November 25th Update: Poll results + Tumblr NSFW Shenanigans
Okay, this is going to be a longer update post than usual, so let’s get right into it!
For the business-as-usual stuff, we’re going to be finishing off the Danganronpa V3 rulers this week. The Tsumugi ruler will be on Monday, and Kaede will be on Wednesday. Whether you’re fans of the series or not, I hope you managed to enjoy the rulers of these characters. The series is one of my favorites, which is why I’ve been giving it a lot of attention and was happy to revisit again with the latest installment. Here’s hoping for more battles between hope and despair in the near future!
Secondly, I would like to reveal to you all the results of our second ruler request poll. At a glance, here are the absolute totals of the votes from last week’s request poll:
The totals at the top may be confusing, but remember that each voter was allowed up to two responses, though some people decided to choose just one. In the numbers above, we see that our uncontested top dog, and the choice to steadily rise up to the top over the week was KonoSuba. The second place seating appears to be a close call, with K-On! barely inching out Fire Emblem by three votes.
However, a reason why I used a site like Pollmaker as opposed to StrawPoll was to reduce the chances of someone manipulating the results. And closer to the end of the week, I did notice a drastic shift in positioning for particular choices, which could mean one of two things: a friend shared the poll with a community and voted collectively for a choice, or some people knew how to (try and) vote multiple times to get a series they wanted to win.
Unfortunately, in this case it looks to appear to be the latter. So, here are the adjusted results after filtering for duplicate voters:

In a sense, I can understand why some of you would want to manipulate the results of the poll. Getting to requested series is taking a long time on my end, and because of that there is simply no way of getting to every series without a long wait period involved. Perhaps this means I need to do request polls more frequently for more opportunities, but I apologize to those anticipating releases from your favorite series all the same.
However, to make it fair to everyone that participated, I will be filtering the multiple votes from the poll by those that tried to do so. Therefore, the two official winners of the poll are KonoSuba and Fire Emblem. Congratulations to the winners, and please look forward to seeing them in the coming weeks.
That brings us to the final, unfortunate topic that’s affected many Tumblr users recently, both followers and creators alike: the NSFW blog removals.
First and foremost, if you’re reading this at the moment, I obviously I haven’t been taken down. Furthermore, I plan to continue posting here as long as I’m given the platform for it.
Am I at risk? Well, the ruler edits themselves are pretty tame, honestly. I’ve made it a point to keep nudity out of the reaction images from the very beginning, both to make it easier share with others and because it’d be unnecessary anyways. They still contain plenty of crude language and implied sex, but I think as long as I continue avoid showing anything explicit in them we’ll be well under Tumblr’s ban radar. At least I hope.
The short stories/captions posted on Fridays are probably more contentious and risky. I don’t know if I should stop posting them altogether, but I’d prefer not to if I can. I eventually intend to explore longer forms of writing in the near future, releasing full chapters of stories involving SPH, netorare, corruption, and the like. You know, the same kind of stuff you see in the captions: just longer. I would like to keep making this kind of erotic fiction material and sharing it, but I’d be interested in hearing your opinions as well.
Are there plans to move or vacate the rulers to another location? Well, at the very least, I have a twitter account that you can follow if you like: https://twitter.com/YfiCaptions. The only thing I’ve used it for so far is linking to my Tumblr account as a backup, but if something happens here I can at least message any followers on Twitter. I’m also working on setting up a gallery on a site like e-hentai where the rulers will be available even if the blog gets pulled down. I was planning on doing that when we had hit 100 rulers anyway, but this whole Tumblr debacle may fast track that idea sooner than I’d anticipated. Whenever a gallery is made available, I’ll be sure to let everyone know.
The challenge with moving to most other sites is that I’m more of a graphic designer/writer than an artist, and being an editor of art instead of the one creating it prevents me from using certain sites like hentai-foundry and possibly others. Perhaps pixiv would be a good location, but I don’t use it as much so I’m unaware of the guidelines. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Alternatively, I could also set up a Patreon platform and just not lock anything behind a paywall. As I understand it, you can follow people on Patreon without donating, and Patreon has their own method of creating polls that I can use for making them a regular occurrence as well, which could be handy.
If it turns out there was interest in financial backing, then maybe there’d be separate voting tiers? Increasing the frequency of releases back to three or even four/five times a week? Even maybe a possibility of creating physical, real rulers to be shipped to backers? Organizing artists, manufacturers, and shipping would make this last one more of a pipe-dream, but who knows what could happen I guess. Again, please feel free to let me know your thoughts on any of this by messaging me, commenting, or sending an ask. I’d like to hear your thoughts.
