This delicious number is the Pea Cardigan. It’s a slow burn, it takes like an hour to get two rows in, but the process has been a treat. It’s taken almost 1 month to get this far, and we’re about 20 rows short of separating for the sleeves.
Also casted on a Sophie Shawl using this whacky slubby yarn + mohair duo my mom gifted me for Xmas. I adjusted the pattern for sport weight and downsized to US7/4.5mm.
Been a minute! The holidays are finally over, and I feel myself emerging from the deep introverted coma that followed after a couple months of travel, gatherings, and countless hours of cooking, baking, gift knitting, and the like.
I finished a bunch of stuff over the past month or so and finally have FO photos to share!
1. Fingerless gloves (gifted to Dad)
2. Oslo hat
3. Osprey pullover
4. DRK Everyday Socks
5. The Little Black Socks
In 2022, I found out that I knitted 25 things! Eleven pairs of socks, 3 tops, 1 sweater, and 2 bralettes—plus a pair of shorts, a hat, shawl, and cowl. Some misc. gift knits are in there, too, including holiday ornaments and dishcloths.
Currently I have one WIP on the needles (a cardigan) while I work through a sewing fever. A good friend gifted me a sewing book for Xmas, and I dove in immediately. I’m obsessed. I made pants that I’m wearing right now. Will likely cover all of this in a separate post at some point.
breakfast table knitting today 🧶 ready to start the heel!
yarn: Paton’s Kroy in Mid-century Stripes
pattern: The Little Black Socks by Summer Lee
Little detour project making this toadstool ornament for the tree 🌲 only takes about 1-2 hours to make! I could make 100 of these guys 🍄
Finished gift knit! This shift cowl will be going to my partner for Xmas. (It’s so cozy. Obvs gonna borrow it.) Used up some stash Noro Ito, then worked in some Noro Kureyon when I ran out of yarn.
Also experimented with hand embroidering a tag. It’s kinda cute and something I want to play around with in future projects:
back to work on my osprey pullover… finishing the first sleeve
~cute sock alert~
Finished my bear paws in time for the Bear Paw Sock KAL challenge! Super fun and quick DK-weight sock pattern that took absolutely no time to knit up. Between travel, cooking thanksgiving dinner, seeing a show, and a few other excursions—I knit these up over the course of 4 days while going at a very comfortable pace. Super satisfying.
Also, these just happen to be the 10th pair of socks made this year. Woohoo! I’m almost finished with the 11th, and I may just make another pair of bear paw socks to hit 12. 2022 was the Year of the Sock in this neighborhood. 🧦
It was getting dark and had been raining all day by the time I finished the paws, but here’s a moody shot of these babies on blockers:
last minute color change for the bear paw KAL challenge. she is cute 🥰 happy thanksgiving in the US!
WIP roundup! Here’s what I’ve been up to:
1. Hanging out on body island with this Osprey sweater
2. A DRK Everyday sock in a very silly state 😅
3. A Shift Cowl for my love, using leftover Noro Ito from a Nighshift shawl I made early this year. He loved that shawl and yarn so much that he asked for a smaller version for himself 🥰 can’t wait to wrap this one up for Xmas!
Been working on some very unsexy projects: stack of dishcloths for a friend’s housewarming, and a knitted swiffer pad + DIY cleaning solution for me and my nasty floors 🫧
Ootd minute with my Hoarfrost shawl just before heading out to a work function. She was made around this time last year, and I’ve been wearing it to death since
fresh hot cast on 🔥 For the first sweater of the season, I’m turning some stash Knit Picks gloss DK into an Osprey which is a v cute V-neck top down raglan in half brioche.
This yarn has languished in storage for literal years, so it’s satisfying to finally land on a project that suits it. This yarn was meant for half brioche—such squish! Such stitch definition!
the satisfaction of finishing the gusset decreases on the second gift sock 😌
it cold — time to revive last year’s Oslo sweater! She’s made out of undyed BFL held double with a variegated-colored suri alpaca and it’s basically the nicest thing I’ve knit ever ever ever
Bb’s first knitted shorts! Always wanted to knit a pair, and I love them.
