Sophie: whatcha up to?
William: Not too much really, watching discovery channel.
“Okay, I just have to check out this book for my mom first.” She snuggled into his side as they made their way towards the front desk so she might check it out. Sophie couldn’t have been more happy to see him, but a part of her couldn’t help but wonder if she was being a bit to selfish. When they approached the front desk, Sophie uncurled herself from his chest but never let go of his hand. She simply couldn’t bring herself to do such a thing at this point, not wanting to leave his side, but also not ready to leave his side for her own sake. She thanked the man kindly before pulling his arm right back around her shoulder. “Sorry but you’re going to have to deal with me and how much I’ve missed you.” She shrugged innocently, yet with a playful tone attached to it, hoping to make him feel the least bit better. “Did you actually get me something? Oh yay!” She skipped excitedly, but then remembered her head which was jostled painfully by the movement. Her smile fell as the pain hit her, then just relaxing back into his side. “How did you get here? I walked. I’m not supposed to drive right now.” She said with a sad smile, knowing that she’d now have to tell him about her concussion as he’d be curious as to why she wouldn’t want to drive.
“okay, sure thing”There was so much he could tell her, and maybe would tell he most likely later anyhow but right here wasn’t the place. William knew that it was risky leaving her like this, but he would always come back and even if he had decided that the Air Force would be the future for him; he would still come back to her and explain. A part of him had always known that the Air Force had not been for him, and he knew it was that part Sophie knew the most. Reason why she was his best friend and would always be it, no matter what. It had been a long couple of days so he was kind of tired but Sophie was that one person he didn’t care would be around even if he was going to sleep. She could sleep with him, and they could talk for hours; it had always been that way. “I missed you too” he said with a small smile, speaking only of the truth right now. She had been the only one he had missed, and she most likely was the only one that missed him in this town. “Yes, I actually did sugarplum” Will chuckled softly as he took out a little box he had in his bag. He was about to answer, when her statement made him wonder. “what? why not?”
i will answer stuff later!!
Life had caught up with Hennessey way too quickly – she had a mounting pile of papers and assignments that she had completely forgotten about or hadn’t bothered to check. It wasn’t like any of it was particularly hard to her but putting in the effort was still a pain in the ass. Finally, she set aside a day to do them all and lugged her bag full of textbooks and her laptop to the library, the only place she knew she could focus without any distractions. She had pounded out a lab report and an English paper on symbolism but she was still lacking on research for her history paper. Tucking a pencil behind her ear, she looked down to the piece of paper she had just scrawled on and sauntered off to find the war section. She had wandered halfway through the aisle, books under her arm, before noticing the tall boy standing in the row adjacent to her. They weren’t friends necessarily, more like people who shared some of the same views that had enjoying sleeping together once or twice but she had wondered where he had disappeared to for those few weeks he hadn’t been around. “Doing some light reading?” The question fell easily from her lips as she walked up towards William, adjusting the books so they tucked under her arm.
it had been a few emotional couple of weeks, and most of the time William just wanted to go and be alone. strange thing was, the boy liked to be alone but he hated to feel alone. and in his case, feeling alone was something he had done most of his time when his mom and dad never manage to be around for him. on parents-strudents days they would always send a nanny, or just not send anyone at all. all the little prices he had collected in the science fair, non of them had been there to see. a familiar voice his his thoughts and brought him back to where he was. Hennessy, he actually didn’t know how to put her into words or thoughts. the two wasn’t what you’d call friends, yet they often did end up hanging out doing a few things that they both might need at the time. for some reason she scared him, but he truly did not know why. it might be because William normally did not really like to get that physical with a lot of people but with her it somehow worked. even if all those ‘feelings’ that people kept talking about wasn’t there with him. “bit of a light reading I suppose” he placed the book he had taken out back in before turning to face her. truth was, he actually knew the girl was not as badass as she wanted people to think, and could do a good job with things if she tried to William decided not to comment on the fact she was socializing with books.
Maisy never found herself in the library much any more, so to say she didn’t know her way around much these days was an understatement. Her eyes looked aimlessly around the large establishment, desperate to track down the cookery section in hopes of ideas of new dishes to cook up when the occasion called for it. Though, with that being said, she did have a cook-off coming up with a fellow chef she had encountered only days earlier. Nonetheless, she continued on her journey around the building before she somehow found herself in what could possibly be the opposite of what she was looking for. History. More specifically, books revolving around war. Whether they were based on fiction or fact was irrelevant to the petite brunette. Apparently it was a day where other humans were limited or had better plans elsewhere, as it seemed there was only one other soul within feet of her current position. A young man, to be more specific on the matter. Gazing at the books in front of him, Maisy quietly yet obviously cleared hr throat in an attempt to secure his attention in a polite manner. “Sorry —” She added seconds later, twiddling her thumbs whilst rocking back and forth on her heels nervously. “I know you’re probably busy, but apparently I’m the idiot who can’t navigate her way in a library despite all the signs everywhere. You don’t happen to know this place well enough to tell me where I can find the cook books, do you?” The brunette questioned, throwing quick reassuring smile in his direction, hoping he was able to help, and if he wasn’t, well, she hoped he wasn’t about to get annoyed at her disturbing him.
a huge part of him felt so much lighter after the discovery he had made not too long ago now. he was not his father, and he was not the son he wanted either but it had gone up for him that going into the Air Force was not something he should go doing unless he wanted it himself, and William didn’t. sure a part of him wanted it, but not for the right reasons. first of all, he had wanted it because then Chase would be proud and have the son he always wanted. the smart one, the one that would reach far in a job with the Air Force. he was cut out for it, and had all he needed for it. Will would also be pretty good at it, he had no reason to think otherwise; but it still wasn’t what he wanted or needed. most of the time, William knew what he wanted to be, and how to get there. just sometimes his mind would wonder off and think what would happen if he ended up doing what his father wanted him to do. there was a lot of things to think about. his mind drifted off to all this, when a voice suddenly made him come back down on earth. for a moment he didn’t know if he had actually heard someone, or if his head was making small tricks on him but sure enough a girl came. William didn’t work here, but he had been here many enough times to know the place inside and out. his first instinct was to answer her with one of his famous witty comments.however, it did not happen he simply said “Yeah, II’I show you” because he had the time and did not have anything else to do either so he might as well do it.
Maybe some people are never meant to be saved by Love. Maybe some people are destined to forever wander astray but never find a home. Maybe I’m one of those people, and my stars just can’t align in my lifetime

Sophie nodded, watching him carefully as she finally noticed what section of the library they were in. Her brow furrowed lightly. If he had been sure then why was he in this particular section. She had to wonder. The brunette was then brought back into the conversation between them when she’d gulped, hearing him speak about the time being a lie. That’d could only mean that Chase had done or said some idiotic thing to his child, not giving a rats ass how it might affect the boy. But how would Chase even be able to know how or what affected the boy to begin with when he was never there. Sophie’s blood boiled like it had many times over his parents, but she’d learned to control her outward emotions on the subject for William’s sake. Sophie let the silence fill up between them for a while after that, not knowing exactly what to say that would best help him, instead watching their joined hands as her thumb moved gently across his hand over and over again to offer him a small comfort. Yes, he had hurt her, but it was nothing compared to the pain he carried around as it were. That was her main concern at this point, even if she didn’t understand why he’d left her yet. After a few silent moments, the girl pulled his arm around her own shoulder, moving against his chest. “Can we go home now?” She asked genuinely, knowing that she needed a pain killer for her concussion stat as it were, but also that William needed a change of pace. He needed to remember who his true family was in her and Sophie couldn’t have been happier to provide him with that reminder. He was the perfect distraction from well, any and all things that involved extreme brain activity. “You better have brought me back a souvenir Mister. Or else you’re in even bigger trouble than you already are.” She now teased, hoping to lighten the mood. But then she wondered if he had wanted to talk to her about it, which she would of course listen to his every word. “Do you want to talk about it?”
she didn’t need to ask him more then one time for going home. he had not been home yet actually; he had gone right from the airport here. so it was time to go home, where only the maid might be, or not. depending on how much work she had to do, but seeing as he had not been there in a while he would have guessed it wasn’t too much to clean and such. they had to trust the maid a lot, since she was alone in the house a lot when he was in school, and when he was away. most of the time Will’s mother and father would be away too so he house was not used much beside his room and kitchen, and the livingroom. since his mother had a room for everything in the house, there was an own big bathroom with bathtubs, showers and everything that you did not really need too much of; but they had. a own room for watching tv, and one for being on a computer. that was the room William used the most, because it interested him the most. Chase had his own little room dedicated to the Air Force and William could remember playing in that room when his dad was away. because he was not allowed in there when he was home. his nanny did not really care, because everything that might go wrong, his mom and dad would not hear about since he grew up with a nanny. she was still around, but not as much as she used to be when William was little. “yes, we can go home” the dark haired boy nodded, as he was more then ready to go back to that house. even if it most of the time seemed so lonely. but sophie was with him, and she always had been so it had felt like a home when she was around. his mother had an expensive taste, and that could people truly see once they walked into the house. William never understood why she cared to much, because she was never really there. a little smile came to his face when she teased him about getting her a little gift. and sure enough, he actually had. “you’ll get it later” he said and he pulled her along with her. it was time to go home, and when they got home maybe they would talk about it. maybe they would not. he didn’t really know if he wanted to or not, but he had decided that even though he knew his father would be so so much prouder of him if he did; William Adams did not think that the Air Force was the place for him to be. no matter what, even if he often did wish it could be. so his father would be proud of him, like he so long had wanted him to be. when it came to his mother, she supported Chase. however, she had one told William that it really did not matter what he did, as long as he got money from it. not that it seemed like a better thing to say to your son.
Sophie was calming down now. The lack of dance being in her life over the last few days was severely messing with her emotions. Rarely did she emote with such intensity as she had just done, though if there was one person who could bring such emotion out in her it was William. She knew that her harbored contempt with William’s parents was hardly a secret to him, but she also knew that she needed to be supportive of him. The Air Force had been on his mind, but her main concern was that he made that choice for the right reasons. It would break her heart if he were to be disappointed once again by his father which she knew would happen. Though if had chosen to go she’d support him anyway, as well as pick up the pieces as she always did when they fucked up as his parents. Though she worried that one day she wouldn’t be enough to save him, their disappointments becoming far too many for him to bare. Her heart beat finally began to reach a normal pace when she heard his promise, nodding in understanding of his words. Sophie gulped, waiting patiently as he found his words. It still greatly angered her that he thought it was okay to leave without telling her, but she shoved those feelings off to the side now to deal with the matter at hand. She knew it was coming now, no he wasn’t going to leave her, but he was going to try and make his dad proud. Sophie prepared herself for a blow that never ended up coming. Instead, a sense of great relief washed over her, “Are you sure? How’d you figure that out? How was Chase?” Sophie was done acknowledging the fact that they were his parents, now referring to them by their first names.
“he’s fine” William commented on her question. because besides the fact that he wanted Will to be in the Air Force everything with him was rather okay. one thing he never could understand about his father, was how he ended up being with his own child. because his mom and dad had been the most loving mom and dad a child could have, and then Chase ended up like he did. maybe it was him? maybe William wasn’t the son he wanted, or the child he wanted. that would always be the argument that came into his mind when he started to think about it. Sophie had many times had to calm him down over the years when he started thinking about it. she truly was the only person in the world that cared about him, so he knew how idiotic it had been for him to leave without saying anything. Will just needed to get away, and think. he knew if he told her, she would end up talking to him about it and be the voice of reason and tell him not to. because it had not been the best idea he had ever had, but at least he knew now that he was not going to be in the Air Force ever. it had taken him too long to find it out, but surly, maybe she would understand in the end. William had let go of her now, but was still holding her hand. he was sure she had to be used to that by now, because ever since he was young he would sometimes do that. hold her hand, no explanations really. but just the feeling of knowing he was not alone in the world , that she was with him helped him a lot. and that was the feeling he got when they held hands. “I’m sure...” he nodded, knowing that he might never get the love he seeked and wanted from his father when he told him; but he knew now that it wasn’t for him. “it was all just a lie..” he tried to find the right words, but did not think he could because the right words hurt too much. “not for me...” truth was, William knew now that his father did not love him like he should. yes, he did love him but not in the sense a child should be loved because he knew Chase only wanted William there because he was so smart and would do good in the Air Force. and it would be a legacy for Chase somehow.
Sophie wasn’t much for someone who would release her emotions, so when she did they all seemed to spill over at once. The concussion was no help in the matter of course either. But life was and always would be easier and safer with William around. They had been through everything together. No one person experienced or knew her better than William Adams did. The prospect of him leaving without her was one she simply couldn’t live with. “Why didn’t you text or call Will?” She asked desperately still unable to understand what could’ve prevented him from doing so. Even it had been his parents, what did they matter over her? They hadn’t been there for him. She had. She had always been there for him. It was all just too much for her. Sophie hadn’t even noticed what section of the library they were in, but if she had all questions would’ve become clearer. “You promise right? Never ever ever ever ever?” She asked into his shoulder, tears staining his shirt now. At his next words she pulled back to look him in the eye, concern along her features. “Were you not okay before? What happened? Where did you go? Is everything alright?”
sometimes William didn’t actually know how to explain things to people, the feelings he had inside. part of the reason why being a teacher might not be for him, since he could not explain things right. however, if there was one person in the world he would want to try and be honest with it was Sophie Evans. a part of him would always be with her, and be –– he wasn’t even sure what that one part of him that wasn’t her best friend wanted from her, but he knew that he would always be her best friend first unless she needed something else from him. “I promise” he nodded, not letting go of the girl yet, holding her in his arms as he added “never ever ever ever” he copied her, to make sure she truly got his meaning of ‘never’ there was no chance in hell he would ever leave her for good. the only reason that might happen was if he died, but that was a different story. William let go of her a bit, but he was still holding on to her; because hugging her, being close to her was something he had missed so much lately. “I kind of.. “ he knew she hated it when he did things that his dad or mom wanted that he might not want as much; but this had been something he needed to do for himself actually this time. “I was with my dad..I had to see..” his mind drifting off to the days he had in the air force with his father. it had been fun, and his father had hung out with him a lot, and everything seemed perfect but William knew it was sort of a lie. they was not around, unless he did what they wanted most of the time. even if he wanted to be good, and be what his dad wanted he knew now he would never be able to do it. “I can’t be in the air force..” he said, the words somewhat hurting him, yet it was a relief to say it out loud.
Sophie felt a comfort that she’d thought she’d lost return once he’d wrapped his arms around her, his words sugar coating that comfort in the only way that William Adams could do. “I missed you too.” She said, a certain deep strain echoing through her words as she felt her heart begin to burst. He of all people knew how alone she would sometimes feel. He was the only one he’d allowed herself to count on and he’d left without a word. She wasn’t sure she could fathom a reason why that would ever be okay especially knowing what the two of them had been through together growing up. It had to be his parents which would only further frustrate her. Feeling the tears coming on and throbbing of her head begin to hurt Sophie broke free from the hug and started hitting him, not super hard, but not gently either. “How, could, you, do, this, to, me?” She asked, hitting him once with each words she spoke. “Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been about you? Do you have any idea how much–I thought–I thought you left me behind.” She finished, now losing the strength to continue hitting him. The throbbing had only increased as she fell into his chest again. “I’m sorry.” She said after a few moments, now simply wanting to be in the moment with him having missed him more than anything else.
the words that came from her was words he expected, and once that he knew he did deserve. his plan was never to hurt her, but surly she would not be pleased with him for leaving her like this without words or even texts. so as she hit him, with the every word he let her do so. only in the end, he stopped her and held her tighter to him and said “I’m sorry, I would never leave you behind” this was words that was true. yes, he had left her for a bit, and not said much but he would never in a thousand years leave her behind here. never. “I would never leave you forever” he added again. hoping that one day she would truly understand what those words meant for him, and what he meant with it when he told her. no matte what, she would always be the one thing in her life that would be more important that anyone else. this thing, the thing he had done had been for him and not anyone else. he knew it seemed selfish, but he needed to get his mind off everything, and go with the plan his father had made out for him. to see if there was even a chance that it would work for him. it had been something he needed for himself. “I’m okay now..” it hurt, knowing he was the reason she cried. but he also knew he deserved it.
Sophie hadn’t said anything, but William’s absence had been taking a genuine toll on her. He never left without texting her goodbye or letting her know where she was going. The only reason she didn’t think he was kidnapped was because his maid had said he was fine. But she wasn’t really on the talkative side and despite all the time Sophie had spent with her, wouldn’t divulge where he was or how long he’d been gone. Sophie was beginning to worry that he’d left her for good. She swallowed that pain, which admittedly was a deep sort of pain seeing as he’d been the only one on earth she’d ever felt comfortable fully counting on. But now that was all being stripped away from her. The only logical explanation Sophie could come up with was that it had to do with his shitty parent’s whom Sophie harbored a certain hatred for being as protective as she was over William. Now Sophie was not supposed to be in the library seeing as reading was strictly off limits with her concussion, though her mother had asked her to pick up a book after Sophie had begged her for something to do. As she was perusing the shelves and taking her sweet old time with the task, Sophie noticed William up ahead. Her mouth dropped open. She didn’t know whether to feel anger or just pure thankfulness that he had in fact not left her behind. She stood there dumbfounded for a few more moments before the fact that she’d missed him dearly seemed to win out. She wasn’t supposed to be doing any sort of physical activity, but she couldn’t help but jog towards him to pull him into a hug. “Don’t you ever do that to me again William Adams.”
William did not think anyone would be around here, at least not anyone he knew. so when he saw her, his heart stopped beating a few minutes as the two of them only stood looking at each other. he was not stupid, he knew perfectly fine how she would react to him leaving her like this. and he would be honest, if she did the same to him he would not take it with a smile so he understood her. he only hoped that once she would let him explain she would accept it, and just be mad a bit and not hate him forever. “god, I’ve missed you” was the first words that came out of him once his arms wrapped around her, lifting her up a few seconds before he only held around her. for some odd reason, her heartbeat was just like his, and it had always been that way. it was part of the reason in 6th grade William had been sure she would be the girl he one day would end up having kids with. because as a child, it was as simple as that. now he knew that he would not ever be that person to her, but he would always be her person no matter what. and she was his person, and in a way they would always be each other’s. it might seem strange to some people, but for them it only felt right. once his mother had asked Will if they where a thing, and he had told her that Sophie was not his girlfriend, but his soulmate. in his mind she was, and maybe a soulmate did not have to be the person you ended up with, but only a person you would always love and protect and have some kind of connection with no matter what. “I’m sorry” he said, into her hair as he held her.
William had been away for a few weeks. not that anyone would noticed he was gone. well, Sophie but nobody else. it wasn’t that people didn’t know who he was, because normally William never manage to shut up. just the idea of friends, it did not really come easy on him. growing up he used to have play dates set up with his fathers friend’s children but when he left things just did not keep; and it ended up with him only being around Sophie. he had a little bit of a feeling that Sophie might be a little bit worried since he had never told her he was going away a bit. and not a text either, even if he had time for it. the dark haired boy just needed some time with this. his father had taken him to is work, and showed him off to his air force friends. he had all the right grades, and everything to get into this program and score even higher then his father had ever did. he knew that, and his father also knew that but it did not mean he wanted that. sure, it had been fun because for the first time ever he felt like his father made time for him; normally he would be stuck all alone in that big house in tree hill without his mom and dad both working and loving their work more. the air force somehow grew them close. yes, William knew everything about it because he had read and made it a mission to know so he could talk to his dad about it. however, he was not that interested in it. around his mother and father he often became a whole different boy then when he was around the few friends he really had. –– he had just come from the air port, but had decided to go to the public library before going home. he stood by the war section, and tried to decided what to pick.
