Le feu follet (Louis Malle, 1963)
every pairing i love: eleanor & chidi (the good place) “somehow, i never want to leave you.”
Ok I need to keep talking about this because I still can’t believe it happened. I absolutely love the way Valencia got a girlfriend. There was no dramatic coming out seen, no tear-jerking moment of self realization, or even a comical one like Darryl’s. This is so important because it made it completely normal. Nobody questioned it, or even commented on it. This could even imply that she had been openly bi since the beginning and it wasn’t explicitly addressed (think about it - when Rebecca kissed her in s1, she just seemed frustrated that ‘everyone wants to sleep with her’, there was no ‘ew wtf I’m straight’ comment).
The show introduced it with the same casual treatment they gave Heather and Hector. That was it. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has always come through for me, and this is some of the most sincere LGBT representation I’ve ever seen.
#the true love story of the show
“I’m a comedian, and I have my share of anxiety and depression; so do most of my friends. My humor tends to lie in the juxtaposition of extreme lightness - I’m a huge musical-theater fan - and extreme darkness. And so I really like playing with those because that’s how I feel.“
