Who needs wholesome romance when you can find a hot, obsessive, manipulative, and possessive fictional character. I don't know about everyone else, but sometimes I just get fed up of normal romance manhwa/manga where the root problem is miscommunication. Sometimes I just want to watch the fucked-up train wreck that is yandere manhwa. I'll scour the internet to find these manipulative mls/fls and binge read them because I have no life. hahahhaha... and now I think I've run out, so instead I'm just going to start giving recs in hope of helping other people find something they think is worth reading.

Title: A doting Yandere in Another World Won't Let You Go

Status: Completed

Synopsis:

This is an anthropology. It has 5 different yandere stories (one in each chapter). The is an otome game character, the second is a demon king, the third is duke/noble, the fourth is a princess's personal bodyguard, and the fifth is a prince who conquered the fl's kingdom.

My Thoughts: NO SPOILERS

While I'll admit that because these are short stories they're a little rushed, this was overall a really enjoyable read. All of the characters are certified yanderes. All 5 stories have really interesting set ups that (if the author wanted to) could be expanded into a full series. While its unfortunate, I find that shorter content (and smut) usually tend to have more extreme yanderes.

So if you're tired of waiting chapters and chapters for a crumb of yandereness, then I recommend you pick this up. It's short and sweet.

It has, I would say, a very intriguing premise. It gives Spy Family vibes if it weren't a comedy and Anya didn't exist. I love it when the fl matches the yandere's freak. At this point, I wouldn't say he's a super intense yandere at this point in the story; he's just been jealous of her interactions with other men. However, I think it has real potential; considering that he is a murderer and a spy. I love seeing a ml (who was previously disconnected from the love interest) get his comeuppance *evil laughter*

Overall, interesting story, good writing/characters, and there is lots of sexual tension.

Title: Let's Hide My Younger Brother First

Let's Hide My Younger Brother's second season just started! I think it's time to rec it because it's getting really exciting. Astair is the villian of the original story. He's possessive and manipulative. I'll admit its slow to ramp up, but ahhhhhh its getting so good. For those who love when ml's cross-dresses dress you're in for a treat (both people in the picture above are the Ml).

This was a good read. It has pretty art, a handsome (uniquely designed) ml, and a good fl.

Title: Clinical Trials

Status: Completed

Synopsis:

A suspense tale about signing up to test psychiatric drugs for money and provider-patient relations. (game dev's page)

My Thoughts: NO SPOILERS

This is such a good game. It gave exactly what it needed to give. The two main characters were so compatible and both felt like real people. The plot is one of the more original ones that I've seen for sure.

Angel (the main Fl) has ADHD. She joins a clinical trial for medicine because she's short on money. Lee (the yandere), I feel, is so obviously autistic. He has special interests, he has a flat affect, and he struggles to understand sarcasm and has a hard time interacting with others. As someone with AuDHD, I thought it was great.

I wouldn't classify Lee as a schemer, but he's not thoughtless. He would kill anyone for Angel, but isn't stupid about it. He such a complex character.

It's on Ichio for free. If you can't play it, I recommend watching Manybadass hero's video.

Title: My Charming Neighbor Has a Secret

Synopsis:

One day Fujiko gets a new neighbor. He's perfect! He's handsome, generous, and cool. They eventually start having beers every day on their terrace and occasionally he eats dinner at her place. Eventually, she finds out that he likes her and they kiss; what a dream come true. Fujiko enters his house and finds out that he has pictures all over his wall of her, has collected her trash, and keeps a diary of all of her actions. Will she be able to accept him, even though he is her stalker?

My Thoughts:

For those that like a more classic, more unhinged style of yandere, this is for you. He's pretty crazy. He had stalked her 5 years before moving in to the apartment beside her.

The fl is also sorta crazy lmao. She does end up dating and marrying him. I really like this one, because usually the fl doesn't end up the yandere if his actions are this severe. I love happy endings.

I don't see how you could go wrong with this one.

Title: Flowers Are Bait

Synopsis:

Lee-yeon is a tree doctor. One day she's out in the woods, cutting down the sick branches on one of her client's trees and sees something strange. A man is strangling someone. Terrified, she begins to run away, but the man doesn't let her go. He begins to choke her with a necklace. Not wanting to die, she smacks her chainsaw against him. The man freezes for a second, stunned by her beauty. Then, all of a sudden, the man he was trying to kill hits a rock against his head and runs away. She later finds out that he was in the mafia, when his brother approaches her and makes him take care of his now unconscious brother.

After two years, the man wakes up, but he has no memories. To stop the aggressive man from killing her, she says that they were married. Can she keep up the act?

My Thoughts:

Overall, I have enjoyed the series so far. I think that the fl and ml have a lot chemistry. And, I personally enjoy it when mls fall at "first sight." He's pretty possessive, but he hasn't really done anything super yandereish yet. I decided to recommend him because I know that he's capable of violent actions and that he's crazy about the fl. I look forward to when he gets his memories back. I think that his yandere tendencies will be in full swing at that point.

I will say that I think the plot is a little all over the place, though honestly I've kinda skipped over those parts lol. They mostly focus on lee-yeon's work as a tree doctor; occasionally we'll get some information about the ml's family.

Title: I reincarnated as the Little Sister of a Death Game Manga's Murder Mastermind and Failed

Synopsis:

One day, Mai remembers that her perfect stepbrother is actually the main antagonist in a death game manga. In the story, he eventually grows bored of only killing insects and other animals and decides to slowly pick off his classmates. Mai, now remembering all of this, decides to try and make her brother's life more interesting by constantly trying to surprise him with her weird antics.

My Thoughts:

If you've read any of my other recommendations, then you know that my favorite kind of yanderes are two-faced; they are seen as a perfect, kind, and handsome, but in reality they are secretly manipulating things from the shadows to try and get the fl all to themselves. This manga is the perfect example of that trope. This manga makes it so that the ml doesn't understand his feelings at first; he's a psychopath and has never felt connected to any other being. It's really fun to see him slowly become infatuated with the fl and have him not even realize it until halfway through.

I don't want to spoil it too much, but he is incredibly possessive and manipulative. I also enjoy whenever we get a yandere in manga; it always feels more intense than manwha yanderes.

My Thoughts:

I love puppy dog Yanderes. The ones that are sweet and simple, that are always at your beck and call. But there's just something about a manipulative bastard that really gets me going. And this man tops all the bastards I've seen so far. He's just so shameless. He's willing to do pretty much anything to get his way without regard to anyone else's feelings. I think that he probably immediately fell for the fl as soon as he saw her (though he would have never admitted that at the time), but he marries the fl in order to use her. As he get's to know her, his mild interest turns into obsession. He bulldozes his way into her heart through...you guessed it manipulation (she doesn't like him at first.) But don't worry he gets what's coming to him...fufufufu.

Anyway... he's definitely a manipulative type and I enjoyed him thoroughly, but I really love the fl. In my opinion she feels like a real person. She is so level-headed, smart, and loyal. She tries to keep and open heart and mind when engaging with other people.

But what really made this comic stick with me was the season 2 finale (I'll leave a huge spoiler in the comments if you're interested). It really sold me on the series and the fl.

And if you like smut the snu snu scenes are pretty good 🤭

Title: Side Characters Deserve Love Too

Synopsis:

My Thoughts (No Spoilers):

I love this one. It has a pretty classic premise, but the way it's executed makes it so fucking good. You get invested in almost every single character; you really like the characters you're supposed to like and you absolutely hate the ones you're supposed to hate lol (which imo is one of the most important factors to making a romance good)

The fl is absolutely obsessed with the ML (she channels the audience's energy lol). She's very funny and charismatic and is amazing at pulling people in. Watching her not give a fuck and be able to seamlessly bounce off of other people's energies is wildly entertaining.

The ML is equally great. He is suspicious of the fl at first (especially because he could read all of her pervy thoughts about him lol), but eventually warms up to her. I would say for the first arc he is mostly a Tsundere, but as the story progresses he becomes more unhinged (I will say that his jealousy and possessiveness are mostly played for laughs, but it definitely reaches yandere level imo.

Lastly, I think the author takes a unique spin on a pretty over done concept. We actually get to know how the Fl gets into the world and I think the lore gets to be pretty intresting.

Overall it's a pretty lighthearted read (mostly comedy), but I you like yandere's I think you'll be satisfied with Kyle.

My Feelings About It (No Spoilers):

I'm honestly shocked that I haven't recommended this manga yet. Luckily now is the perfect time to rec it because...THE ANIME IS OUT!!!!

When I heard about the release I was kinda shocked. You wouldn't think that it would be greenlit because the Ml is batshit crazy. I'm sure most of you have consumed some yakuza/mafia romances before. This has a pretty classic premise. Yoshino is the granddaughter of a yakuza, and in order to form a truce with the largest yakuza group in Kansai she get's engaged with Kirishima (the future heir of the group).

At first he doesn't really have any interest in her, but that doesn't last long. He falls fast and he falls hard. He's super clingy (he puts a tracker in her phone and he follows her around everywhere). He gets super jealous (I don't want to spoil, so you'll have to take my word). And he goes feral if anyone tries to hurt Yoshino.

There is one little thing that might bother some people: He's a bit of a womanizer. I know that's a deal breaker for a lot of people, but I still think he's worth it. Once his obsession begins to deepen he only thinks about her.

Plus even if you end up hating the ML and FL is so cool. She doesn't take ML's shit. (she's also pretty hot tbh).

My Feelings About It (Slight Spoilers):

This is one of my favorite manhwas on Webtoon's platform. Everything about is JUST SO DAMN GOOD. Annabel (the white haired woman) is a manipulative mastermind. She's playing 5d chess when everyone else is playing checkers. And she's determined to use her intelligence to save both herself and Lenore. We don't really get any jealous moments from Annabel (this makes sense when you consider that there is no other love interest in the comic, at least currently). She shows her obsessiveness and love for Lenore through her protection. It's made clear in the comic that she is willing to do anything (including facilitate other people's deaths) to make sure that they both remain safe.

I would label Annabel as a soft yandere, but despite that I still find Lenore and her relationship so intoxicating. Everything about it is so hot (I MEAN JUST LOOK AT THEIR CHARACTER DESIGNS!!!!!). Plus I'm not just here for the romance. The plot is so fucking interesting. And I personally really like the art.

If you like toxic yuri and interesting plots, you'll love this.

  Awwww…thank you so much for saying that. 🥹 I have two manga; both have a very similar premise to “Fiance's Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess.” Unfortunately, neither of them has been fully translated…

Even Though I’m a Super Timid Girl, I Accepted the Bet From My Cunning Fiancee!

This one only has 15 translated chapters. I would say the ml of this manga is the closest to Cecil. He’s cunning (even as a child) and has no intention of letting go of the fl. The fl ends up telling the ml about the fact they are in a video game.

I Won’t be Breaking off this Engagement. You Know That Right?

This one only has 3 chapters. 😓We see the story from the ml’s perspective. He learns that they are in a game from the fl early on.

I also have some manhwa that I think have mls similar to Cecil in that they are yandere/yandere-ish, but mask that part of themself so they can stay with the fl. They also, before they met the fl, felt like life was dull/boring. Then the fl added some color to their world.

The Newlywed Diary of a Witch and a Dragon

I would say he’s pretty cunning and manipulative + he manages to hide it from the fl until it’s too late for her to leave lol.

This is a reverse harem anime. The character that I think is similar to Cecil is Geordo.

Title: In the Dog House (19+)

Summary:

Even though Courtney only nags them to protect their family name she’s viewed as the bad guy. Then, one day Courtney and the Devon Family receive a letter from the Imperial Palace; it seems like the Crown Prince wants to make Courtney the Crown Princess. When she first meets him, everything seems too good to be true. He seems like a perfect man. However, she later finds out that the Prince has a bit of a dark side. He’s a masochist. Will Courtney discover a new side of herself and live happily ever after as a Dom?

My Feelings About It (No Spoilers):

 Oh my God guys, I love this one. To start…the smut is amazing. As the summary explains, the ml is a masochist. Watching the mc’s sub/dom dynamic might have awakened something in me lol. I like how they deal with BDSM in this comic. It’s a lot of fun to watch the fl learn about BDSM and that she’s into it. Both the fl and the ml are into the stuff that they do during smut scenes (I know this is the bare minimum but…I thought I should mention it because there are some works that depict BDSM as something you force on another person cough cough “50 Shades of Gray” lol) and because of that you feel like you’re just reading about two people who are exploring their relationship with BDSM and what works for their relationship. But I’m still recommending this as a yandere manhwa, so it’s definitely not a normal, healthy BDSM relationship (just to be clear.) Also, I’m not part of the BDSM community, so maybe take my assessment of that aspect of the manhwa with a grain of salt.  It’s completely uncensored; this might be a pro or con depending on what you're comfortable with, but I personally loved it.

I love the fl. She’s written well. She’s a person who knows her own worth and always stands up for herself; at the same time, she’s not needlessly mean. She also has a good head on her shoulders; she’s a realist who doesn’t tolerate any bullshit. Overall, she felt like she could be a real person. Plus…I enjoy it when she gets angry and switches to sadist mode lol. 

The male lead is my ideal kind of yandere. He appears perfect at first, but of course, he has a dark side. He’s the sub, so he pretty much does whatever the fl wants him to. But he’s also super clingy and obsessive and would 100% kill someone if they tried to separate him and the fl/if they hurt the fl. There are only 22 episodes currently out, so as of right now there are only a couple of explicit yandere moments, but there is definitely more to come.

Overall, I loved reading this. I think the characters are well written and the smut scenes are hot. This might not be for everyone, but if you’re interested… I definitely recommend that you check it out.

Hello! That’s a great question. Unfortunately, yandere’s are much harder to find in yuri than in hetero works or BL. Because yandere yuri is (comparatively) rare, it might be hard for me to give you recs that fit your exact taste, but here I go…

Games: (All of these are free on Ichio)

It Gets So Lonely Here by Ebi-hime

This game does such a good job of creating an atmosphere. The characters and background have such an old fairytale/folklore vibe. I love it.

Model Employee by nth circle

I LOVE THIS GAME. The yandere is so hot; she’s like a spider weaving her web around the MC. I will say that this game isn't explicitly a Yuri game (but you can choose a feminine or masculine appearance for the mc). If that doesn’t bother you, HIGHLY recommend it.

Crimson Devotion by Ghost Leif

This game has a similar concept to Pocket Lover if you’ve played that, EXCEPT the virtual yandere is a vampire. Adds an extra level of hotness if you ask me. It’s pretty short though (only 4k words) because it was made for a game jam

I had a lot of fun playing this. In this game, we play as the main yandere.

Comics: Light Spoilers

I’ve found that most Yuri Yandere characters are similar to female Yanderes in hetero comics; They’re all super intense and aren’t really romanticized. 

Barefoot Nina:

I liked it. The main yandere wants to be with the mc all the time. She at one point wants the mc to drop out of school so that they can be together 24-7.

I’m More Dangerous Than You:

Whooo…this one’s pretty crazy. The Yandere is pretty much willing to do anything to be with the MC…including kidnapping her.

Love/Death:

This is the gay version of Stalker X Stalker if you’ve read that. Both characters are Yanderes. If you wanted something more lighthearted/comedic, I’d go with this one. Though, it only has 7 chapters ( it’s completed.) 

White Angel has no Wings:

TW: Sexual assault and Incest. The Yandere is a really horrible person. However, the mc and her have an interesting dynamic. I have a hate-love relationship with this one.

Your Fretters:

I’ve heard people compare it to White Angel Has No Wings. It’s shorter (with 24 episodes) and in my opinion, is less disturbing. Yandere is super obsessive and isolating.

Getting to Know Grace:

Has a maid/mistress dynamic. We gotta love historical Yuri!

Manipulate My heart

This is similar to I'm More Dangerous Than You. In fact, I think that it's by the same creator.

Toxic Yuri:

Here are some comics where I wouldn’t label the love interest as a “yandere”, but are super toxic/clingy and still might satisfy your yandere cravings:

Maho Ineko to Ibarahime

This one is just a one-shot. Has a love interest who is obsessed with the mc, but there’s no real isolation or killing.

Let’s Kill Your Husband:

This one’s really good. The mc, as the title suggests, helps kill the love interest's husband (who’s abusing her.)

Talk Dirty to Me:

The mc is a dom and the possessive character is the submissive. There are some pretty good smutty scenes, in my opinion. The only thing is that the art style is…mehhh. The two mc’s have Dorito chins. It doesn’t really bother me, but I thought I should let you know.

Living Will:

The mc kills people for a living. Then she meets the love interest.

The Yandere Sister Just Wants me to Bully Her:

I had really high hopes for this one. There are just not enough isekai yuri in the world. Unfortunately, the plot is kinda all over the place. But the art is so pretty and both characters are so hot. As of right now, the love interest has acted somewhat possessive, but nothing I would label as “yandere behavior.” However, that might change considering the title.

Title: An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess

Summary:

Because Prince Cecil is so intelligent, he finds everything in his life to be boring. Then one day... his parents arrange an engagement with Bertia who makes the outrageous claims that they are both in an Otome game and that she is going to be the perfect villainess, so that Cecil can be with the OG heroine. Eventually, Cecil gets used to the chaos his fiancé brings and grows to want to stay by her side.

My Feelings About It:

Ahhhhhhh....I love this one. It's for sure one of my favorites. We get the WHOLE story from the ml's perspective (which, in my opinion, we definitely need more of in stories.) We get to see him fall for the fl and slowly grow more and more possessive of her. Plus...the fl is pretty simpleminded. I don't mind airheaded/dense charcters; they just live off of vibes and I respect that lol. Though, the story might have been a little more boring if we got the story from her perspective because she's so in her own world. The ml is the one reacting to the fl's craziness and moving the plot forward, so I personally think he's the more interesting character.

I love ml's that have princely masks, but are actually yanderes. For whatever reason they just scratch some itch in my brain. And Cecil is a text book definition of this trope. He isn't sure of his feelings, he just finds her "intresting" lol. Then as the plot progresses he begins to need her in his life. He's super protective of her and doesn't object to a little manipulation.

Plot wise this manga isn't that unique, but the way it's executed makes it feel really original. I definitely recommend.
