Make your own rules……..
Epiphany! Why have I spent my whole adult life looking for a ‘plan’ to follow? Looking for a course to teach me stuff? Listening to people who don’t know me but say that they have the answers……..
As someone who considers themselves to be reasonable intelligent, when I write these things in black & white, I am stunned it has taken me to to the age of (nearly) 49 to work out that I have the answers and only I can sort myself out.
Interesting. Now is the time to apply yoga to my life and sort my shit out!
It’s fair to say I reached a point of study fatigue last week. Getting grouchy about lack of time, not happy with study materials and getting frustrated that nothing was ‘going in’ (as in staying in my 48 year old brain 🙈)
I have to often remind myself of some basic rules of a yoga lifestyle.
Make sure YOU are ok and then your ok-ness will spill over to:
Make sure your family are ok
So today, I spent time with my family. Only minimal time spent studying 📚 rounded off with a lovely swim.
It was very much needed after months of full on study and trying to implement EVERYTHING I have been learning (not even vaguely possible). It’s going to take a loooooong time to implement everything. One of the things we were reminded of by our teacher in yesterday’s lesson was that it’s called yoga ‘practice’ for a reason. If things go wrong, get up and start again.
I have made time this evening for some gentle, meditative Asana & Pranayama. Hopefully this will help with sleep 💤
So tomorrow I will try to implement my new ‘Achara’ (routine). It starts at 6am and getting up has always been a problem form me, so wish me luck 🙃
Hi! My name is Karen and I am a Holistic Therapist/Tutor and recently qualified Yoga Teacher. I studied authentic & traditional yoga with the Wise Living Yoga Academy in Thailand.
I have since continued my studies by taking courses in Ayurvedic diet, Yoga for Mental Health & Scientific Asana.
My plan is to provide 121 yoga, online classes and workshops.
Stay tuned for my thoughts & ramblings 😊
