Goten lives in a mountaintop forest so hes used to shitting and peeing anywhere . He uses the toilet when it's too much of an inconvenience to go outside but he'll go outside . He got in trouble for peeing right outside the front door so he does have to take a bit of a walk to do it. But if he's up for it he'll make the trek.
And you cant do fhat at Capsule Corp. But what if you could ...? What if he and Trunks are digging holes in the yard and Trunks turns around and Goten is straight pissing in one.

If Trunks's grandparents looked outside then his grandpa would be like "Hey now, we ought to put your hole-digging to good use. Why dont you help your grandmother in the garden some?" and then Trunks and Goten spend an afternoon planting flowers in the garden .
If Vegeta looked outside the window he would feel sort of resentful becasue back when he first moved into Capsule Corp he didnt like the earth toilets and preferred to go flying to some nature land every time he had to go and Bulma gave him an EARFUL about how ridiculous that was . So then he tried to go in the capsule Corp gardens and lawns and Bulma had EXPLODED on him for that . But the children are allowed to do it ....?! Tch. Earthling women. They make no sense. (Walks away without ever addressing the children or Bulma about it)
Trunks knows on some level that hes not allowed to pee and shit in the lawn but Goten makes it look so easy so why not . It's a social behavior
