Warnings: yandere! Illumi, female! reader, yandere, threats of violence, needles (i mean it’s illumi so it kinda comes with the package)
The day after the accident you came home to pack your bags, filling an old briefcase with some clothes, a toothbrush, your charger and all your identification papers. At the last moment, just before you’d decided to finally go, you pushed in a small locket you’d been gifted years ago on your birthday, deciding that maybe a bit of memoribilia would be nice.
You felt giddy, seeing as you’d never had an incentive to travel far, and now you had to! Everytime you wondered if maybe you should wait a day, or maybe tell your family first that you were leaving, your chest ached with the need to go now, to have nothing stop your adventure!
While you were busy stuffing your bags, your roommate had been demanding to know what you were doing, why you were packing and leaving right after coming home, but you’d realized after a while that it was useless explaining. If he didn’t realize you needed to leave, and would only get mad when you tried to explain, it was better paying him no mind.
When he’d started crying and begging for you to just answer him, you had replied with nothing but an empty gaze, and finally he’d gotten the hint to just let you do your thing right now. You couldn’t very well not go, after all.
Still, the questions of ‘when are you coming back?’, ‘where exactly are you going?’ and the eventual accusatory ‘you’re just going to leave me with the rent?’ got old quickly, and you were relieved when you finally sat in the cab to the airport, the taxi-driver at least knowing when to shut up.
There’s a slight spring to your step even when you check-in and receive your ticket for the next airship to the Dentora region, in the Republic of Padokea. You’d never been there, but weather reports stated that it was beautifully sunny right now, and since your hometown had experienced perpetual rain the last few weeks, it would be a nice change of pace.
To think you’d been in the middle of a shoot-out just a day ago, wondering whether you’d be able to survive, hiding underneath a table while a black-haired man crouched in front of you and talked to you for hours, eventually even calming you down. The gunshots hadn’t stopped, but he’d talked as if nothing like that was going on, as if you and him were the only people there.
He’d even given you the idea of travelling! Told you that it would be such a good idea, and you were inclined to agree with him.
