an: sorry, it won’t be a fic, but it’s a drabble that came to mind when i saw this. This might be triggering to some people, so please read the warnings, I can’t stress it enough. I'm most thankful to Yena for requesting this, because I never would have gotten over these thoughts and fears without this ask. Was there really such a thing as no sensation? Unconsciousness? Whatever it was would have been ideal, but it disappointed you that the feeling would never come. Your eyes were blurred with burden and exhaustion, fading grainily to darkness. Your body was limp, “relaxed”, you told yourself. It was so relieving, to not stand on the ground for once.
No evening of sleepiness would compare to how you felt now. Your puffy eyes refused to close, and yet, you saw nothing. Your brain, racked with pain and self hatred, was giving up on you. It was going too fast for anyone else to notice, but it was slow for you. Gentle, and peaceful, awash in a pool of your own tears.
But no, you weren’t unconscious at all. You acknowledged everything, your senses were augmented much further than they were nine hours ago. It was just impossible to act on it. Your head was leaning on the brick wall behind you for support, but just barely. It allowed you to hear the echoing footsteps of someone running your way, and the heat of a human body.
“Y/N, oh my god, no!!”, you heard him shout. The boy shook your unmoving body and gently hit your tear-streaked face. He, then, knew what happened.
“Water…”, he muttered, fumbling in his backpack for a water bottle. He hadn’t finished his own, yet. He unscrewed the cap hurriedly and let tiny amounts of liquid fall in your mouth. “Please swallow… please let me know you’re here…”, he prayed.
The refreshing sensation of water in your parched mouth was calming you down, and you let it flow down your throat with ease. Some of it spilled to the side. Too much water, reminding you too much of your own tears and sweat. You felt your grainy vision returning to normal.
“Y/n, Y/n… Y/N!!”, the boy yelled.
You snapped awake with a gasp. Suddenly realizing the situation, you noticed your own backpack still on your back. You tried to stand up, but he forced you down.
“No, don’t. Stay here until you’re strong enough to move again.”, he ordered. You just lowered your head, never wanting to make eye contact with him again.
“You… why did you come back?”, you stuttered. Your voice was still raspy from your impulsive episode from last evening, and it didn’t help that you were still so weak.
“I couldn’t just leave you lying there!”, he exclaimed.
“Jungwon, thank you so much for helping me, but I think I’ll be off now,” you reassured hastily, sitting up. “When I’m stronger, I’ll go back home.”
He ignored you, and for good reason. “You ran all the way from your house to the back of my school in the middle of the night and cried to the point of exhaustion - you can’t be left alone!”
“And why not?”, you challenged.
“Y/N- As I’ve sa-”
“What?”
“You gave me everything, but I couldn’t give you anything in return. I just loved you, and you made me feel loved, but I couldn’t make you feel loved. I didn’t deserve any of what we had at all at all! We shouldn’t be seeing each other, anyway…”, you argued.

“Then why are you all the way here?”, Jungwon asked quietly.
And with that, silence lingered between the both of you until the bell for the end of recess rang. You didn’t answer the question, but instead stood abruptly. Finally, you stared into his eyes. Deep brown, a land of nightmares to you.
“You didn’t have to love me. It’s okay.”. It wasn’t. And in the blink of an eye, you already ran too far for anybody to know where you were. To know where you, yourself, was. And you left Jungwon by himself.
He heard the recurring school bell ring again, signalling he was already late for his next class. Despite this, his legs wouldn’t take him to the school courtyard and to the main entrance. Instead, his knees buckled and Jungwon collapsed.
The quick fall startled him, but he was very much alive. His breath hitched in his chest and he struggled to inhale. There he was, lying on his stomach, contemplating everything that might have gone wrong. Everything that he might not have noticed. But everything was blank, a bundle of the agony on your face that simply wouldn’t fade away. Jungwon was simply in shock.
“The… the saddest thing... is that when I told Y/N I loved them, they thought I was lying. They... never believed someone could fall in love with them.”, he murmured.
It wasn’t until a few moments later that he remembered that no one was here to listen to him. Nevertheless, he continued painting a picture of his hurt. Tears threatened to spill from Jungwon’s eyes. Every single tear belonging to you.
“Y/N looked at me once, and I remember what their eyes told me. They begged me. They said: ‘Please hate me’”
