And I am not stupid enough to believe that women of other races whose skin happens to have a smidgeon of coloring…feel some kind of solidarity with me. They do not. No one on this earth has been more betrayed than black women have, and so called “women of color” don’t give a shit about me. Do not call me a “woman of color”…I am a “Black” woman.

That’s how I felt about the term WoC too, but I use it when wanting to mean non-white women generally. But yeah, I’ve experienced racism from non-black WoC as well as white women. Blackness is at the bottom of the hierarchy.

I mean there are definitely exceptions to this, but I’m generally very careful about the term WoC/PoC—or rather, careful about how attached I become to those who fall under this umbrella—because I’ve been hurt by non-Black PoC/WoC too many times to count. Rap artist, activist and author Sister Souljah addressing the controversy that arose after remarks she made following the 1992 LA Riots.
