How to register a company in Mainland China?
China is the fastest -growing and second largest economy, attracting billions of dollars in foreign direct investment. If you are thinking of investing in China, it’s the right time. This article will give a brief overview on how to set up a company there.
Types of legal entities
In China, foreigners can register three types of companies:
1. Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE);
2. Joint Venture (JV); and
3. Sino-Foreign Cooperative (SFC).
Documents
Documents needed for registration include articles of association, list of shareholders, list of board members and legal representatives, and other documents, depending on the type of a company you're registering.
Time frame
In Shenzhen, the registration process takes up to one month. In other cities, the time frame may be longer or shorter.
