āTo be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to change you is the greatest accomplishment.ā
ā Ralph Waldo Emerson
In the end, love always wins.
Sassiest lady Iāve ever seen, I think she changed my life. And Iāve never seen anyone on stage so happy.
Didnāt know that Eric Clapton was racist/ made racist comments. Tragic.
The Blues Is A Game
By Simeon Hammond Dallas
Does it make you feel good as you get on the stage?
Say youāre singing the blues so youād better behave
But it isnāt your truth, youāve no right to the name
Itās all whiskey and cigarettes in your eyes
Honey, Iāve been marching most all of my life
And you sit and make jokes about men in white cloaks
Then whip up a twelve bar refrain
When you woke up this morning
What went through your mind?
When you woke up this morning
Did you fear for your life?
Just candidly explain my existence away
āCause the blues is a game
So you pack up your notebook
And you tune your guitar
And you never once worried
If youād make it this far
But youāre ready to play
So you shout your cliches
āCause the blues is a game
You aināt got the blues youāre just a sad, sad man
You aināt got the blues youāre just a sad, sad man
But youāre ready to play so you spout your cliches
āCause the blues is a game
Iām a good, good woman
With a good, good heart
Iām a good, good woman
But you make it so hard
āCause Iāve got something to say
And it burns like a flame
But the blues is a game
When you woke up this morning
With the world on your side
Tell me did you read the news boy
Before you sat down to write
Digging deep for that pain
But it donāt hit the same
āCause the blues is a game

Sometimes we fall into old patterns
Old ways of doing things
And thatās okay
You donāt have to figure it all out at 30, 40, or 50
Nobody really does
The truth is, nobody really knows what they are doing
Confidence comes from a place of self-assurance, thatās all
You are allowed to change your life at any given time
We chase after our goals but we
also make new dreams, like how a scoby grows and grows
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow
āDo not get it twisted, forgiveness is one thing and relationship is another. We should forgive whether people apologize or not. However, the person may never be able to have a relationship with us again.ā
Poem for June 2024
Joy is
Undeniably yours, do
Not let anyone steal it, not
Even the storms, unexpected as they are.
āIt's not about the person who wronged you. It's about who you want to be.ā
āThe path to freedom from a grudge is not so much through forgiveness of the "other" (although this can be helpful), but rather through loving our own self. To bring our own loving presence to the suffering that crystallized into the grudge, the pain that was caused by this āother,ā is what ultimately heals the suffering and allows the grudge to melt. If it feels like too much to go directly into the pain of a grudge, we can move toward it with the help of someone we trust, or bring a loving presence to our wound, but from a safe place inside. The idea is not to re-traumatize ourselves by diving into the original pain but rather to attend to it with the compassion that we didnāt receive, that our grudge is screaming for, and bring it directly into the center of the storm. Our heart contains both our pain and the elixir for our pain.ā
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/inviting-monkey-tea/201503/why-we-hold-grudges-and-how-let-them-go#:~:text=Holding%20a%20grudge%20is%20often,is%20necessary%20to%20release%20it.
Holding a grudge is lighting ourselves on fire and expecting the other person to die of smoke inhalation.
"Love is usually based on a deeper sense of respect for who this person is.ā It isnāt based on looks or a lusty desire to be together, but something a lot deeper.
āAgain, itās about being what you want to be, before you have made it, you can still be it. It will attract those you need into your life and the snowball will gather its snow.ā
ā Donna Ashworth
What pain means ā
You donāt owe anything (emotionally) to the person / people who caused you pain.
Give no more.
Give to yourself.
āBalance vulnerability and boundaries.ā
Hold on to what you try to be
Your individuality
When the world is on your shoulders
Just smile and let it go
If people try to put you down
Just walk on by, don't turn around
You only have to answer to yourself
āTime means nothing, and character means everything.ā
