Just posting a quick update on how things are shaping up on Y!gallery since we’ve gone live.  We now have:

3549 Written comments

441 PMs sent

9 polls created

29,683 Keywords assigned to submissions

2145 Active sessions

2.1gb of content

 As for bugs fixed:

Fixed an issue where someone else’s submission thumbnail would show up instead of your own for the “next” and “previous” post links Fixed an issue where users were logged out randomly Added a way to view flash games/files without flash installed Various other minor bugs ironed out

UPDATE JANUARY 2 2020

Hi all and welcome to 2020!  If you’re one of those that follow our progress on Discord, then you probably already know that we’re open sourcing various components that are getting used on the Y!g site. The components have been put on @brocococonut’s personal github so they’re not affiliated with Y!g. This makes them more easily used by other organizations and individuals in their own projects.

Currently, the only two open sourced projects are the Toast js/css utility that shows up when something happens, and the SCSS/CSS framework that will make Y!g look how it does when it goes live. You can see both of those in the images above.  (Note: The orange text is experimental and we haven’t decided upon a color just yet.)

We’re constantly working on the site, and we appreciate your support and patience while we do. Unfortunately, other life commitments have made this a long and drawn out process. Hopefully the above shows that we’re still dedicated to the project and that we’re working as hard and as much as we can on it. Thank you to all of our fans, supporters, patrons, and staff for your contributions, support, and patience while we work on this :) We hope you all had a fantastic holiday period, and a great new year! - The Y!gallery Team :)

Update Sept 9

We’re getting closer to being able to go live! 

Our techs need to finish up the core features such as comments, updates, messenger systems (private messages and live notification), as well as the friends list and then we should be good to go.  The server side stuff for the comments is already done, they just have to implement viewing them and a way for posting them.

Two of those are quite large things to get done, but our techs say the work is going smoothly so far, so it shouldn’t be difficult.  

Right now they’ve made visual improvements to some pages and would like to make changes to the general appearance as well.

Looks like we are seeing the end of the tunnel folks! :)

Is there a chance that any of the virgin works on Y!gallery were recovered by the development team only to light the black candle - releasing the unholy powers of the Sanderson Sisters on the unsuspecting town of Salem on Halloween Night? I'd like all of you to take responsibility, in that case.

Ahahah, thanks for that :) I needed a good laugh :DWell, it's not my place to say who is and isn't a virgin on the staff and development team, but I can assure you, we're not stupid enough to light THAT candle~ if anyone happens to prove me wrong there, then I guess they'll need to be held accountable :P

Hi! This may have been asked already but, is there any way to read the works that were on Y-Gallery? Some authors only uploaded full versions of chapters (strong content and all that) to Y-Gallery, and I’m curious. Please answer as soon as you can, please. And sorry to bother xx

Update June25

Hi all.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, Blade and Broco haven’t had a whole lot of time to work on the site as of recently. Blade is a week away from his final math exam (I think?), then he’s off for 3 months or so, so he should be able to work on the site then.

Broco has been coding, but not on Y!g unfortunately. He’s been working on a freelance project to try and support himself and he has an interview tomorrow for IBM Cloud, so if he gets that job, he should be a bit more stable and be able to get back to the site as well.

Both Broco and Blade apologize to everyone for how delayed everything is, but be assured, they’ll be back to working on the site as soon as they can.

Update May 31

Hi folks.  Sorry there hasn’t been any updates in a while.  Both our techs, while they have been working on the site on and off, have been dealing with some personal things and they haven’t been able to work on it as much as they did before, so there’s not a lot new to report at this time.  They’re both trying to get past these issues and have promised to be get into the swing of things soon and be more productive on the site.  Please lend them your support and understanding. <3

APRIL UPDATE #3

All your writers will be excited to know that our techs have been working on a new markdown editor.  It will have fullscreen support as well as some buttons to help with styling (bold, italics, subscript, headers, bullet points, numbered points, and tables).  You will also be able to embed links and images into your story.   You’ll be able to put any image on the left or right side and have text flow around them, or put them in the middle as their own block and have the text above and below the image.   You will also be able to resize the images larger or smaller and have the option of putting them behind a blur (sort of the same idea as putting text behind a spoiler tag), so that the image will only be shown when you hover on it.   All of the markdown features and embedded image features will be available not only for literary submissions, but also be available to use in comments, your journals and on your profile pages as well.  :)

April Update #2

Hi everyone.  Just a note to let you know that the site is more stable and because of that we are now doing a pre-alpha of the site with just a few selected members. 

The site is still in its infancy stages, and there’s still a lot of construction to go, but so far the feedback seems to be quite positive and helpful.

When we’ve finished the pre-alpha, we’ll add more people to make it an invite-only alpha (same as what we’ve done with the pre-alpha).   If all goes well, we’ll then add a larger amount of people to have a closed beta. Then we’ll have an open beta which will be public to everyone. 

Our techs will be posting some screenshots of the goings on in the upcoming days and weeks and we’ll keep everyone informed when we begin to add more people to the site.

April Update

Hi all. I know this is just a small update, but just wanted to keep everyone abreast of where we’re at.  Our techs are making good progress on the settings page. Our techs have the front end of that page done and just need to finish the backend of it.   I’ll continue to update as more items get finished.  Thank you all for your patience and support.

March Update

We want to continue updating you all about the actual progress of the site, so  here’s a small update from our head developer, Brocococonut:

“We’ve been working hard on making everything as clean as possible on our end so as to make development as easy as possible. The settings page has been mostly blocked out and is coming along nicely.  We’ve fixed a couple small bugs here and there around the interface and the backend as well as made the error messages explain what’s going on a bit better.” We know it’s been slow going, but our guys are still on it.  We’re pleased to say we have a third tech person, Snowbloop, giving Broco and Blade some help, so hopefully things will move a little quicker. 

We’ll continue to update you here and on the discord at least once a month.

I really dig the logo. The purple definitely suits it well. For some reason, I'd love the site to be purple.
