i don't think i can express how much i love jennie lynn she's just the best
2003 outsiders issue 7
when you're at a point where you're publishing comics with worse, less substantial representation of black characters than you were in the 90s or 2000s, i feel like, and now maybe this is crazy, but i feel like maybe you should at least acknowledge that you have an issue
the fact that the creator of the dcblackout was essentially bullied out of the boycott just because other people are getting books is disgusting. people said “i don’t care that black characters/writers aren’t getting books because there are gay people getting books” and we’re supposed to act like that’s not insanely racist
dick told damian that gotham knights losing is bc their dad is a deadbeat thank you tomodachi life for existing in the same timeline as me
black comic readers will say "buying black lead comics or black characters comics from dc doesn't stop them from getting axed and it's been literally 1200 days since dc has had a black ongoing so we're calling for a boycott to put pressure on dc by not buying comics and instead directly supporting black creatives" and here come the dumbest white people on the earth going "but dc is releasing pride month comics, do you hate queer people? but dc has female creators releasing comics, do you hate women? this boycott is so disorganised. i can't believe you hate queer people"
This quote changed lives, dk about you! But mine did.
i haven’t been on twt in months and my mental health has been improving somewhat maybe there’s a correlation idk

lets take the hair straightener away from dc.
lets remove the teen titans cartoon from everyone's memory.
Mm finally joined Tumblr after years on Instagram…I can post yuri in relative peace…
Also I am completely OBSESSED with Kelly Thompson’s explanation of WHY Diana’s narrative position at DC as someone who characters fall in love with but she doesn’t necessarily reciprocate in a romantic way is written into Absolute Wonder Woman.
The way this from Aphrodite in Absolute Wonder Woman #19 engages with the fact that we cannot get a Diana appearance in a Valentine’s anthology that is about anything other than friendship and people crushing on her, that Diana has women obsessed with her in the text in ways she cannot fully return (see Barbara Minerva’s entire history and particularly Rucka’s explanations of how he sees Cheetah’s emotions towards Diana, see main universe Circe, etc etc).
It’s playing with a fundamental Doylist problem with Diana where she’s simultaneously always been an icon of women loving women (all the way back to exactly how the William Marston origins function) and yet she’s also simultaneously expected to be written as almost above the messiness of romantic attachments much of the time, particularly to women.
Diana’s been cursed/blessed to inspire and compel love from others, and like Aphrodite, because that love is induced she cannot fully tell whether it’s something she deserves or is involved in.
Now, she will never know whether someone loves her because they love her, or because they have no choice.
It’s so JUICY! So entangled in the shape of her storytelling! I adore this.
I have never seen another character like Mia Dearden. I have never seen a character assasination like Mia Dearden.
She was assaulted by her father. In Prime Earth, her father is a billionaire crime lord. Sure, it's realistic. But does it convey the same thing?
She ran away and was groomed and forced into prostitution. In prime earth, "Mia was able to provide for herself by stealing money from people and blending into crowds, often escaping using skilled gymnastics. Though she often used the money she stole to try and help her fellow street orphans have better lives." So, she is a cool teen protagonist in a ya novel who had enough to share.
She saved herself. She freed herself from her pimp cause one person told her she was a kid who deserved to be a kid. And then SHE FIGURES OUT HIS IDENTITY AND INVITES HERSELF OVER. In prime earth, that one person saves her in a damsel in distress story, reveals his identity and offers her a place to stay.
She got HIV either from the sex work or substance use that she was forced to do to survive. She sees no future. But she tries to show a brave face. Cause her father figure is crashing out over it. A storyline where she explicitly states that she isn't to be some pitied castaway just because she has HIV. This was in 2005 btw. In prime earth, I see no mention of it.
She CHOSE to trust these random strangers with her life and safety even when she never had a single man keep her safe. In prime earth, they are random knights in shining armour who are doing the heroic thing.
Every time Amanda Waller is written by someone besides John Ostrander and a select few others is just this meme but I'm not laughing
