That was a little subdued, huh? This is an English proverb that means in a time of need, you see who your real friends are.
This was sent in by listener Milk-Tea-san of Saitama. The message reads:
“Ohno-kun, good morning. This year, Arashi’s Arena Tour is longer than usual so you’re together for longer as well. So the relationship between the members would be deeper than your average year as well, right? I bet the members have a presence that surpasses friendship so I figured that ties in well to this proverb, which is why I sent this mail in.”
Oh. Thank you very much, really. But like, this year, as Arashi, we’ve kinda… I mean, of course there’s been a substantial amount of individual work as well, but somehow or another, our work as Arashi… right? The five of us have been together quite a bit. And we were given the opportunity to do the Arena Tour again after 9 years.
So like, at fixed intervals, it’s always, like, what… throughout this year, it’s really felt like we’ve been constantly doing concerts.
And then like, I’ve mentioned it a few times but we’ve often had desserts. This has been a thing since the Arena Tour this year. Like Aiba-chan and me, we eat desserts before the actual performances.
Generally chocolate cake tends to be the most common. We’d eat that and be like, “How delicious~♪” Kinda raising our feminine powers before the actual performance.
At first, what was it? Ah, at first, we started off in Fukui so basically, it probably began with the catering. They probably had dessert prepared as well.
So like, it was like, it really looked good so we decided to eat it. So it started from there. And then no matter where we went, there was always dessert prepared for us.
So like, at first they prepared it inside our dressing rooms. It was like, sorry for the trouble! Then it continued on to the Dome Tour. The Dome Tour began at Sapporo, so they even had the desserts prepared in our dressing rooms and kept inside a glass case.
“Uwaa, we’ve gotta eat this!” So like, the five of us ate it. And then we were all like, “How delicious!” and the five of us ate it.
The very first ones to start it all was me and Aiba-chan, but along the way, it happened that Sho-kun… Sho-kun started eating first. Not only that, but he ate about two of them. “I’ve had too much～♡” he said. (laughs)
So that’s how our year has been, for Arashi this year. Mm.
But well, really, it’s been a pretty substantial year, hasn’t it? Mm. But well, really, today with the Dome Tour as well, that ends this year’s portion of it. Mm.
And then after that, there’s the Kouhaku Utagassen. It’s all from then on! Aiba-chan’s duty, so to speak. (laughs)
Well, we’ll be appearing as well, so all of us, the five of us will combine our powers to get through it.
But well! Of course, there’s still that nervousness, but I think it’ll be like the last festival of the year and we’ll all get through it!
