Part 1
โOh my godโฆโ Kelsey gasps.
Lunas head shoots up, with both anticipation and excitement, โHave your Wrackspurts been bothering you, or is it something else?โ
Kelsey turns her attention to Luna from her phone, โYou know how Iโve been like, the schools prankster this year?โ
โI was aware of that alreadyโ, Luna nods.
โAnd you know how I have been talking to that Cedric guy about pranks?โ
Luna, now a little curious, โI have noticed thatโฆโ her voice trails off
โAnd youโve probably seen by now that thereโs a rumored lost ghost in the west corridor that moans like itโs in pain at nightโฆโ Kelsey leading with her eyes for Luna to finish the sentence.
โOh yes, Iโve heard of the lost ghostโ Luna exclaims.
Kelsey rolls her eyes, it becomes flushed again after looking at her phone. She meets Lunaโs curious gaze โWell, Cedric has asked me to meet him in the west corridor at midnightโฆtonight, to try and catch the ghost!โ
Lunaโs eyes widened in happiness for her friend, โI think itโs a good youโre going. New experiences are important! I can tell youโre excited, even though youโre pretending not to be.โ
Kelseyโs breath hitches for a second, contemplating if this meet up has any ulterior motives. โI mean, I have barely spoken to the guy. Yeah, sure, heโs the schools heartthrob that literally survived an encounter with - well, you know who. So Iโm sure itโs nothing more than two mischievous peers getting together to squash this rumor! Right..?โ Kelsey stares at Luna for reassurance.
Luna sits next to Kelsey in the bed, holds her hands in her lap, and heartwarmingly says, โHowever it goes, itโll will still be worth having tried. Youโre always allowed to bring an escape plan. I do - itโs comforting.โ
Kelsey and Luna smile at one another and burst into laughter as they speculate on the presumed date with Cedric Diggory. Kelsey then shows Luna the direct-messages between her and Cedric, further confirming to herself that she is going to be hanging out with Cedric, after curfew, tonight.
โI need to get ready!โ Kelsey gets ready in a feverish fashion, and Luna observes and provides her insight on the outfit choices. Kelsey settles on a pair of dark blue mid rise barrel jeans, a white chunky knit sweater that is tucked slightly in the front, and her favorite shoe combination - white ankle socks and Birkenstock clogs. Kelsey leaves her dirty dishwater blonde hair down, lightly curled from the morning. She does very minimal makeup - eyebrows filled in, a pink toned lip butter that smells like birthday cake, tinted moisturizer, mascara, and a floral scented perfume.
โHow do I look?โ Kelsey directs her question at Luna, twirling ever so slightly.
โHmm..โ Luna taps her finger on her pursed lips, โI keep thinking itโs missing a little sparkle - nothing loud, just thoughtfulโ. She rummages through Kelseyโs necklaces and pulls out a dainty gold chain with 2 pendants, one star and one moon, connected together by chain. โJewelry can be a quiet sort of armor.โ Lina states as she hands Kelsey the dainty necklace.
Kelsey smiles at Luna and graciously takes the necklace. โThank you Luna.โ She looks down at her watch and realizes she has 30 minutes before midnight. A rush of nerves surges through her body. โOh my okay, this is really happening. Do you promise to watch my movements on the Marauders map?โ
โIโll watch your little dot while youโre gone, just to make sure itโs behaving.โ Luna winks at Kelsey as they walk out the door, arm and arm. Kelsey looks down the hall, where Cedricโs room is, to see if he was leaving at the same time. Sighing in relief that his door was closed, Kelsey and Luna leave the Hufflepuff common room.
Kelsey and Luna continue like that until they reach the Ravenclaw common room. Luna wishes her friend good luck, kisses her forehead, and teasingly points to the map as Kelsey strides off to her meet up with THE Cedric Diggory.
As Kelsey begins her walk to the west corridor, her mind is flooded with insecure thoughts. โWhat if I trip and fall, will he laugh at me or will he help me up and pretend it didnโt happen? What does he even know about me? I wonder if we have any classes togetherโฆโ
And then suddenly, Kelsey stops in her tracks. Her attention now focused on Cedric waiting for her at the end of the corridor. His back is against the wall, leaning slightly with legs outs stretch for support. His gaze is down at his feet, and his hands are clasped in front of him, waist level. He twirls his thumbs. He is stood right under the wall sconce, and it provides the most perfect and natural lighting, excentuating his confident stance, And then he looks up and meets her gaze.
The look Cedric shoots Kelsey sends shivers down her spine. โOh my god what is going on with me? Iโve never had a crush on him before, why am I feeling this way?โ
A warm but mischievous smile spreads across his face as he turns his body towards her. Kelsey observes his outfit of choice - only ever seeing him in his quidditch uniform or in his robes. He is wearing black jeans, cuffed once at his ankles, a green sweater with a black line sticking through the chest, paired with brown tennis shoes. His hair was as wispy as ever.
โWell hello there, Kelsey.โ Cedric greets Kelsey with his warm and velvety voice, walking slightly towards her with his hands in his pockets. โAre you ready to find the source of this rumor?โ
He smiles at her again, and it makes Kelsey melt.
Kelsey thinks to herself, โOh Iโm in trouble.โ
