Shouji ni Mary~KINECT Projection mapping on Shouji~
"Shouji ni Mary," named after Japanese proverb "SHOUJI NI ME ARI" (the doors have eyes), is an amalgamation of the newest high-tech things and traditional things.
The high tech things used in Shouji ni Mary are the NUI and the Projection Mapping, the technique of using projectors to change texture and make fake moves on a real object (not on screen).
The traditional things are Shouji and the proverb. Shouji is a Japanese traditional sliding door made of latticed wood with Japanese paper pasted on it.
This application uses Shouji as a target of projection mapping. And KINECT sensor will track the user's hands and allows them to virtually poke and break paper on Shouji. Texture of poked area will change into the scene behind the Shouji, showing Mary's life at first. But when the user turn his/her back to Shouji, the texture of the area will be the eyes of Mary behind the Shoji. And yes, there are eyes on the doors, not only on the Internet.
