Addictive thai restaurant in Hong Kong

Thai on High is a charming and cozy restaurant, located in High Street, Sai Ying Pun district. The venue can welcome around 20 people, only walk-in and take away, reservation is not possible. The decoration is classic with a subtle touch of Thai culture scattered all over the place. After all, the menu is large enough to satisfy any craving. 

The thai culture is to share all dishes with your guests.

To start, Yap HK recommends the delicious pork neck with its special spicy sauce and the chicken satay with its special peanuts sauce (be careful you can be addicted to this sauce). Finally, Yap HK suggests the large crisp lettuce leaves used to wrap the meat, onions and peppers are the perfect counterpart to this hot, simple yet filling dish.

Regarding the main dishes, Yap Hk advises the chicken cashew nut, a delicious plate, a little bit spicy including some peppers, cashew nuts, spices and the tasty white chicken. Otherwise you can opt for the large crisp lettuce leaves used to wrap the meat, onions and peppers. If you want to eat more spicy, you can choose the lab with minced meat.

Finally, if you still hungry for a dessert, Yap HK recommends the Coconut sticky rice mango, delicious and very consistent, a warm sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut sauce.

Thai on High cooks better basic, comforting Thai style food than all thai restaurants in Hong Kong. It’s simple, unfussy and unpretentious. All staff is welcoming and pleasant.

Concerning prices, Thai on High is a traditionnal thai restaurant with perfect  flavours. Normally, each person has to pay maximum 150 HKD for a big meal.

Mama San - South East Asia dishes in an exotic Balinese décor

Mama San, located in the heart of Central close to the noisy and lively LFK, is one the best restaurant of this year.

Mama San is one of award winning Chef Will Meyrick’s Bali based restaurants. This restaurant adapts its décor from the ambiance of colonial times in Shanghai during the 20's, with a designed industrial ceiling warehouse. Mama San stares all clients during the dining.

Chef Meyrick is a street food enthusiast and shows his research of traditional recipes and culinary heritage during countless travels throughout South East Asia , collecting the spices and textures of the local food and cooking styles.

“Mama San illustrates a story of a madam of authority in an Asian gentlemen’s club, who takes care of her girls with affection,” Meyrick said, according to dining city.

If you are a fan of the vibrant flavours from India to Vietnam; spice, herbs and citrus are common ingredients of Mama San.

To start the dining, The Chilli harbour prawns with deep fried garlic, iceberg lettuce and lemon were, again, incredibly fragrant.

The favourite dish of Yap HK is the “dendeng balado”, or caramelised short rib. It is one of the signature dishes at Mama San. The beef fell apart at the slightest touch and was, again, intensely flavoursome, with pounded chilli, kaffir lime and crispy lemon basil.

In dessert, Yap HK advises the lemongrass panna cotta. This one is probably one of the best panna cottas in town, particularly with its toppings of cucumber lime jelly and lemon basil.

Concerning prices, Mama San is a gastronomic restaurant with flavours from all Asia. A meal for two with wine and service will come to around HK$1,000.

Tropical Island Getaway - Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge

Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge is the tropical island getaway of Hong Kong.

Located in Wellington Street, the lounge bar is elevated at the third floors, with a splendide rooftop/terrace. This beautiful bar is managed by the French mixologist and lounge partner Max Traverse.

When you entry inside this wonderful bar, you can admire a zigzag-shaped shelves holding glassware and liquor bottles line the bar wall. Outside, you can enjoy cocktails surrounded by a bamboo fencing and wooden lawn furniture.

The favorite cocktails, advised by Yap HK are the Polynesian Sangria with a tame starter that comes off more like drinking grape juice as the freshly squeezed orange and Polynesian honey overpowers the Cabernet Sangiovese.

  The name ‘Honi Honi’ is the Polynesian word for kiss. Yap HK recommends this laid-back environment with these delicious and killer drinks.

Childhood French food - La Cantoche (Sheung Wan)

La Cantoche, managed by David Sung, is the best place to enjoy the traditional french food. This restaurant is hidden on a side street off Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan,

The two-floor space of the restaurant is the place where you will feel like at home. A decor with brick walls contrasted with brightly colored chairs, Hip-hop and funky beats create a friendly and cheerful atmosphere combined with manga movies or old-school TV shows (like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) projected into a wall.

Moreover, you can play at football table in the entrance. The aim is for diners to feel at home.

Yap HK has selected two starters, two mains courses and one dessert for you:

Baked camenbert with potatoes ball.
