Moana - Review
I just recently saw Disney Pixarâs âMoanaâ with my S.O in theatres some few hours ago and I must say; I very much enjoyed this film!
I havenât heard much about it on the internet and it is most certainly a travesty. Everything about this film was just gorgeous and very well executed. The voice acting, the musical numbers, the scenery, choreography, and the animation.
Everything Pixar has ever done has lead them to the animation milestone that is this film. That cute little short we all enjoyed before Finding Dory? That gorgeous sand is here. That life-life water is so effortlessly included. Every grain of sand, every droplet of water, every strand of hair; this movie is a masterpiece of animation and is just a phenomenal set of eye candy from start to finish.
The Rock did a great job (and he is somehow a great singer, did not expect that!) and boba fett was great as Moanaâs father. The story was such a pleasant take on tropes we often see with Disney films (especially calling back to some classics, most notably the devil/angel from Hercules) but they were all pulled off in such a way that I never found myself saying âIâve seen that before!â but often; âThis is a very interesting take on the good old X or Y trope!â
This is a very notable Pixar film and one that I will for sure watch again when it gets itâs official Blu-Ray release and one that I will for sure be sharing with my children one day. If you havenât already seen Moana this is a perfect time to do so before itâs out of theatres.
Overall I would rate Moana a 8.5/10 It hits a lot of really good story-telling notes and really shocks you with the fantastic animation and musical numbers from start to finish. While this is a story youâve probably heard before this is told from a very different viewpoint; and even though you know how it plays out, it captivates you and entertains in many more ways than one. A great film overall.
