behind the mask [tamura&yacchan]
Yaguchi doesn’t even bother to give a spoken reply to the small offense, hardly looking at the other from the corner of his eye, strides taking him forward as he is determined to make his shared time with the other as little as possible. For one time he agreed with the other. Because yes, he knew how stupid this was. Sacrifice an arm for a stupid cat that came crushing into his house on his own accord was probably the most ridiculous and reckless thing he had done in a long, long time. He might have been playing the endearing type for too long, since it seems to be starting to affect his normal self as well.
He turns to face the other, golden eyes wide open in indignant surprise, mouth agape at his next words. Yuu would do that? Oh yeah, he probably would. That friend-of-all-living things and role model of every man. His, role-model. He senses the tension on his face, an unwanted frown and teeth clenching so hard it hurts. He didn’t had the intention to sound like his cousin, yet he’s still doing it. And he’s still being reminded of his own existence as just a lame copy of him.
He averted the eyes of the other as soon as he realized, turning his face to the opposite side. His steps growing slightly faster as he sees the audiovisuals room already at the end of the hall.
“You don’t need to tell me, I will” he retorts, hardly looking at the other. He isn’t the first one to comment on the matter of his broken arm anyway or to tell him to be more careful. The door practically there, he calls out at the other “Tamura-senpai, could you please open the door?” is not like he can hold the books and open the door when one of his arms is practically useless.
Crap. He must have said something wrong again. The fleeting look of utter shock that has breezed up on Yaguchi’s face did not go unnoticed but before Tamura could even have the chance to process it, the shorter student starts picking up his pace. Tamura opens his mouth in an attempt to take back whatever it is he said but not a single word slips out of his lips. He has no idea what he said wrong in the first place. Was it because he called his actions stupid?
It can’t be that. Tamura has said far more shittier things than that but Yaguchi has never expressed such a reaction aside from the first time he made fun of him. He can’t do this again. He just can’t screw this up for the nth time.
“Huh?” Hearing his name being called out, Tamura eventually breaks away from his contemplation and looks up only to realize that they’ve reached their destination. “Oh, yeah. Right.” Keeping the books he has perfectly balanced, he reaches out to give the doorknob a quick twist. Strangely enough, it refuses to open right away so he gives it a few more twists and tugs before he manages to push it open.
He lets Yaguchi walk in first before reaching for the light switch. But of course the switch isn’t working. The room looks like it’s been barely used at all. All the shelves are already occupied by other ancient textbooks but he catches sight of a small vacant one at the far back. “We can just put the books over there.” He directs as he steps in.
