#I remember reading something a long time ago comparing these gifs#Steve goes in for the hug in both#but when they’re at the ranch and Danny’s trying to comfort Steve. Steve keeps it short#He doesn’t want to burden Danny any more with worrying about him#But when Danny needs the comfort the hug is longer. It’s not as stiff.#On the ranch Steve closed off is heart and let it be behind the wall as he let his mind take over as well as old SEAL instincts#When Grace got hurt he couldn’t ignore his damn heart and let himself be emotional while still being Danny’s rock#Steve feeling safe enough in his place with Danny and Grace(even Rachel) to not be scared to close off and show how worried he is speaks#volumes to me#And I love it and them so much <3 via https://space-ace-ravenclaw-demigod.tumblr.com/

or the hug was so awkward because Alex had no time to grow a beard, so this monster in his face was fake and he feared he would harm it if he goes into a full blown buddy-hug / there’s not always a character related reason. It can also be a crappy costume issue… just saying. But the explanation is cute!
