I fell down the stairs and ran to check if I cracked my phone screen but instead all that was there was this... So.

All my life I've had shit luck. Just about the worst luck anyone could imagine. I would leave work and my car wouldn't start, all the mechanics would be out with the flu, and a storm always loomed on the horizon. That sort of bad luck. The type of luck that leads to you having everything you own on your person, as if preparation could prevent everything from being terrible all the time. Cargo pants became my best friend.

But one day that all changed. I woke up before my alarm. Before. Not 20 minutes after. Not with 5 minutes left to get to work. Before my alarm. I had time to eat breakfast. I didn't burn my toast. I got to work early! Early! I was afraid to breathe too hard for fear I would break this magical dream world where everything went right.

"Holy shit..."

I seemed to be in a world of clouds and four leaf clovers. Fields and fields of four leaf clovers, stretching out into infinity. The clouds were in the shape of rabbit feet and they drifted across a misty sky. Dreamcatchers swayed gently in the trees, along with good luck charms from many other cultures. Some of them that I recognized were hamsas (a hand shaped amulet used for protection against evil), milagros (small metal good luck charms), I saw a nazar boncuğu—another one used for protection—and acorns? Not to mention the scarabs and elephants roaming around as well as the beckoning cats, which somehow I knew were called maneki-nekos, waving at me. How I knew all this information was beyond me, I felt like a search engine had been implanted into my brain and loaded onto the luck website. I squinted at the small eggs hidden within the swaying clovers, they looked like miniature works of art with multiple colors and patterns. I raised my hand and felt a strand of clovers laced closely around my neck.

I had the odd feeling that this was just what my brain could comprehend of this place and that there was something more under the bizarre surface. It felt like I was in a dream. A very strange dream.

Something cooed at me in a language I didn't recognize. I spun to see something peering down at me. They looked like a massive mix between a human with bright golden skin and something I couldn't explain. They almost looked like a four leaf clover? Maybe a rabbit? Were they changing form? All I could really decipher were their flowing red robes decorated with carp scales and the large horseshoe hanging from where I supposed a neck might go on this creature.

I stumbled back as it leaned down with a booming giggle and dangled giant grapes in front of my face.

It seemed to be speaking to me again, their voice gentle yet otherworldly, like my bones were hearing it rather than my ears.

An elephant trumpeted in the distance. Scarabs crawled over my shoes. The charms in the trees rattled as the wind danced past.

I felt a weight on my head, and the creature murmured something again.

I woke with a gasp, my body tangled in the blankets. I blinked in surprise as I looked down to find a horseshoe in my hands. The sound of my alarm rang in my ears.

All my life I've had shit luck. But for the last few weeks I've had the best luck of my life. All the stoplights are green. The sky is always sunny when I'm outside. I found $50 on the ground the other day! And yeah, sometimes I happen to wake up with grapes in my hand and a pounding in my head, but I think that's a fair trade.

Why I think Chess theory still holds up (deltarune spoilers below cut)

For the unaware, chess theory is that the main darkner/ final boss of each deltarune chapter is reflected by a chess piece, usually in descending power

but chapter 3 hit us with Anthony

I personally believe the final boss of the character is more in line with chess theory

and doing it this way around may reverse the order of piece value, but I’m working with scraps here

Then there’s chapter 6, people recon this will be an ice themed dark world since Noelle is getting back involved, so who fits our Pawn? Obvious answer is Kris, but that necessitates us getting our own body, which doesn’t seem doable so abruptly. If it’s at Ice-ee’s as I’ve heard once or twice, a mascot costume could fit the bill. The holiday house could be a last stand against the angel prop. If it’s in the shelter, what we just learned about friend could fit (a numberous foe that continues chasing like moving on). The hospital I’m less sure but it could be the block toy with its unchanging paths for the beads.
