Mary had been kissed before. She’d kissed a few people she’d probably live to regret, but that didn’t matter in the slightest because kissing Fabian was all she ever wanted to do again. It felt right and so wonderful and she’d most definitely be spending the rest of her evening thinking about the way he kissed her. They moved backwards onto his bed so he was hovering over her and she became far more aware of how he was touching her. Her eyes watched his nervously, her cheeks a soft shade of pink. He said her name and her heart rattled. Was he going to properly ask her out? Was he going to tell her he wanted to date her? There were many wonderful words that could have come out of that gorgeous boy’s mouth.
And instead, he slipped and toppled onto her.
“Oof-” She let out an embarrassing noise, not exactly expecting the sudden weight on top of her. They ended up tangled in a mess of limbs; her face was pressed against his neck and she had to blink a few times and wait for her soul to come back down into her body before registering how close they were. Although he didn’t seem to be thinking about that, evident by him bursting into loud laughter. She soon followed, his laugh contagious. How had they ended up being the most clumsy, ridiculous pairing in the entire country? They certainly were made for each other. Her chest jiggled him up and down as she laughed which made the entire thing far more hilarious; which then made him move more and it was a never ending cycle of giggling and jiggling. She even let out a snort, which was highly more embarrassing than the noise she’d made when he’d fell onto her, but given it made him laugh more it was worth it. “How romantic,” she joked, wiggling away just a little so that she could look up at him again with nervous eyes. She leaned forward and pressed the softest of kisses to his lips, before letting her hair fall back against the pillow. She made no effort to distance herself from him as she spoke, a slight quiver to her voice. “I would love to go on a date with you, Fabian.”
Merlin, he was embarrassing. Not that he was complaining about it, not at all, but why did Mary actually seem to like him back? She could have quite literally any person at this school, and somehow it seemed she chose him. At least she was laughing, and it was utterly fucking ridiculous how their laughter just fueled one another, like the giggling would literally never end. How had they gone from fighting, to snogging, to laughing so hard Fabian feared they might actually never stop, all so quick after one another?
The laughing did finally stop, though, with a soft kiss from Mary. Fabian brushed a strand of hair away from her face and just smiled at her for a moment as he looked down at her. Despite how tired she looked, and despite how tired he felt, everything felt like it was going to actually be okay. Even if that changed, even if they left this room in thirty minutes and everything went right back to being fucked up, for now it was gonna be okay. As long as he was with Mary, things would work out. It was impossible for them not to.
"Really?” he grinned, a very genuine grin, pressing a kiss to her forehead, “You really mean it?” He kissed her cheek. “Really really?” Her other cheek. “You wanna go on a date with me?” The very tip of her nose. “We’re going on a real date, Mary Macdonald.” Finally, her lips, a lingering kiss as he just savored the moment, the fingers he used to move the hair away from her face now resting gingerly against her cheek.
Fabian moved to lay next to her on his bed, adjusting his arm so she could rest her head on her shoulder. “Before we go on our incredible, show-stopping date... Can we maybe just take a nap?” Fabian Prewett never took naps, he was incredibly opposed to them personally, but between the lack of sleep from the party and the emotionally taxing morning... he actually felt like he might need one.
