Fortune Favors the Bold
By Yattsu
Rain had been in the forecast, but you were not prepared for the deluge facing you upon stepping outside after your lunch date with a friend. You had met up in Yokohama’s Chinatown, a place you loved for not only its authentic food and its culture, but also for its proximity to the Yokohama harborside, with its parks and sightseeing spots. You had had a run of bad luck lately; your friend had invited you out here in an effort to raise your spirits.
Unfortunately, all of your favorite sightseeing spots were outdoors, and the closest metro station to Chinatown was a good 15-minute walk. Your small pocket umbrella was not going to survive this raging wind and rain, and so you hurried along a side alley near the restaurant, seeking a shop or somewhere to take refuge.
The alley seemed mostly void of suitable means of escape, but just as you thought you’d have to give up and make a run for it, you came upon a small corner shop with a “fortune telling” sign in the window. You couldn’t see inside its cloth-draped windows but you noticed soft light inside and an “open” sign propped against the glass. Already dripping wet with rain (and admittedly curious about having your fortune told), you decided to take your chances, and let yourself into the shop.
The door shut behind you, softly, a chain of tiny bells tinkling against it as it closed. You shivered, grateful for the warmth of the small entryway, even as thin clouds of incense drifted around you and sparked a sneeze. Rubbing your arms, you took in your surroundings, which were dimly lit and sparsely furnished; there must be a larger living space beyond the round, curtained doorway in front of you.
For the moment, though, you had to assess your own condition. You set down your war-torn umbrella and pulled off your jacket. You were holding it up to inspect it when a male voice—clearly annoyed—spoke at you from behind, startling you.
“Are you here as a customer? You’re making a mess.”
You whirled around to see a man now standing in the doorway to the inner room, holding the curtain aside to lean on the wall. He was slim, with choppy black hair edged in white and skin as pale as a full moon. He was dressed in a long Chinese black silk robe with a round black hat to match, but was speaking fluent Japanese as he looked you over with hard, gray eyes. “…well?”
You blinked. “…I thought I’d come in to get my fortune read; it seemed like good timing with the rain and all...” And all what? His staring was making you anxious.
He raised his eyebrows before letting his eyes travel over you again. “I am Akutagawa. I haven’t had any business today because of the weather, so please come in.” He stood up straight to pull the curtain aside for you.
The room beyond the curtain was even darker than the entryway, and you hesitated. However, as your eyes quickly adjusted, you were able to discern a small table, some cabinets, and piles of silk brocade cushions in the room, along with the censer which must be the source of the burning clouds of incense. Lanterns of red and gold cloth cast a warm glow over the room. You were about to turn to Akutagawa to ask him how a Japanese person came to tell Chinese fortunes, but you were cut off by the sudden grip of his hand on your shoulder. You looked back to see him holding a bundle of dark silk.
“You need to change out of your clothes; you’re going to get water everywhere otherwise.” He pressed the bundle into your hands. “You can put this dress on in the meantime.”
You looked at what he’d given you. It appeared to be a dress of the classic Chinese cheongsam style, with cap sleeves and silver dragons embroidered on black silk. Silver piping ran along the button closures and the knee-length hems. It was beautiful, but so amazingly random a development that you felt the bottom drop out of your stomach. You gripped the silk, your palms clammy. “I’m not sure I’m actually feeling much like getting my fortune told after all,” you told him, your voice tight.
From Akutagawa’s shoulder arose a tiny, snake-like protrusion with the face and eyes of a fiery dragon. It lashed out towards you, tearing a neat gash across the front of your own skirt before disappearing again. Speechless, you stared at your thighs, now visible through the gash in the fabric. It would be completely indecent for you to go back out to the street; your coat wouldn’t cover the tear. You looked up at Akutagawa, whose eyes glared coldly into your own.
“Put it on.”
You weren’t sure if he meant for you to do so while he stood there, but you were reaching to undo your top when he stepped back into the entranceway and let the curtain fall closed behind him. Thankful, you shed your battered skirt and soaking top and pulled on the cheongsam, hurrying to finish before he returned. You were draping your wet clothes over a chair when Akutagawa ducked back from behind the curtain. You noticed what looked like the “open” sign in his hand just before he tossed it to the side, a shadow of a grin on his lips.
He indicated that you should sit down in front of the small table, and you dutifully lowered yourself onto the floor cushion reserved for customers. Akutagawa sat on the other side, leaning an elbow onto the overstuffed pillows surrounding him. He tucked up one knee, resting his other hand upon it. “So what would you like to know regarding your fortune?”
You had nearly forgotten why you were there, but managed to collect yourself. “I guess just…generally, is my luck going to improve?” You did your best to suggest something, not sure what most people asked for when forced into a skimpy dress by a fortune teller.
Akutagawa nodded, and leaned forward to pick up a bamboo canister full of incense sticks off the table. “Choose one of these.”
You took the canister, shaking it until one stick shimmied above the others. Akutagawa took the stick and held between his palms close to his face, seemingly in deep concentration. After a moment, he sighed and dropped the stick to the tabletop. He picked up a black fan and opened it, fanning himself in the warmth of the little room. “I suspect things will turn out well for you, but I don’t have an answer for you yet. I need more information first.”
You dug your nails into your palms, wary of any further visits by Akutagawa’s pet dragon. “…what kind of information?”
“Well,” said Akutagawa, leaning his jaw on his fist as he fanned himself. “Your birthday, or I could read your palm or face…”
“My face…?”
“Yes,” Akutagawa lifted his hat off his head with his free hand and set it on the table. He let a crack of the same unsettling smile from earlier slowly creep across his lips. “For example—”
With sudden urgency, he dropped his fan, toppling the table up and over onto its side with his palm. That obstacle removed, he lurched forward on his hands and knees to seize your wrists. Pushing you onto your back on the wooden floor, he leaned down to press his lips to yours. He stopped, his eyes still locked onto yours, jet-black lashes now visible across the mere inches that separated you. He released one wrist, briefly, to stifle a cough.
“Where was I? …Ah, for example, your eyes, your cheeks, your lips…among other things.” He leaned in again, and you felt his knee wedge itself between your thighs, slowly pressing into you despite your efforts to squeeze your thighs together. He was kissing you more roughly now. When you felt his tongue force its way into your mouth, you jerked your body in a show of resistance, feeling increasingly terrified by how things were proceeding. He ignored you until you tried to catch his tongue between your teeth. He jerked back, clearly irritated. “Are you forcing me to take a different approach?” He gripped your chin between his thumb and forefinger, leaning back over you to breathe his words into your ear as you turned your face from him. “That’s fine with me.”
It was then that the dragon returned, accompanied by several more of its ilk as it arose from the cloth on Akutagawa’s back. They glided sleekly down and about your wrists, forcing them down where Akutagawa had held them. Akutagawa’s fingers moved down to your throat, where he began to unbutton the cloth knots of the cheongsam. Having undone several, he slipped his hand under the silk. You squirmed, feeling his fingers dip into your bra and brush over your nipple. Grinning at your reaction, he pulled the dress open and down to your shoulders. He pulled your bra down, baring your breasts and causing you to gasp at the sensation of his teeth on your nipple. “Now you’re starting to tell me more,” he murmured, circling his finger on the other. You bit your lip, trying not to show him your face so that he might be denied any thought of you enjoying this.
Akutagawa chuckled, continuing to run his fingers over your breasts. “You like this, I think… how desperate you must be. Has it been a while?”
You gritted your teeth and rammed one knee upwards to try and catch him between the legs, although you knew it would only grant you a temporary reprieve. Akutagawa deftly dodged to the side, grabbing your knee as he leaned back over you. “Don’t you dare,” he growled, raising your leg from under your knee and landing a sharp smack on the back of your thigh with his fan. “I do enjoy you fighting back, but if you injure me I’ll beat your apology out of you.”
Your eyes watered at the sting of the fan on your skin. There had been the briefest of moments when you didn’t entirely regret ducking into this shop, but they had drifted off with the scent of the incense that still burned in the censer on the floor. You shuddered as Akutagawa rested his palm on the red welt forming where he’d struck you, the hairs on your neck standing on end as he slid his hand ever higher up your thigh. Under the hem of your dress, you felt his fingers slide into one leg of your panties, and whimpered as he squeezed your ass. “That’s a good girl,” Akutagawa purred, dropping all pretense of this performance being for mere fortune telling. He let his fingers spread out over your skin before squeezing again. “Don’t worry; I’ll make sure you’re completely satisfied with my services.”
You didn’t want to think about what he had in mind, but you wouldn’t have had the time anyway. To your surprise, you were yanked up off the floor and backwards into Akutagawa’s lap as he fell heavily with you among the brocade pillows; his dragons pulled your arms up about his head as he ducked to lick a wet trail from your collarbone to your jaw, one hand pulling your head to the side to bare your throat. Between hungry bites and kisses along your neck, he snuck the other hand around your ribs to pinch and massage your nipple. You could feel his chest warming the silk against your back, and a ringing heat emanating from his fingertips as they moved over you. His breath danced along your earlobe as he ran his tongue tip along it. “You know,” he panted, “you can read how studious a person is from their ears.” He paused to dart his tongue inside, causing goosebumps to break out along your arms. “I think you require extra instruction.”
With that, he reached one arm down to hook under your knee and yank your leg away from the other. You tensed as he reached under your dress with the other; his fingers slipped into your panties from the side. A surge of energy ran along every synapse as you felt his finger land on your clit and slowly stroke downwards, dipping lightly into you. Your back arched involuntarily as your voice filled the red-lit room. Akutagawa growled as you felt him shift under you; through thin silk you could feel him hardening against your ass. He seemed to be growing quieter now, but you could hear his breath hitching as he panted against your ear.
You could feel your own resolve fading with every stroke of his fingers. He reached his middle finger deep inside you and curled it forward to tease you further away from your sanity. Unwillingly, you had become more than a little wet by this time and his fingers, coated in your juices, removed to your clit to draw silken circles on it. You were no longer able to suppress your moans in response to his attention; tipping your head back alongside his, you had begun to accept that your only path was to give in completely. He read it in you easily, answering with kisses of surprising tenderness along your jawline.
“Nearly there,” he smiled into your skin as his dragons released your arms and you took to gripping the cloth on his knees.
You might have responded, but Akutagawa was clearly a man of impulsivity. Suddenly, you found yourself flipped onto your hands and knees on the cushions. He had already taken up position behind you, and was smoothing both palms up your thighs and over your ass, pushing the dress hem out of his way. He reached and yanked your panties down; you felt the air brush over you, suddenly cool in your moistened state. In anticipation, you bent your arms down to afford him better access, his burning palms on your ass driving you crazy with need.
What came was entirely unexpected. As he held you in his hands, he tilted you up towards him until you felt his tongue press into you, lapping up and down your slit with torturous delay. Your back arched anew and your head swung back as he teased your clit, your body accepting this new sensation with gusto. However, as he exhaled hot air onto you, you were sure that he couldn’t keep himself occupied with this much longer.
Sure enough, you felt him pull back and remove his hands. A rustle of cloth and a shifting of his body against you preceded the inevitable, and you felt him grip your ass again as he parted you and entered. Your moans might have shamed you as he filled you and started to thrust, roughly, but it was all you could do to dig your nails into the red brocade and raise yourself to accept him in as deeply as possible. His cock pounded against places already crackling with electricity, overloading them with sensation and making you long for him to release you over the brink.
Akutagawa grunted with his efforts as he thrusted; you felt drops of sweat fall cold upon your ass. Caught up in his lust, his open palm landed against your ass with a sordid smack before his hand snaked around in front of you. You cried out as his finger found your erect clit, massaging you closer to the edge as he urged himself to follow you there.
You felt a tidal wave of energy warm your abdomen and surge through your muscles, your walls starting to squeeze him in spasms that forced him to withdraw his fingers and grip your ass so tightly that you thought he might leave you black and blue. You were startled by his own low moaning, which betrayed his rapid spiraling towards his complete loss of control as his pounding became more urgent.
Finally, you felt the tidal wave burst. As you screamed his name you knew that you had actually dragged him under with you, and that your muscles had seized his cock in a death grip that held him captive as he released into you. His head lolled back, his pupils erupting with the passion he had driven into you, his scratchy moans at once vulnerable and victorious.
He finally withdrew, spilling his release down your leg, but still unwilling to release you from his embrace. He pulled you down with him onto the cushions, holding you to his chest and still allowing his fingers to trip lazily along your thigh and between your legs. He nipped at your ear, catching you smiling widely in spite of yourself and the circumstances which had led you to this point. Drifting amongst the clouds with adrenaline and oxytocin surging through your veins, you wondered if returning to get your fortune told again tomorrow would be too soon. Akutagawa reached to grip your chin, pulling it to his mouth to catch you up in a deep kiss.
“I was right,” he murmured, finding his voice again. “Fortune has indeed smiled upon you, and seemingly, upon me as well.”
I’m sorry, but I love this alter ego so much and I had to. >_>
