So my friend, @simplepunnyartist, had the idea to create support tags in the wake of all the hate crimes that have already spiked since Donald Trump’s rise into the political spotlight. The idea is to choose your flag (bi, pan, trans, gay, ally, etc) and turn it into a symbol you can wear to let people know that you are a safe zone. If they’re feeling threatened, scared, alone, or just need someone to talk to, you are here to protect and support them. If you are able to participate in this movement, I highly encourage it, especially if you have the safety of white privilege within which to operate. Many people, especially minorities, may not be in a position where it is safe for them to join the movement, so it’s up to everyone who can to create as big of a support system as possible. This is a small thing that has the power to make a difference, so please, take a stand, and spread the message do that as many people as possible can adopt this and help build a safe environment for everyone.
