I feel like I'm falling apart and I'm tired of pretending that I'm okay...
Hi. I'm a thirteen year old Irish dancer from Pittsburgh. Recently, my mom has been having health issues and unfortunately I will not be able to continue dance. It has made me super depressed (I already have depression and take medication for it), and I don't know what to do. I guess I'm just asking for advice on how to recover after unexpectedly having to quit dance. Thanks!
Hi there I'm so sorry to hear about your mom that's awful... but no matter what you are doing in life, Irish dance will always be with you - you don't need to be in a studio every day to do something you love. You can dance anywhere, even if it's just in your living room at home. Don't look at this as quitting, look at it as spending time with your mom. Right now she needs you. And who knows, you may find your way back. But if you need someone to talk to, I am always here to help. Please reach out to me anytime you feel like you need to talk.
Leaving a major venue for the first time in days
Raise your hand if youâre having/just had your pre-Worlds breakdown
Every major, itâs the same story. Training is going great, then 1-2 weeks before the competition, I have a totally awful night of dancing, and I leave class sobbing because Iâm terrified that I canât do this and Iâm a horrible dancer and how could I ever achieve the goals Iâm dreaming of? Even though I know these thoughts are all irrational, I need a purge to get them all out, and then I know Iâm ready to go. Fun fact: mine happened tonight.Â
Does anyone else get this too?
100%. I like to turn it around and celebrate it. We all know itâs coming so itâs like âwoo!! Itâs over! I can move on!â And it feels good :)
You got this girl!! â€ïž
Literally been happening once a week for the past month - I have a great practice and then the next one is terrible.
I hope you keep pushing. I know itâs hard and that there are a million things going on around you but stay focused. Stay passionate about where youâre headed, even if you donât know exactly where that is yet. At least youâre moving. Sometimes, you find where youâre supposed to be by simply choosing a direction and taking a step. Be good to the people along the way. Keep true to what you love and the kind of life you want to live. Keep pushing, you could be almost there and not even know it.

AMAZING
Iâve probably watched this video at least 200 times
throwback to when I had to do my set after her at the 2014 Worlds the year she won. Was too busy watching her flawless set to think about my ownđđ

itâs so nice to see an action shot of a lift kick like this in which the dancer actually has good form. praise
concept: I am dancing. My feet are turned out perfectly and my arms do not move. I finish the dance. I do not feel like my lungs are exploding.Â

funny thing is this isnât really a new style - a girl in my school had a dress in 2004/2005 that was black in the front and white in the back lol love seeing old styles come back around
