Been thinking about Shigezane's recent event story again and one of the things I wish we got just a little more of in the Date cousins' routes is some relationship between the guys and the MC's mother. One cousin is entirely motherless, the other effectively so.

There's a huge class and geographical gap, sure. But I love how warm the MC's mother is. I've always been inordinately fond of her considering how small her role in the game is. It would be nice for them to have even a marginal maternal presence in their lives.

The very wealthy, very powerful Date boys being so worried about making a good impression on the MC's mother -- who is neither of these things -- will always be one of my favorite plot points.

It says a lot about both of them that they turned out with a sense of humility despite being scions of a what often seems to be a very insular and status-conscious clan even by samurai standards.

Every now and then I get to thinking about the possible (probable?) imbalance in formal education between the Radiance MC and virtually any of her suitors and just how intimidating that might feel.

The fact that my enthusiasm for disease detective narratives has survived Covid feels like a minor miracle.

In all seriousness, the story where Mitsuhide goes looking for the origins of an epidemic is one of my favorite events this game has run in the ~3 years I've been playing it. We're not likely to get any kind thriller-grade resolution to this -- this isn't that kind of game -- but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about the ride.
