Self Checkout

I was running late for work when I realized I forgot to shave today. I had no shaving cream at work as I had recently run out. Not a big deal as there is a Pick n Save right across the street from my work.

I ran into the store, grabbed a bottle of shaving cream and made a mad dash for the check out. There was another guy walking towards the self check outs also, I promptly stepped in front of him and went in the lane with 2 kids about 12 instead of the old folks in their 70's in the other lanes, as they can't ever figure out how to work the self checkouts.

As I stood behind the children declaring victory, I realized they had a bag of nickels and were paying $3.45 in all nickels. Not only all nickels, but they seemed to take a moment to watch each nickel register on the screen before placing the next one in.

I was late to work.

Saved By The Bell

I woke up today to an empty house. My wife and dog were both gone for the day. No one to tell me when I had to get up, no one to tell me when to put pants on and no dog barking to be let outside. Life was good.

That was until I found myself watching a Saved By The Bell marathon on MTV2. It was awesome. Until I realized I had to shower and get ready for work. Couple that with the fact that the last episode I could watch was an episode where Zach and Kelly broke up because she was into another guy.

How on earth am I supposed to go to work after such a sad, depressing episode? Being a grown up sucks!

Fire Watch

I discovered one if the most boring jobs on earth: Fire Watch. A power plant I visited had several external water pumps. When low temperatures are predicted, they place space heaters in the pump enclosures. Space heaters being fire hazards, they pay people to sit on a chair, in front of the heater and stare at it for hours. Just to be sure it doesn't start a fire. No playing on your phone. No reading a book. Just sitting and staring at a space heater. I would rather shovel manure.

3) to a rural, dry county

4) in Alabama

5) for a "kick-off" meeting

Of these six points, number 6 (being at a nuke plant) is the one I hate the least. That's a feat.

Blood Pressure

My company hosted an in-office biometric screening clinic this morning. I got my blood pressure and such measured. My knife fell out of my pocket during the screening without my knowledge. They had to ask over the PA for me to come get it. Worst walk of shame since I crapped my pants at the fair when I was 4.
