This just in: My Ice Melts Between Us zine arrived!
(cries in broken Russian)
Even though I’m already familiar with most of the cultural ‘phenomenons’ and quirks showcased (since I lived them myself lol), this zine was a project I’ve been really looking forward to.
Personal highlights:
“Хуярь, Витя! Хуярь!”
Yakov killing it on the accordion
the rooster lollipop
“Лайф & Лов” (I’m crying, that’s so cute)
hell yeah, carpets
Dima Bilan??? LMAO
Anyway, I wanna thank everyone contributing to @yoirussianzine, it’s wonderful and I’ve been smiling all they way through.
(By the way, if anyone wants to get a taste of both Dima Bilan and the full Russian Wedding Experience™, check out this music video because Russian weddings really are A LOT.)
@yoirussianzine This is such an awesome zine. I love all the culture, it’s awesome learning new things. And so awesome that it is in Russian and English. Just thank you to the entire team and all involved.
Thank you @yoirussianzine ! Package arrived to Japan yesterday and what an amazing set. Definitely worth the long wait, I love all the translations, art, and extra info about Russia. ❤️💙
So, I finally got my Golden Bundle of the Ice Melts Between Us ZINE two days ago!
And Oh. My. God.
I couldn’t even imagine it’s gonna be so freaking awesome! I just can’t stop looking at it! The design is beautiful, the quality is supreme, and the arts! Oh, the arts!
And don’t even get me started on the Russia and other post-Soviet countries representation. It’s so… on point. Top quality content!
I wanna say thank you to all the contributors, because you guys are working miracles.

Hi there, are there any news about the planned shipping?^^
Hello, Veskara and our other dear customers!
We are truly and deeply sorry to be so slow in production, and thankful with your patience! We have some troubles with the printing centers in St. Petersburg, so we will call another one in Moscow next Monday, July 30th. Actually, we plan to start shipping in the middle of August.
Mod Mche is here to say we're still alive and the project is living. And we owe you an explanation, how is the production going. Rather I, as the main mod, owe you it.
To sum up, everything is still in the process, we're just incredibly slow and I was afraid to let our audience know that we need more time for production.
Now let's get into detail.
We have gotten some messages of concern and even anger, which were wholly legitimate, on the matter of the zine lacking of any updates, despite us promising to let you know if something goes wrong again. We didn't do that, which, of course, left you concerned and suspicious of our actions. I personally and on behalf of the whole team apologize for that, because I was afraid of your reaction if we asked for more time. I thought that would be better if we finish it without letting anyone know.
It was very unprofessional and immature of me. We REALLY overestimated our abilities as a team and me, as the main organizer, did too. I take part in almost every aspect of the project: social media, talking to the participants, informational texts proofreading, translating of said texts into English, layout planning and providing the materials (like storyboards) for it. The only thing that I do not take part at is the merch and zine printing, but I can't physically do that, because I don't live in St. Petersburg, the city we will ship the zines from. I have taken a lot of duties because I didn't wanted to put a strain on my co-mods and I sincerely belived it will be easier to do all of that by myself. In the end, i was wrong and got overwhelmed and exhausted to keep a track of social media and etc. I had no strength for neither motivate my co-mods to work faster nor being more firm to them. Which is a HUGE mistake as a main organizer.
For all of that I'm asking for your forgiveness. My own shortcomings aren't an excuse for my lack of action. From on now, I will try to control things better.
So how's the zine, you ask?
Actually the zine is alright: we printed all the merch (stickers included), the layout is in process of being done. Also we're done with informational text in Russian and the English translation of it only needs minor adjustments.
"The texts and the translations again?"
Yeah, them again. We explained in our previous update, why it takes so much time to write the texts. In the process of additional proofreading we realized we need an actual native English speaker, not the Russian speaking person who is good at English. We wanted to make everything as good as possible, especially the translations for our educational texts, which meant it would need more work. That's why I asked my good friend Gab ( @gabapple ), who kindly agreed to proofread all 4k of the text we translated on our own. There was a quite big amount of work, but I can reassure you, 98% of the work is done and we just need to take care of some details.
"So, and you expect us to believe you?"
We understand that there is a possibility of your trust being damaged due our lack of updates. So to speak, we acknowledge we really seemed fishy. But I assure you we will finisg the zine and ship all the bundles to all custormers, participants and the giveaway winners.
For now, we plan to finish the layout till the end of June (30.06) and print the zines and ship them in the first part of July (15.07). Right when we ship some part of the zines we will open sales of PDF copies. We will keep you updated.
REGARDING THE TUMBLR MESSAGES: We actually haven't gotten any notifications (even via email) for so many asks, which may be caused for our such long absence on the platform. We saw all the messages now, and I guess I covered almost all of them above, but there is one that needed to be addressed on its own:
We expect for some leftover copies, so when we ship everything, we will let you know!
Me and our team is truly sorry for what happened. Thank you for reading and for still being so patient with us.
Long time no see! We're still alive and we want to show some of the merch from Golden Bundle of our zine: postcards by @mashaalapsha, @aivelin, @nae812, @liebling--sama and acrylic pins design of which is by @mashaalapsha!
ATTENTION! IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE ZINE PRODUCTION BELOW
We would like to apologize for not updating and showing any signs of life for more than a month and a half. We clearly overestimated our abilities and couldn't finish zine production to the mid March as we planned before.
From February until today all mods have been really busy with school and work, also our head mod @ladyegcakeart and editor @bezavady got sick multiply times, which affected the process of the production quite a lot as well.
Right not we're trying our best to speed up the pace of production, but the main reason we're so held up is the informational text, which will accompany all illustrations in the zine. The writing process goes in four stages: draft writing, editing, translating into English and translation editing. Since there is four different people assigned for every stage we aren't always able to synchronize our working schedules with each other very well.
For now we have:
ALL pins and postcard printed
55% of the original text written in Russian
40% of all estimated text translated into English
20% of all estimated translation edited
We aim to finish the layout to mid May and start shipping physical bundles by the end of May, BUT this time we will let you know beforehand if we will need to push the shipping dates further again. We will try to be as transparent as possible from now on.
We sincerely apologize for our unprofessionalism and for holding up the production of the zine. We try to learn from our mistakes and we ask you to be more patient with us.
Thank you so much for your patience and support so far!
