoulders seemed a bit slackened in his opinion as if she was carrying a weight, causing him to stifle his desire to ask her about his previous doubts.
However hearing her reasoning for her lack of sleeping made him realize something. That although it was simple, he knew that maybe she had lost a member in the field. That there was no such thing as there not being a loss especially with such a job.
”Did something happen while you were on the mission? ….did you—”
lose someone? unsaid but the question was heard.
"I've lost a lot of people." She nods, understanding his curiosity all too well.
Their words echo in her mind, all the way down the lit hallway and as the illuminated walls begin to fade, the sound is almost deafening. Her hands fly to her temples, massaging them lightly as she rounds the corner, reminding herself that it was only an illusion in attempt to rid her mind of her insecurities.
The tone in his voice is curious, like he doesn't understand, and it occurs to her that he has no memory of who they were and what they were about. That was baffling on its own, but even more so was the thought of explaining it, which she was finding to be pretty impossible. They are in a war, and every night they have to prepare themselves for the worst, even if nothing was going to happen. They were risking every moment of their lives for the sole reason of their unique compatibility with Innocence. There was no explanation for that.
The young exorcist never quite remembered thinking of her job as something that needed explaining, not until the very moment where she stood speechless in front of someone who should be part of their team, but isn't. What kind of insanity lead them? She must have known before, chose to ignore it because there was something bigger to be concerned with, but...
What was that, again?
She stopped at the end of the hallway, turning her attention to the top. A metal ladder stood in front of them, leading to a circular entrance that was cut just above them.
"We'll have to climb," she instructs, heading for the first rung.
ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ʜᴏᴍᴇ // ᴋᴜᴍᴏʀɪ + ʟᴇɴᴀʟᴇᴇ
It was eerily silent as they both quietly walked along the empty passage way, walls looming over them as his head began to ache in an irritating manner. A throb appearing at his temple, his hand reaching up as he used two digits to massage the pang of annoyance away albeit it was to of no use. Despite these two barely knowing one another well enough here she was sneaking him into her room— peculiarly familiar in spite of them barely knowing one another. Or was he just creating feelings that were not there since there was a lack of them. Tch, this goddamn headache makin’ me over think.
Eyes lifting upwards, watching the back of her form as he followed behind her. There was— a difference in her tone either that or he was nitpicking at it. But he could not help but notice how it was more hallow and tired, as if the fire he last heard from when they first met had been extinguished.
”Is there a reason why for that? you work or somethin’—?”
It was a common question to be asked, he would not force anymore than that if she decided to side step the query made. She had a right to keeping certain things to herself just as he did. However just as usual he could not help but worry for the latter.
Pursing twin folds together into a firm line, deviating his gaze away from her letting silence envelop them again aside from the almost muted footsteps heard. It irked him, how they easily shifted from strangers to people who seemed to be familiar with one another.
A beacon of light just ahead of them seemed to stretch the hall a bit more than necessary, though it was only an illusion. It was kind of sad, she realized, because it hadn't been there before. It was just placed there for ease of access, and so that she wouldn't get lost; hinting at the idea that she'd visited this passageway a lot more than she thought.
A sigh left her mouth, almost like she was relieved. She was relieved to hear his voice, relieved to be near him, although she walked ahead to allow him some space. It occurred to her how awkward of a position this situation put him in, and she didn't want to scare him away. In the back of her mind, guilt ate away at her conscience. How could she feel any relief? This wasn't Allen. And it probably wouldn't ever be. It was wrong to be happy that he was here because it wasn't what she expected. He wasn't it.
Yet... she felt it anyway. Like she was at peace knowing that he was alive and safe, even if it wasn't Allen. He was right here and she felt like wanting more than that was shameful. The only thing that made it bad was the idea of his presence only becoming comforting because of his resemblance to Allen-- and not who he really was.
Though she took things to heart, she didn't quite know Allen as well as she imagined, and that was clearer now than it ever had been. Kumori was more or less giving her the same situation only she felt more inclined to listen, her mind filled with wonders over who he could be. Perhaps it was because she had a choice; a say in whether she wanted to be affiliated with this one for once.
And she did.
"I just came from a mission. We go after the Akuma, while looking for Innocence in the field. Any time, anywhere we think it might be, we send a team of specially trained operatives to retrieve it, and fight all other potential contenders. We do this as quickly and as quietly as we can to keep the civilians in the area safe."
ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ʜᴏᴍᴇ // ᴋᴜᴍᴏʀɪ + ʟᴇɴᴀʟᴇᴇ
The halls gave him a daunted feeling seeing as this was the place he had originally been fleeing from. How long had he been running from the order? The amount of time remained a mystery mostly due to his memory having always been muddled and he did not sought as to why he was hiding from them only that he was. However Lenalee did not know that and he did not want to alarm her anymore, keeping information to himself as per usual.
Following her, his silence given only out of habit as he allowed tension to blanket him like a familiar coat. But he did miss her and the conversations ( as little as it was ) they both had with one another. Despite his original feelings about the place he cleared his throat, hoping to garner her attention. Speaking lowly as the only sound that resonated was their footsteps.
”Hopefully….anyways— is it too soon for me to say th is but how have ya been. hm?”
Watching her curiously as they had come to a stop by a staircase as his sentiments still remained unsaid, her hands fumbling around for something. This whole session of secretly maneuvering their way to her room seemed to be a hassle, even for her. However a sigh of relief escaped his scarcely parted lips, it seemed they’d be able to sneak in without trouble.
Though he felt that perhaps this was all a ruse, just to lure him in. Surely the fortified black order was littered with more people walking around this time of night— or was that his paranoia talking? Nudging her gently with his shoulder, urging her to go first.
She slips through the door without hesitation, having done it a million times over. She wanted to ignore the familiar polite mannerism that seemed to still reside in this stranger, although she wasn't sure if she could refer to him like that after today. He was now sneaking through the walls of the Order, just as he'd be if he were still Allen, and she was positive the young boy knew nothing of that either. She couldn't imagine what could be going through him now--the anxiety, most of all, had to be eating him alive. She almost wished they could go somewhere safer, but that would only raise suspicion.
They would just have to deal.
The young woman moved through the halls delicately, each step precise so as not to leave any hint of their presence. She recalled information of these walls being sound proof, but she never knew if Lavi was kidding or not when he told her. Either way, it was something said to make her feel better, but you could never be too sure.
Upon hearing him speak, she nearly faltered, startled by his pinched tone. She was right. He was more than nervous; he was afraid. She noticed it the moment the words left his mouth, but it was probable that he wouldn't admit it and out of courtesy, she would not dwell on it. Most people were reluctant to admit such things.
"It's been alright," Minus the failed missions and missing comrades. "I haven't been getting much sleep." I've only just been worrying about you for the past ever.

Hesitant at first, as he always was around her before deciding to step in. Not desiring to trouble her anymore than he already was. Stepping inside the threshold of her abode, his shoes scuffing against the floor slightly. Having never been inside her home before, his eyes were quick to access it though it would be only for a short time. After all he did not want Komui to ask him questions that he honestly had no answers for.
”Are we heading to your room?”
The question said in a hushed tone, feeling pensive if they stayed any longer in the foyer than they were supposed to. It was late at night but he was sure that Komui would hear them regardless if he was sleeping or not. Having never met the man to his knowledge but he was spoken about by Lenalee from the letters she sent him.
Realizing only shortly about what he had said, knowing that she’d probably feel uncomfortable about that. Some women, often not desiring a man in their room— if tonight was the night he would continuously make her feel uncomfortable he was obviously doing a good job about it.
Deciding not to voice his thoughts, instead still standing tense beside her. His shoulders rigid as he was unsure what to do, why did it seem that he could never seem to find his right footing around her.
"What choice do we have?" she says quietly as she steps back in after him, letting the door free so it may secure The Order once more. "It's okay, though. There are back halls that people seldom realize exist in this building. I can't be certain if Komui knows of them."
The halls were silent, prompting her to move quickly before someone decided to show up. With Kanda gone, somehow that was convenient enough for now because he was usually the only person who could sneak up on her besides Lavi, and that problem spoke for itself already
"We'll just have to hope he doesn't."
She lead the way to another door, revealing a staircase where she walked for a few moments before coming to a stop. These walls were tricky; they were all the same lame, boring color, so she had to be careful when she took this route. One wrong move and she could alert their security systems, and then it would be all over. She extended her arms, searching for the right dip in the architecture.
There, she thought, and it clicked, a wave of relief washing over her as the wall gave way. It turned out this was a secret passageway. She had gone so long without knowing it was there, sure she could feel safe in the order because she'd seen things no one had through her wandering. But with each reveal, instead of shedding enlightenment, it gave her even more of a reason to be afraid.
"This way," she whispered, before stepping inside.
ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ʜᴏᴍᴇ // ᴋᴜᴍᴏʀɪ + ʟᴇɴᴀʟᴇᴇ
Resolve that was already weak had shaken upon her response towards his appearance, a small doubt lurking in the crevices of his mind that perhaps she did not want him around at all? Was he too presumptuous to think that his presence would be welcomed? But he wanted to tell her instead of replying to letters that were weeks…even months old. Steadying his gaze with her own, somehow trying to relay not only with words. Hoping she get the gist of it all.
"I…I wanted to see you?"
This was not a lie on his part, because he did. The image of her would fade into his memories if he hadn’t, but it was not just the desire to see her but honestly because he missed her. However he could not allow himself to admit to such things, unlike him to do so. Lips pursing to the side, a nervous habit really.
[ Should I say more— what else is there to say…? ]
Ah— his reason for his disappearance, for his lack of replies. It seemed however whatever they were it remained lodged in his throat. Discomfort starting to ease into his expression as his brows knit together. Despite envisioning how their reunion would go the reality was not like what his mind conjured up. Instead insolent words left scarcely parted lips.
”hmph, should I leave?”
Tight features softened a bit as she witnessed his own catastrophe appear on his face and the woman couldn’t help but feel apologetic—especially for someone in his situation. It was hard to understand, but his resemblance to Allen was beginning to get further and further away with every moment that she spent with him. She felt detached, and yet a new connection seemed to be forming all at the same time. It hurt incredibly much, but she couldn’t just turn him away because he wasn’t what she expected.
“No…” she says with a shake of her head, sighing. There was a moment of hesitation but she rolled over it and cleared her throat. “You should come inside. If Komui sees you, it’ll raise a lot of questions.” She would not go into detail about her brother’s extremely overprotective abilities. There’s a time and place for everything, and this was definitely not the time or the place.
The lady exorcist gave little thought to the consequences she’d have to face if they were caught. Even though she was still a bit pissed off, somehow it seemed worth it to have him in with her than anywhere else. The Order didn’t exactly favor Allen, and though this was not Allen, it’d be hard to convince them otherwise.
She stepped aside and nodded for him to step inside, hoping he would save them some time by complying.

Tilting his head back, alabaster locks moving past his shoulders slightly as he let out a shaky sigh that contained emotions he had never really delved in. Anxiety seeping into his bones as seconds passing as it seemed that perhaps no one would answer the door and his visit would just be a stop. She wasn’t here— time to go home, kid. With your ego bruised, ha…However those thoughts were halted by her voice which was barely heard, his heart racing suddenly.
’Coming…'
What was spoken from her had not comforted him in the slightest.
"Hmph."
Why was he nervous? He had no reason to be, with a roll of his shoulders his resolved hardened and pushed away any previous emotions. This was just him greeting her, announcing he was back. Sure he had left without her but they were merely friends with an attachment or two, nothing more or less.
The expression on his face calm, as his lips settled into a thin line and his gaze nonchalant without his usual emotions brewing in. Plus he knew that if he had presumed the look with emotions easily shown that it would worry the female, something he was not fond of doing whatsoever. Relief that as the door was opening slightly, he allowed himself to have a careless grin settle on his lips— easy-going was the image he wanted to assume around her.
“Hey.”
A tidal wave of emotions engulfed her the moment she caught sight of him, turning her mouth down, slightly agape as she raised her eyebrows--both in worry and a bit of pain as she tried to settle the onslaught of her feelings. He was here after all, not gone, not not-replying to her letters, and definitely not here to tell her he was leaving.
"H..hey." she croaked, flicking her gaze to the floor before reaching his soft silver eyes once more. 'I don't understand' was the first thing that came to her mind, but instead she went with "What are you doing here?"
She was suddenly angry. Angry that he left, angry that he was here. But if he was gone, she'd be missing him, wondering where he'd gone to and hoping he wouldn't be killed for being where he wasn't supposed to.
Like now.
Admittedly, she was relieved. She was glad she wouldn't have to face Lavi and the awkward conversation that would ensue once they saw each other again. Even more so, she was hit with the realization of something: she was tired. Not tired of him, or being around him.. just tired.
Komuri seemed to have that effect on her as well, but...
Well, obviously he was different.
ʀᴇᴛᴜʀɴɪɴɢ ʜᴏᴍᴇ // ᴋᴜᴍᴏʀɪ + ʟᴇɴᴀʟᴇᴇ
Stepping into town, the brisk wind ruffling his coat— the feeling is almost nostalgic upon entering. He is finally home at last…well not exactly home but it would be the closest place to it. This town with loosely made connections that were torn upon his departure however one remained. Lenalee. Now not one for sentiments or anything of that sort, the two had formed some attachment towards one another.
Though Kumori never left a letter for her that he had left, guilt had remained for never alerting her. Knowing full well that abandoning her just like that hadn’t been correct. But he kept the letter she sent out to him, a paper containing her feelings. None to which he had been able to answer due to his disappearance.
Which is regrettable, perhaps this is why he made a point of heading straight towards her place upon his arrival. Making no side trip to go anywhere else, his destination is to clear the misunderstanding between them. Not desiring for her to think of him as the type to leave without so much as a goodbye.
Despite doing that— it was conflicting, really.
Finally reaching her house where she resided in, feelings of anxiety was swarming up. Rarely felt, his hands balling into fists as if to compress the feelings. Approaching the door, knuckles quickly hitting against the front door— one knock, two and then three. Before he allowed a pause to happen, a breath held into place when he realized he was not exactly sure what to say to her.
Having just returned from a mission, Lenalee was more than tired, curling within her sheets to escape the failure she'd experience out on the field. There was no innocence retrieved this time around, and though it was normal, she felt it was unacceptable. The normally optimistic teen was just a little bit out of it this time, and she'd be mortified if anyone saw her this way. Sleep wasn't a viable option in any case because each time she closed her eyes, her mind wandered to the very moment where she missed her target.
Eventually she just stopped tossing and turning and focused on the ceiling, on the darkness surrounding the order and the stars that twinkled in the night; she focused on her new encounters, her less cluttered room that she'd spent cleaning to clear her head.
Hair wavy and thrown everywhere, clogging her ears, nose, blocking her vision, and almost blocking out the soft sound of knocking at her door. The young woman froze in her tracks-- wondering for a moment if it was Lavi, coming to pay her back for spilling coffee all over her the other night. It was sweet.. for him to come over like that. He was sweet, like the coffee, like the sugar you pour over a doughnut to make it taste better.
But who was she kidding, right
"Coming.." she muttered just loud enough for whoever was outside to hear.
The young woman stirred, thinking for a moment that the strange boy who offered his acquaintance just a few days ago was something to be more worried about than Lavi. He looked like he'd lost the savory details from his life long ago. Rising from her bed, she grabbed something to pull over her shoulders before she answered the door.

Opinion on;
Character in general: To be honest I love Lenalee uwu Out of the DGM series she was probably my most favoured character. especially during the part when she drank her innocence okay— she just drank it, not to save the world from akuma and shiz, but for her friends and family that she had made. and she continues to do what she does for them. I’ve always found her honest in the most purest of ways but that’s how i perceived her and so when Allen left and Lenalee was the last person to see him off from the order I was like no— don’t— idffjdf. How they play them: Close to how I envision lenalee to be, your portrayal of her is well done and you execute her well without making it seem overplayed or something. do I make sense? I just really admire how you play her and dkfjsdf. The Mun: from our tag convos you seem sweet to me uwu and i hope everything is going fine with you and lets share feels for both our bb’s interacting okay? because yes.

“..I don’t mean to upset you, ah.”
Words mumbled but sincere, her expression was momentarily crestfallen when he had admitted that he indeed was not who she thought for him to be. Which left him thinking did his appearance leave a bitter after taste for her, after all clearly this Allen guy must have been important since not only she mentioned him but a handful of others that he had met before her.
With a curt nod, he had mouthed her name when it was given as a form of remembrance. Wanting to call her Lena till a more suitable nickname appeared, he had a terrible habit of bestowing names to others whether they liked it or not. Glancing towards her, his charcoal hues never left her face as he curiously inspected her.
She did seem to want to get to know her and himself felt drawn to her. Without much resistance, he offered her a hand; extended towards her with the intention to shake.
“Lenalee — hm, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Sorry if ‘m appearance bothers ya.”
"Don't be silly," she says quickly. "It's nice to meet you too."
Soft eyes glanced away from him for a moment, whether in embarrassment or for want of sparing him the hurt that was more than likely still brewing in her eyes -- she couldn't say. All she knew was his presence made her feel... safer, which was the most perplexing part, but it was also quite frightening.
Truth be told, she didn't really know him. And she may never really know him. The loss in his eyes was probably contagious, and despite not really grasping the idea of Allen being yet again another person, she wasn't sure if she should run or scream or cry ... or perhaps be happy that he was relieved of such a mess he was in before.
But who could be happy about not knowing who they were anymore?
"It's not your fault, not at all. I'm just... not used to it."
