maybe this is not my place to say because I am monolingual, and I'm sure it's part of a larger, more nuanced discussion about visibility and accessibility on the internet, but I think it'd be cool if people posted in their native languages more instead of in english. I see people do it way more on other platforms than on tumblr which is almost exclusively in english
El problema es, como bien has dicho, la accesibilidad y la visibilidad.
Tumblr en concreto es muy anglocentrista y un gran número de los usuarios no habla más que inglés. Si quieres que tus cosas lleguen a gente con gustos u opiniones similares, escribirlo en inglés asegura que la gente por lo menos lo pueda leer. Suma a esto el hecho de que bastantes series y tal son originalmente de habla inglesa (y a veces ni se traducen a tu lengua madre), lo que crea un fandom principalmente angloparlante.
Más allá de eso, también hay que tener en cuenta las diferencias culturales que surgen entre fandoms de distintos idiomas. Por ejemplo, durante mucho tiempo el fandom de Vocaloid angloparlante y el hispanohablante han chocado con respecto a temas como la piratería. En ocasiones es complicado manejar estas expectativas, y si sabes varios idiomas, peor incluso.
A mí me gustaría subir cositas en español y encontrar a gente que comparta mis gustos, pero en Tumblr en concreto es casi imposible. Tumblr ya es de por sí mucho más «nicho» en espacios hispanohablantes que otras RRSS como TikTok o Instagram, y si tus intereses no son muy populares, despídete.
La lingüística de los espacios de fans también está hipercentrada en el inglés. No es una pareja, es un ship; no es un universo alternativo, es un AU; no es destripar, es hacer spoiler, etc. Incluso las siglas: en español es LGTB, pero lo que sueles ver es LGBT. Parece una tontería, pero esta disonancia cognitiva hace que resulte muchísimo más complicado hablar en tu propio idioma en un fandom. Por no hablar de las innumerables referencias a posts o a memes... en inglés todo, por supuesto. Como te atrevas a hacer cualquier referencia cultural no inglesa, no te entiende nadie. Pierde la gracia.
Casi todo esto se puede achacar al imperialismo cultural estadounidense. El inglés es útil para comunicarse con gente de todo el mundo, pero su omnipresencia sirve de barrera para todos los demás idiomas. Quizás habría que reflexionar un poco sobre por qué coño el resto del mundo tiene que tragarse años de clases de inglés para hablar del juego que le gusta en una red social mientras muchos angloparlantes no se dignan ni a meter un texto en un traductor automático y prefieren pasar de largo.

i think people get so used to their own creative work that they forget how amazing it is so i’m making this post as a reminder You are the only person capable of making art the exact way you make it. nobody else on earth can do that. there are always going to be those little habits and intricacies and details that simply cannot be replicated whether it’s in writing or painting or textiles and you make life all the better for it i love my friends’ art i love art from strangers im trying to love my own art I LOVE YOU!!! Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! I've got one of those, and it's a funky yellow alien guy I made in a video game once a long time ago. But now? If you asked me my ideal form now, I would probably answer with my alien guy. Not much of a character behind him really, I think that's what gives the pull to him.

I think my 'soul bearing' OC that started out very much unlike me has to be Jelly.
He started out as this quiet, reserved jester that spoke next to no words, only out of necessity, and was implied straight? And also had a thing with his queen. Very complex.
Nowadays he still has a thing with his queen, but to a less committed degree. He also pretty quickly became a trans man, but being that the setting is basically Dark Ages France, I found what was basically the One Historical Example of a person afab being blessed by a church to live as a man so long as they Never Ever Never went back to being a woman.
Which, to this guy, was a completely fine arrangement. However, from there his story became 'what does it mean to be a man?' and 'how does that fit into my sense of morality?'
He's in the Darkest Dungeon universe, which is basically a game about how a french hamlet goes to shit after an Ancestor of the player does various eldritch sins in Every Sector of the hamlet. The player basically orders mercenaries around to do murder and cleansing of areas en masse.
The thing is, Jelly grew up in a war zone, so he's basically had the sentiment of "no one has a right to kill" in his mind since his formative years, a sentiment I personally believe in. So when he's put into this situation, paired with his canon christian-esque religion, he constantly questions his beliefs and what he believes is the correct and just thing to do, all the while trying to Stealth in medieval France.
He's a reflection of myself in the sense that he has to come to terms with that he isn't and can never be a perfect man and the urge to perform to that standard is ultimately self-destructive, whether it's in the "perfect morally" or "perfect gender-presentation-ly" way, because both things are incredibly subjective. There's themes of worthiness and strength in his story, exacerbated by his already small stature. In the world that he's in, how does he fill his slot?
I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the guy who literally showed me I was aromantic.
I'm ass bootie cheeks at introspection, and I usually don't figure things out about myself until they're reflected back at me somehow. When I made this guy in 2024, I had NO idea I was aromantic. I even had a boyfriend.
I basically made a middle-aged man who got divorced because he was not loving enough to his wife, because he couldn't stand 'loving' actions in practice. He's a committed family man who was told from the moment he would listen that his goals in life were to go to school, get a good job, find a girl, settle down and have kids, and then live out the rest of your life with her until you die. So, when the 'wife and kids' bit falls out from under him, with no idea as to why (because he's a middle aged man with no concept of aromanticism and actually had his older brother taken away for his brother being queer), what does he do!!!
He joins group therapy. That's what he does...
But I was doing all this research into what being aromantic was like, how it felt, how it Didn't feel, how to write it, what songs and characters encompassed it, that I completely overlooked the ME being YELLED RIGHT BACK AT ME through a MEGAPHONE!!!
It wasn't until a year through my relationship that I realized any of it. I even had a year relationship before That!! 💀 But the second one I had ended on very good terms and we're still good friends :)
But yeah. The aromantic bit was supposed to be a 'polar opposite of me' type of situation, and he literally ended up mirroring my real life experiences almost beat-for-beat. I never had kids. But yknow.
I swear to god, I even wrote an entire backstory for him in (rough) vignette form for a creative writing project, and by the time I finished that I STILL DIDN'T FIGURE IT OUT!!! The answer was right under my nose that whole time.
