THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT BOUNDARY SETTERS
Its the last sugar maple leaf to wither in the Fall, and the bartenders shout for the last call, from the downhill skier caught in a rushing avalanche, to those hurtful words said, ending a summers romance, when angry clouds march to block the light of the sun, and the aging father who can no longer outrun his son, its the black cat living its ninth life, and the last slice of steak from a carving knife, from the needle that can't be found in the hay, hopes and dreams drift away...drift away. Its the dead end job that pays minimum wage, and the bird of paradise caught in a cage, from the aspiring singer who's lost her voice, to facing the predicament of Hobson's choice, when angst ridden kids have run away from home, and the tears of Romulus during the Fall of Rome, its the last losing hand of a Vegas gambler, and the loss of direction for a country rambler, from the tin foil hats who predict the next doomsday, hopes and dreams drift away...drift away. Its the cheating husband caught in a lie, and the Napalm bombs falling out of the sky, from the child's kite caught in the Scarlet Oak tree, to the trapped brown bear struggling to break free, or when the lonely are contemplating suicide, and the Blue whales washed up on the high tide, from the deep darkness that never sees the morning light, to the oppressed who are fighting for their rights, and the deadly streets where children no longer play, hopes and dreams drift away...drift away. Its a child last breath felt on a mothers face, and the death row prisoners accepting their fates, from the world that washed away in Noah's mighty flood, ...which I don't believe happened anyway, oh baby, I can still hear you cry when you pray, to the terrifying screams in the neighborhood, and the countless victims shot dead in cold blood, its the fading hallucinations of a D.M.T addict, and the dripping tears of a dictators conscript, hopes and dreams drift away...drift away, but you say hope springs eternal anyway.
Its really crazy to me that we’ve gotten to the point where being photographed in public without consent is like acceptable
This is what I've started thinking every time I see a TikTok of a random stranger. We've seen what happens to people who go viral from their own posts-- why expose a stranger to that possibility just for existing? What if whoever's in there didn't want people to laugh at them? What if they don't want to be a meme? What if they just want to exist in real life, and not in someone else's framing on the Internet? Other people are not for public consumption.
the sad thing about our society is, that the majority of people unfortunately don't get the concept of consent (in terms of many scenarios) & i hate that. :/
rb this to give the person you rb it from a hug
A loaded bank account, a healthy relationship and a comfortable life is all I want.
I don’t think a lot of people understand that no matter how progressive or well-read you are, there are always going to be moments in your life where somebody pushes back against something that’s so culturally ingrained you never even considered it before. And you’ll say “Huh, it never occurred to me to challenge this but you’re right,” and that doesn’t mean you were “morally toxic” before, it means you’re a non-omniscient human capable of growth.
Also, some preferred terms for things will change and evolve, and terms we prefer now might eventually be considered gauche or even offensive, and that doesn’t mean you were a bigot at the time for using them. It means we evolved as a society and chose new terminology to reflect that change.
Nobody is a fully formed realisation of progressivism that can predict all shifts and modes of thought. The world will always change, and hopefully you will, too
if we can admit men shouldnt have to be strong all the time why cant we do the same for black women
Ppl are too attached to the idea of us overcoming brutality, so they’re both willing to brutalize us for this narrative then applaud us in the same moment for being so strong
shoutout to the:
cleaning crews
hotel workers
transportation workers
security guards
cooks/caterers
and all of the other people who are making the playoffs possible without the spotlight or promise of winning a cup.
Who do I contact to help a black woman in need ? Like immediately, I have a friend in Orlando FL , who could possibly be homeless come tomorrow and I’m tryna set up an Airbnb for her. We need at least $2,000. Idk how the gofundmes and all that works , but if you got a big platform on here that caters to black women, I’d appreciate the reblog/support. Her cashapp is $juliettemaya
Sex Education → Season 2
When you’re young you think everybody out there really… really gets you. But you know, actually, only a handful of them ever do. All the people who like you, despite your faults. And if you discard them, they will never come back. So, when you meet those people, you should just hold onto them. Really, really tightly. And don’t let them go.
you’re telling me we are young came out NINE YEARS AGO
The world is a terrifying place but at least the erupting volcano of Mayon is waking the ancients to remind us of our place
Quick note: original art is by Kerby Rosanes
Link to the original post here on the artist’s IG
Another note: This is in reference to the Filipino legend from Albay called “Daragang Magayon” [literally translated into “beautiful maiden”, with “daraga” meaning “maiden” and “magayon” meaning “beautiful”]
She’s a folk heroine, whose love story can be read here
It is said that her lover, Panganoron, is the clouds that surround Mt. Mayon’s peak, while she is herself the volcano, which has always been seen as remarkably beautiful in shape
It’s said that the volcano grew where they were buried together
Which is why the shape of two lovers seen in the smoke of its most recent eruption is so culturally significant.
And really, really cool.
““Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they would be here forever? If so, then you know you can go your whole life collecting days, and none will outweigh the one you wish you had back.””
— Mitch Albom (via naturaekos)
