On August 8th, the vaping market will be frozen. Any and all new products you may hope to create or sell will have to be approved by the FDA, and vendors will have two years to file their pre-market tobacco applications. Each of these applications for approval will most likely cost over 1 million dollars, and even then it is not guaranteed that the FDA will approve or accept an application. These regulations are a misguided attempt to “protect the public” from the dangers of smoking, but they are doing very little to achieve that goal.

Attack on the Vaping Industry

You may be wondering why the acceptance of applications by the FDA will be so unlikely? It is because the requirements are extreme. Vape shops will have to exact scientific studies and they will have to demonstrate that their product has a net advantage to the overall public health, which is virtually an impossible standard to meet. Businesses will only be able to survive these regulations if they have millions dollars to gamble with. This is, of course, intentional on the FDA’s part, and is about what you would expect government bureaucrats to contrive. It is this reason that small businesses in the vapor industry are looking at bleak futures.

FDA Disguising New Regulations

While this is all also disguised as a way to protect children from nicotine addiction, is it truthfully just a way to keep all vape distributors in the dark and out of business. This ordeal has been “justified” by Mitch Zeller and his agency by quoting the National Youth Tobacco Survey that showed vaping among teens is continually growing. However, his team forgets to mention the fact uncovered by the National Institute on Drug Abuse: only 20% of teens actually use nicotine in their e-cigs.
