How often do you think about the roman empire?
Malon: Link! Look! I think there's a creek over there! Link: A greek?? Where? WHERE? I WANNA MEET HIM
Flirting 105
Link: Aside from being this good looking, what else do you do in your freetime?
Malon: *chops off Lizalfos head with an ax* CLEANING UP YOUR STUPID MESS IDIOT
How many times have you seen each other cry?
Link: HA! Let me tell you, Malon never cries, I've only seen her cry once. Over a horse she really liked being sold. Which you'd THINK with me being HER BOYFRIEND she would cry seeing me close to death. Wouldn't you? *Glares up at Malon*
Malon: *pressing in a wound to keep Link from dying* YOU STUPID SON OF A &*#$^@ #&$*@ %* HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU TO SHUT YOUR MOUTH OR YOU'LL BLEED OUT YOU %^&$*#$^* #$*@ and for the love of Hylia, STOP CRYING
Malink headcannons I think about (A lot) -OOT Link and Malon
- Malon is just as broken, if not more than Link. The only way their relationship even works is because the other breaks down their egos just enough to allow them both to seek help from others.
- Malon was extremely lonely as a child. Being the only kid within a 50 mile radius, she never ‘hung out’ with a friend until Link came along. (No proper adult would have allowed their child to travel through Hyrule Field alone just to see a girl they’d only met a handful of times in the market place. It was always easier to just let her come to them.)
- Link learned from the Kokiri to keep his feelings shut tight. Not being exempt from the Lost Wood’s because of his Hylian blood, he grew used to being left behind during games. The only way to be ‘accepted’ by anyone in the forest, was to simply not complain about it.
- Link is an attention whore. Especially with Malon. Having never received much attention during his years of growing up, but having experienced it from the Great Deku Tree, Link craves any and all human acceptance on extreme levels. Aka: Quick to feel jealous, constantly nosing into other people’s business (What is Malon doing over there? Why isn’t she saying anything? Did I do something wrong? Is she mad at me?), and very very insecure about how other’s feel towards him.
- Malon being just as outdoorsy and reckless as Link. Though a bit more inclined to show him the safer side of recklessness.
- Link traveling around with Malon. Or should I say Link introducing Malon to everyone he’s ever known and Malon gaining the acceptance and approval from all of them.
- Malon helping Link come up with the best war strategies.
- Malon being like a guardian angel to all of Link’s regiment. (”Hey Captain, you’ve got a letter from Malon yet? It’s been ages since the last one, and we could really use a pick me up.”)
- Malon struggling to accept Link’s feelings for her because he’s ‘far more important and loved’ than she could ever be. Link struggling to accept her feelings for him because she’s ‘always been out of reach’.
- Malon and Link building Ordon from scratch. And I mean scratch. Like, overgrown woods, nothing there kind of scratch. Cue the Tarzan cutscene of his parents building a home.
- Malon and Link doing everything they did as children once more as adults. Staring up at the sky, chasing each other around, getting into mischief.
- Malon and Link spending any and all formal banquets the Queen invites them, sneaking out food and joking about people’s reverence towards Link. (”From now on, you have to call me ‘Great Hero’ or ‘Oh beloved Hero of Time’.”
“I am not doing that.”
- Link having the most backward sense of doing things. Like handing Malon an engagement stone instead of a ring (zora), grabbing people’s hands and jumping up and down at social dances (Gorons), and handing people papers of acceptance when he thinks of them as one of his own (Gerudo). Malon loving and treasuring every odd thing.
-Just them, I love those two
Malink Musings
“I don’t get it.” Malon shook her head, eyeing Link’s outstretched hand in wonder.
His head slanted and she watched as his bangs fell to the side. “Get what?”
“You.” Heat stole across her face as she realized her forwardness. Opting to ignore his hand, she dismounted Boots in her usual fashion. “I never met anyone who’s willing to do half the things you do.”
“I like working.” His shoulders rose and fell in dismissal.
“Me too. But it’s not just that.” She frowned, “I can’t figure out why you keep coming to me of all people.”
“I thought that was obvious.” It was his turn to blush as he shuffled his boots on the dirt pathway.
She narrowed her gaze, scrutinizing him more closely, “No. It’s not. I can’t tell if it’s pity or embarrassment that keeps you wanting to help me so much.”
Shock filled Link’s handsome features as he stepped back in surprise. “Pity?! Embarrassment?!” He sputtered.
Did he have to sound so incredulous? It was the only two reasons she could manage to think of. She shot him a cautious nod. Shrinking away from his exclaiming. He looked offended.
“Malon, did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason I’m always looking for things to do for you is because I like you?” Exasperation tinged his voice.
Liked her?
What the heck was he talking about?
Her confusion must’ve shown as Link let out a groan. His hand pinched the bridge of his nose as he shook his head. “And they tell me I’m the oblivious one.”
-------
“So that’s it.” Link huffed, arms crossing his chest. “We’re supposed to just give up because a few people want our lives to play out as they’ve imagined it.”
“What else do you want me to do?” Malon snapped, “I’m not you Link! I’m not heroic or brave or Zelda or anyone! I’m marked Link! Nothing about this changes that!”
“I don’t care about marks or whatever!” His arms flew into the air as he let out a low growl. “Farore! If we’re talking about being messed up, I’m plenty ‘marked’ myself!”
“Open your eyes Link!” She screeched frustration turning her vision red. “Half a year ago, “I did business with your worst enemy! With Hyrule’s worst enemy! While you were running for your life I was serving beverages to the people who were plotting to kill you! You act like that doesn’t matter!”
“Becaues it doesn’t!” He replied with the same amount of growing heat. “I know you Malon! I know you aren’t affiliated with them! You never were!”
“How?! What do you know of except the things I’ve told you?!” Hysteria filled her as she felt tears prick her eyes.
“And what do you know of the things I’ve done except the things I’ve stated?!” He shot back. “We both did what we had to do, all that matters is who we are now! Right. Now.”

The sun was just beginning to peek over the mountains. She watched it with lazy interest. Half tempted to roll over and drift back to sleep. Once, waking before the sun did had felt mandatory.
Ingo’s demands during the seven years had trained her like a dog. The impossible list of chores used to press down on her. Refusing to give her peaceful rest until she woke and begun her work.
Clinging to that after the seven years had felt like the key to keep herself from having any mental break downs.
When had that changed?
Someone let out an inaudible moan. “Fiv’ min...” Link’s sleep deprived voice muttered in her ear as a hand slid across her waist.
She smiled, nuzzling deeper into her Fairy Boy and shut her eyes. “Five more minutes.” She agreed.
Malink things I hope to use in the future
“Why are you so...”
“Handsome? Exciting? Mysterious?” He listed off the traits in the same sharp commanding voice he used when he was giving orders to his troops. An odd tone to use when complimenting himself.
“Defensive.” She finished, shooting him an extra round of scrutiny.
-------
“This is... very friendly Link...” Malon felt her breath catch as he continued to kiss the edge of her mouth.
“Very friendly.” He repeated, somehow managing to sound as though he were the one being kissed into oblivion.
-------
“One of your fans I presume.” Ganondorf flashed that mocking grin. The kind that had haunted her for so long. “Pretty enough I suppose.”
“You should see her when she has a dagger through your throat.” Malon growled, unsheathing her dagger for emphasis.
--------
“This is my favorite part of the day.”
“I would have though it would be your least favorite...”
“It’s my very favorite.”
“You’re only saying that because it’s a good day. What about when it’s a bad one?”
“I especially love the bad times.”
“Really? With all the pained looks and twitching, I would have expected you to find them satisfactory at best.”
“What can I say? I enjoy a challenge.”
-------
“I... got you some flowers.” Link shoved the bouquet towards her. Too nervous to look at her face as he did so. Any and all looks of utter disappointment coming from Malon would have easily sent him off into weeks of berating and backpedaling. Of all his horrible suggestions, Mikau had been right about one thing: staring at his feet was a great tactic for avoiding someone’s reaction.
Everything stayed completely still for a time. Worry tugged his gut into feverish knots when he couldn’t feel Malon reach up and grab the flowers from him. Instead, he felt something bat the bouquet away.
He glanced up just in time to see Malon spit out a petal. A blush heating his face as he realized he’d just shoved a handful of flowers right into Malon’s face.
And then she started laughing.
All the worry and stress of the past few weeks faded into relief. It was hard to know if he was successfully amusing her, or annoying her with how well she hid her emotions. Luckily, her laughter was the perfect answer for that.
-------
Link rubbed his eyes in exhaustion. Slowly meeting the gaze of all the delegates. “I think this is a matter you ought to take to the Princess.” Taking a deep breath to keep the room from spinning, Link pushed forward. “I have very little experience when it comes to political issues. In truth, I think it’s silly to ask a guy who’s never read more than a passing sign what a kingdom’s economy would need to flourish.”
He’d said too much hadn’t he? Everyone was staring at him with shock written all over their faces. Even Zelda looked surprised.
Giving a long huff, Link fell further back into his bed. Grabbing the blankets to pull over his bandaged side. “I think I would like to rest now.” Wait... that was rude. Popping open an eye, he shot Zelda a pleading look. “If you all don’t mind?”
The surprise melted into a smile as she nodded. “Let’s let the Hero rest.”
---------
“I’m no doctor Miss, but even I know that your in no condition to go back there.”
Din what a thick headed idiot. Still. He had a point. A stupid one. But a point nontheless.
--------
“Thank you Malon.”
Link’s voice pulled her from her thoughts. She sat up, confused. “Thank you? For what?”
“For not laughing at me back then.” He hesitated before adding, “For not laughing at me now.”
She smiled, shaking her head in disbelief. “Silly fairy boy, anyone who really knows you would know they ought not to laugh at the words you say. Because you’re just the right amount of stubborn and will that when you say you will do something, it will be done.”
“If only I knew what that something is.” He muttered, a shadow crossing his features.
“You’ll figure it out soon enough.”

... There’s a lot more where that came from... I have a problem. Anyways which one was your favorite?

Malon grabbed Link’s shoulders, shaking the stupid man in his place, “WHAT IIIIISSS IIIIITTTT?!”
Emo Phase
Malon: I try not to make fun of him too much, but after the events of OOT and MM Link had gone very emo.
Link: I don't wanna talk about this.
Malon: The thing is, Link... sucks at being emo.
Link: Malon... please
Malon: I don't remember much, but I do remember stumbling in on Link wearing his blue tunic and telling me to stay away because he 'cannot defeat the monster inside him'. He also asked me to try screaming Epona's song so he could listen to it on repeat and scare the neighbors.
Link: BLUE IS THE CLOSEST THING I HAD TO BLACK OK?
Malon: It all ended when I told him if he kept it up, Dark Link wouldn't have any role to play in this world.
Link: *sniffs* I don't want him to be homeless.
Formal
Hylian Noble: "The beloved Hero of Time! I did not expect to see you out amongst the ton. And you've brought your beautiful wife!"
Malon: "Yes, we're very grateful to have been invited tonight."
Link: "Indeed."
Hylian Noble: "Well, with both of you in attendance, I do believe tonight will be wonderful indeed. Now, I'm afraid I cannot speak much longer, as there are other guests I wish to bid well."
Link: "Thank you for your welcome."
*Hylian Noble walks away*
Both: *looks at each other*
Malon: *swoons* "Oh! The most belooooved Hero of Time! I did not expect to see someone as high and mighty as yourself amongst us lowly peasants!"
Link: "Why yes, it truly is a sight not to see me in my natural habitat of woodchips and swamp isn't it Great Goddess of the Devine?"
Malon: "iNdEEd"
Annoying
Young Link: I can't stand her! All those calls to listen and watch out and stuff! It's annoying!
Adult Link: *sniff* I just miss her so much.
Malon set down her water cup. “Better yet, I’ll give you till noon.”
All of the adrenaline drained from Link’s painted face. The charcoal stick figure on his right cheek deflating into a squiggly as his expression sagged with relief. “Thank you.”
Finals
Malon: Link, we have to study for this, I still have no clue what the heck the endocrine system does.
Link: Malon. A great man once told me not to ever let a silly thing like school get in the way of my education.
Malon: You've been talking to Groose haven't you?
Link: If I don't learn the top ten most surprising secrets of the lost woods, my life will have been a waste Malon! A WASTE!
Penniless thoughts
Updating a chapter is like swimming an ocean.
You can finish that sentence.
Behind them, Talon and Ingo gasped.
Malon’s face remained completely stoic as she stared up at Link. Who gave an equally void expression as well. Leaning as far as she dared to, Malon offered only one, simple word before pulling back: “Bingus.”
All was silent as she went and sat down next to her father and Ingo. Both stared at her quizzically as she stared at Link.
The forest boy stood there for a while. Standing in stiff attention. Just as Talon began to announce that Malon hadn’t finished her round with Link, the boy started to quiver.
The burst of laughter surprised both Talon and Ingo, shocking them both was when Malon followed right after.
“That’s... a low... blow.” Link gasped between snickers.
“You suck at making me laugh.” Malon answered with her own laughter.
