In another universe, I don’t feel guilty leaving for college. I don’t feel guilty I’m gonna miss so much of my sister’s life, that we will never live under the same roof again. I don’t feel guilty telling my grandma that I can comb my own hair after the last shower before moving, that I won’t miss how she hummed and how gentle her hands would comb it as I sat crisscrossed in front of her. I don’t feel guilty when my grandpa puts my luggage in the car, he bought me that suitcase when I was seven and has helped me fold every piece that resides in there.

In another universe, leaving the only home, only people I have ever lived and loved isn’t so hard.
