Melodi kept her eyes on Callum as she could see the gears turning in his head as he took in her words. Melodi knew it was a big suggestion but she also knew he would know how much it meant to her. Nodding at his words, Mel stayed quiet as he continued. “I’ll put my papers in to get a transfer this week.” Melodi said, she’d been planning on waiting it till the term finished but this was more important than waiting. “But you love being on the front line? Surely there has to be a compromise?” Her own hands moving to rest on his neck before a small smile came across her lips. “So… you wanna marry me?” It was a slightly teasing tone but one covered in love.

Callum looked up at her when she said she would put in for her transfer, he knew it was something she was planning on doing anyway to be close to him and Izzy. And it meant the world that she wanted to get it done sooner. "I know I do." He murmured and let out a breath, but his daughter was also so much more important. "But I mean I'm getting older now, I have a child. I can't risk everything being on the frontline. I know I have you, but if anything were to happen to me -- it goes through my mind all the time. I couldn't leaver her without any parents. Maybe it's something I have to do, just take a step back. I don't want her worrying about if her dad isn't going to come home one day." He confessed, it had been weighing on his mind for a long time, and maybe now he had to bite the bullet. "One day I would love to marry you, but on our terms, baby."

Melodi listened to Callum, one of her hands absently running through Callum’s hair as he spoke, something she did subconsciously as a way to help call him down. She understood what he meant and she hoped that having come to these realisations himself would help with knowing how hard the transition would be for him. “I’m so proud of you, you’re making such difficult decision and I can tell you’ve thought about it for a while.” She hummed, her eyes still down on his. “One day… I love you Cal.” Leaning down, Mel pressed her lips to his, letting her lips show how much she appreciated his words. “I’m gonna have to find a place here faster than I thought.”

Her heart sank when she heard the words, confirming that there was next to nothing she could really do to help him but be here. “There has to be something, I’ll do anything to help Baby.” She said softly, placing the papers down and moving her hands to rest against his neck, one softly starting to massage the hair at the nape of his neck. “What if we got married?” The thought popped into her head and was out of her mouth before she could rationally think about it. If their relationship seemed more stable and legally binding, maybe they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on really. “I’ll sign a prenup or anything your lawyers do up… if it helps us keep Izzy with you, I’d do it.”

Callum didn't know what to do, he knew that she would do anything for him. For him and Izzy, but he didn't even know what could fix this right now. He stopped at her question, pulling back for a second as he looked at her as though to try and work out if she was being serious. Marriage to him was such a big thing, he wanted to marry because he was madly in love with her, not just to try and get him out of a custody battle with his ex in-laws. "Baby..." He said and put his hands on her softly as he looked in to her eyes. "I want to marry you one day, but this isn't how it should happen. I know you want to help, but I'll -- I'll work something out. I'll put together the schedule, I'll call my Chief, if I need to cut down on my hours then I will or maybe it's time for me to take a step back. To go in to training instead of being on the front line."

Melodi let herself be pulled in, one of her hands staying entwined with Callum’s as she settled herself onto his lap. The kiss was welcomed and reciprocated, her other hand moving to take the papers before she needed both hands to read over the papers as her brows furrowed together and the frustration was evident on her face. “Callum…” she said softly, reading through all the legal stuff before the papers slowly lowered and she was looking directly at him. “How can I help? Obviously they know I’m in the picture and I’m looking at moving to be closer… if that means I look after Izzy some afternoons or even nights?” She knew it probably wouldn’t be much help but anything she could do, she would.

Callum leant back in his chair for a moment as he watched her going through the papers. He knew he should have told her sooner, but he was trying to process it himself and what to do next. It was always a worry of his, his work and raising a child on his own. But he juggled it some how. "I don't want you to have to get involved in all of this." He said and pointed to the paperwork , running a hand over his face. "I know you help where you can, i don't know if they'll take that as a good enough solution. There's too many 'well it's a new relationship' or 'if they break up' questions that'll come my way. I asked my lawyer. All I can think to do is having some timetable together of who Izzy does go to when I'm at work, which I do anyway. Everyone always knows what days they have her I just -- I want to avoid them getting involved and thinking they can have her 50% of the time. They've never been my biggest fan, even before Izzy."

“Callum… don’t make me strip tease you all the way to the shower.” Melodi hummed, she knew there was more going on behind the scenes that Callum wasn’t sharing and he didn’t need too but Melodi wanted to help in any way that she could and if that meant helping him take his mind off it, she would do that. “Mmmm five minutes of me all alone, in your shower… all that hot water and steam… sounds perfect, you should join me faster.” Another kiss pressed to his neck before she pulled away from him. She wouldn’t hold it against him, she knew how important all of this was for him.

Callum knew she was trying to cheer him up, and maybe he just needed to be honest with her. His arms reaching out to her softly and pulling her in close. His mind was all over the place, and he needed her to know why, pressing a kiss against her lips. "I'm sorry I've been all over the place." He murmured and looked in to her eyes, leaning back in his chair and showing her the papers he had from his in-laws lawyers. "They want to try and get part custody of Izzy. They've put in a case, that my work hours don't allow for a child full time, that my work is dangerous so I could be injured and need the help. They -- well they're assholes but they put in good arguments. I've got to wait for my lawyer to get back to me before I respond."

She hoped it would help him calm down but she also knew that he wasn’t actually that mad. “If you want I can fill it out.” She’d offered to help with things before but she never wanted to overstep, this seemed like something small she could do. “Mmmm…” Mel hummed, shaking her head a little, “She only likes me because I let her throw paint around my studio, maybe paint some walls too.” With the confirmation that Izzy was asleep, Mel grew bolder in her moves, the hand lost in his hair tugging so he was now looking up at her. “Let’s go to bed, go have a shower… do something that’s not paperwork and I’ll make sure it’s done in the morning before she leaves.”

Callum smiled, she had a point. When Izzy was with Melodi she could have fun, and make as much mess as she wanted. She thought his girlfriend was much cooler than he was. Which he did find rather adorable. "No, no it's fine. I can finish it." He said and ran a hand down his face, he had been filling out this and paperwork for her kindergarten as well as dealing with some issues that had come from his in laws. Well, ex in laws. They never were his biggest fan, and they were making that very clear. They wanted part custody of his daughter. "Thanks I'll be -- well five minutes, ten max."

Callum always hated doing this kind of thing, this was not his strong point. He rarely had to sit down and do paperwork. "Well it's ridiculous. What's more ridiculous is how much they charge person lesson." He murmured and realised he really was sounding like a grumpy old man right, shaking his head. He was doing it for Izzy, it would make her happy, nothing else mattered. "Oh she is definitely asleep. She practically passed out when I took her to bed. She finds you much more entertaining to run around with."

Callum smiled to himself as he felt Melodi playing with his hair as he filled in forms for Izzy's school. "Who knew you needed to fill in so many forms just for a dance class." He smiled as he looked towards her, Izzy had been obsessed with wanting to dance at the moment, so he was enrolling her in to a dance class. Trying to do that and a million other things he needed to fill in. "That's nice though, don't stop."

Melodi knew the other mothers had been talking about her role in Callum’s life and why she had been spending time with Izzy. It never bothered her, the time she got to spend with them was all she cared about when they were together, on the weeks she got to spend here before she had to go back to her classes. “Iz is going to her grandparents tonight right?” She remembered it being mentioned but nothing had been set in stone that she knew of, however she was pulled back from her thoughts at the ass grab which brought a grin to her lips as they kissed. “Mmm it’s fun, never a dull moment babe.” But she couldn’t help the confused look on her face as she looked back at Call, “Why? You know I’ll miss it when I’m back teaching again.”

Callum adored being with Melodi and he wished they could spend more and more time together. Because it never seemed to be enough, every time Melodi was working or didn't stay over, Izzy was asking where she was and when she was coming back. "She is." He said with a part sigh, his wife's parents never were his biggest fan. Whenever Izzy went to theirs, there was always some kind of back handed comment about him. No doubt there would be more now they knew he had started dating again. "Just checking, I know this side of life to some people is boring. We'll miss getting to hang out with you all the time. She gets very bored when it's just me, I'm nowhere near as entertaining."

Melodi knew that as soon as her contact was up, she was going to look for a place closer to Callum and Izzy. She wanted to be here with them more often than not and their nightly calls were lovely but it was never the same. “Perfect so we have a night together.” She grinned, her mind reliving all the action they got up to the previous night. “Izzy is going to have so much fun, she told me they were going to have a fire in the backyard and roast marshmallows.” Another smile as she looked over to Callum before another child came up to the stall. “Honestly, I never thought I’d want this but I want it with you, I love spending my time with you and Izzy.” Melodi proclaimed once the child left and she saw the other volunteers coming up to take over for them. “You’re so much more entertaining baby, trust me.”

Melodi couldn’t believe they’d pretty much announced their relationship like this, although the little girl running around the stalls and telling everyone how cool her dad’s girlfriend was kinda gave it away. She couldn’t help but to chuckle as little as she was pulled in closer to Callum, as if he needed much to be tempted. “Mmm and they’ll look even better on your bedroom floor later.” Another tease as she bit down on her bottom lip as he kept complimenting her but that ended in a laugh as he claimed to have liked the birds nest on her head this morning. “I think the slight limp gives it away how well I slept last night, we don’t need everyone knowing how much you also enjoyed me on my knees.” A wicked grin was across her lips before she pulled away to help another child with some baked treats from their stall.

Callum didn't want to hide from everyone any more, his daughter knew they were together and frankly that was the only person he cared about. She was comfortable and happy about it, then so was he. Everyone else's opinion meant nothing to him. He wasn't paying any attention to it. They were just bitter and loved a gossip. "Well that they will." He smiled and snaked his arms around her, unable to resist giving her ass a squeeze before reluctantly pulling away before this became a full blown make out session. "I think we're making it very obvious to everyone how much fun we have." He smiled and leant in for more kiss before letting her go so they could do what they actually came here for. "So -- you like this side of things? The domestic life? The school runs and the bake sales? You make it natural."

“I do, but it matters very little now.” Tommy was blunt and straightforward, knowing how things are different now and it could never be how it used to be. But hearing her voice and having her presence here, it was soothing. Calm. “Have you Wed?” She wasn’t phased much by his tone, he’d always been a little gruff, even when they had been growing up. “Well wouldn’t decline a kiss or even a smoke.” A grin spread across her lips as her own eyes turned to the ocean. “I’m in town for a week, I came to see the ocean and reminisce, you being here was an added bonus.” It was all truth, she hadn’t planned on running into him but it was a welcomed surprise.

But she forgot to account for the lack of hair tools and needing to look like she’d not spent the night in her boyfriend’s bed with his hands all over her body and through her hair, meaning she’d stolen one of his oversized shirts and a baseball cap. “I mean I think the next shift starts in 15… Iz is still so caught up in the fun… we could sneak away?” As if they needed any encouragement.

The fact that she was wearing his clothes made it very obvious to everyone that they were together. Not that he minded in the slightest. It brought a smile to his lips, that they weren't hiding, that he felt like a teenager all over again when he was around her. "Don't tempt me." He smiled and moved closer to her, unable to stop himself from wrapping an arm around her waist to bring her in close, tilting his baseball cap slightly. "It's more annoying that my shirt and my cap look better on you than they do on me. You're insanely hot, you know that? Though I did like the messy bed hair this morning, you should have kept that vibe. Show everyone how well you slept last night."

She had a point. Steve knew accepting this key was him being just as selfish right now. He needed something to take his mind off the heavy thoughts in his head right now, the constant pressure of work was all becoming too much this time of year and he felt like he was drowning in how much they actually expected of him.

They were way out of town, there was a very slim chance he would bump into anyone from work here. Most of them were snobs, they wouldn't be caught dead with the likes of the average person. How did Steve get into such a position? - if this lady was going to show him a good time, then why should Steve refuse? He was going to give as good as he got, she wouldn't forget tonight any time soon.

"Heh, you've got me there. No, I don't. Let's just say, you've caught me at a weak point." Steve said softly, his voice firm but it had a clear undertone of grief about something close to him. "So. Tell me, what you want to drink, and we'll get a bottle to go." Standing his voice carrying a level of authority now, "Are you okay with motorcycles?"

Melodi couldn’t believe she was doing this, in the Eve of her new life changing job, taking a one night stand home or rather to her hotel for the night seemed like a bad idea but the room was being looked after by the company until she found an appropriate apartment, so why shouldn’t she enjoy it while she could.

“A weak point? Wouldn’t want anyone to think I was taking advantage of your misfortune…” she hummed with a small smile, looking over at the bartender who brought up a very old bottle of whiskey. After all, she was celebrating a new life, a new job.

“Motorcycles? Where are you taking me?” She loved the feel of the wind against her, zipping past things and watching as the world flew by.
