我抽着差不多烟又过了差不多的一天

My name is Yangshan He. People mispronounce my name all the time. My last name He（何） should be pronounced like Heo. Unlike people who usually name after father. He is my mother’s last name. Yang（杨） is my father’s last name, which is also the second character in my name. It might sound strange to an American that I am named after my mom and He is actually my primary last name and Yang is my secondary last name. This is not common in China either. Shan(杉), which is the last character of my name is my first name instead of Yangshan. Shan in Chinese means a kind of tree which is called China fir. China fir is a very strong tree, not easy to die and it is green for all four seasons. Shan also pronounces the same as the word number three in Chinese and it represents I am the third child in my family. Till now, no one I noticed have judged me by my name. I love my name. It’s meaningful and unique. So far, I have not found anyone who has my name on internet or real life. When I search my name in google, there are only 7 results and 5 of them are me, myself, and 2 of them are just not related. I don’t think I would change it. However, if I decide to stay in US, there is a big possibility I would give my children legally English name because people might don’t take my child as an American citizen based on his Chinese name.

This is my bike. I give it a price of $1500. The bike has never been through any accident and it is well maintained. It has witnessed a lot of my teenage days. I bought it two and half years ago, when I was in the junior high. It is not a fancy bike but I saved money for it for six months. I was such a motorcycle enthusiasm. The bike itself has given me so much experience that I would never be able to know from other places. The feeling when I am riding the bike. Unlike the driving the car, there is no roof and window that keep you separated from the outside world. No matter it is rainy or windy, you take it all by your body. When I am driving, I can feel that I am being protect from the car. But, when I ride, every single moment, I feel I am protecting my bike, using my body to cover it. My bike also reminds me my time with my high school friends. We used to ride to a lot of places on bike. We used to explore the whole city. After we got tired of the city, we would go to the countryside. I have got into trouble riding the bike too. I was once on the street and I was going so fast. The police tried to stop me. But I did not stop. I kept on going. They chased me for three minute before I crushed into a small lane that their car cannot went through. I was too young and reckless. I would never do such things like that again. After all, this bike stands too much for me. I will never forget those days on my bike.

Black and white film

Black and white films are like old picture that reminds people of their memories of the old days. Back to the days when the movie has no color but black and white, everyone loves them. Now days, movie industry has developed much better and it is still on going under fast speed. Black and white movies have already been forgotten somehow. However, the influence of the black and white movie will never fade away. It has motivated and affected one generation after one generation. For the black and white movie, their filming equipment, technology and producing, none of it can be compared with modern movie. The modern high tech and big coast movie focuses too much on making money. It is too much about business instead of a form of art. Modern movie would hire some celebrity who can’t act at all to attract people to watch the movie. Rashomon a very classical black and white movie and it is one of my favorite movies. It is talking about how different people lie and tell a same incident by different version to achieve their self-interest and hide their sin. No one really knows the truth of the story because everyone been through the incident tells people their own version of the story. Rashomon is acknowledged as a milestone to the movie history of Japanese and the world. And I think it is one of the greatest movie. There is no computer graphics or fancy editing in the movie at all, just black and white. The black and white in Rashomon gives the audience a feeling of mysterious and desolate which I don’t think is easy for modern movie to achieve.

Food wasting

We hear and see about food wasting a lot every day. But data is what we only see and this is not enough for people to realize how serious it is. The food wasted by the US worth 165 billion dollars. That amount of money has exceeded the budget for all national library, public library, federal jail, FBI, and FDA combined in total! In the meantime, 50 million out of 300 million of American are suffering from can’t ensure to have enough food. However, the food produced in the US is enough to feed 500 million people. The amount of water that people wasted has already met the need for all the American families. The United Nation has made a statement that everyone on earth would have enough food if we can reduce 1/4 of the wasted food. 1/3 of the food that people produce in a year get wasted. In the developed countries, thirty to forty percent of food goes to the trash can while poor countries only have a percentage between five to sixteen. One day when human’s population reaches 9 billion, the need for food would need to be doubled. I hope the amount of food that we waste will not double. Hence, the meaning of saving food is very important. I have made my point clear that wasting food is not cool. I would also suggest everyone be a cool person starting by not wasting food.

Hydroptère

Hydroptère is a kind of sailboat and I found it is so cool. The sailboat was once the most important transportation in the world. Although the popularity is decreasing dramatically in the last century, people are still developing the technique of sailboat. Hydroptère is now the fastest sailboat on the world. First, Hydroptère is a sailboat that looks like an airplane. The shape of it is just so sharp because of its aerodynamic and great design. I can’t help myself not to fall in love with it when I first time saw it. It is just like a boy fall in love with a toy gun when he first time sees it in the store. Hydroptère goes fast like a magic carpet, five or six meters above the sea, less than 2 square meters gets to touch the water when it is at high speed which is higher than a hundred kilometers per hour. This speed maybe doesn’t seem shocking. True, we can drive faster than it when we are on the highway. However, Hydroptère reaches this speed without any engine or motor. All it takes is the wind. I used to sail back when I was in China. When I first started it, I thought sailing was a way of transportation people would only use in the history. Then I found the feeling of being a part of nature when I am on the sailboat, sailing on the ocean without any sound of human machines. It was such a pleasure.  As the fastest sailboat on the planet, Hydroptère has proven to the world that sail is not history yet, it is still the future and the future is great.
