as yesterday was father's day where I live, I would like to take a moment to say how much I hate ludvig. A friend of mine described him as the physical incarnation of "are you winning, son" but I don't think he even deserves that. An are you winning son requires he remembers he has a kid long enough to pause what he's doing, go to his bedroom and ask him a question. I'm not certain ludvigs even capable of that, as I'm pretty sure wille ceases to exist in his mind when he's not in front of him.

I like to go to the Young Royals tag to see posts that are related to the show. It bugs me when it's filled with Edvin/Omar stuff that has nothing to do with Young Royals. // Not the tag police LMAO. Look, I get that it's annoying to see "irrelevant" stuff while searching the tag(s), it annoys me too, almost the same way as multiple people posting the same stuff around the same time and flooding the tags but for some people it's the only way to reach an audience in already dying or inactive fandom spaces, it is what it is. And the block button exists! Just saying...

Gift Exchange - Check In and Sprints

Hello gift exchangers! We've got a couple of updates for you.

Check In - 20-21 June

It's check in time! If you're taking part in the YR Gift Exchange 2026, you need to check in and let us know if you're still on track to finish your gift or not.

To check in, simply reply briefly to this post saying if you're still in. If you want to send us a more detailed message, have any questions about your assignment, or have any doubts whether you'll meet the deadline of 25 July, please feel free to drop us an email at youngroyalsevents [at] gmail [dot] com or message @oneofthosebells here on Tumblr.

Please check in by the end of the weekend, 21 June. Anyone we don't hear from, we'll try and track you down by email or DM.

Sprints

Following a request, we'll be running some creative sprints on Discord! If you're not familiar with sprints, they're timed bursts of activity where you work non-stop on your project without pausing to edit or overthink, then you post your progress made in the group. They can be a great tool to silence your inner critic and be creative in a community.

To join, simply join this Discord server, introduce yourself, and let us know what days/times might be good for you (including your timezone). This is a small, informal server simply for running creative sprints, not a general YR server. We'll try to run sprints to suit different timezones at least a couple of times a week until the end of July.

i love how he had what would have been the worst day of his life 6 times in one year

i love how his hyperspecific circumstance has him so mixed up as to right and wrong, to the extent that he views accepting privilige as the responsible riteous path and rejecting it as selfsish

i love how you can tell when the words he is speaking are not his own, when he is repeating "privilige not punishment" and "people will take advantage" and "keep private things private"

Ive said before that he would really enjoy writing shitty poetry that progressses into not so-shitty half decent poetry

and he'd enjoy buying hand made felted hats with frogs and different fruits on them

In regards to the Swedish royal court: I tend to see the yr version of the court as separate from the irl version, so I'm going more by how they are portrayed in the show. Though I do believe their biggest gripe with Simon is his class and the fact that he's been part of the sex tape, which they want Wilhelm to be distanced from. JO does ask August specifically about being straight and, in my experience, one type of prejudice often comes in pairs with others, ie they are more conservative and WOULD probably prefer someone who fits into their beliefs. Felice, who comes from a well respected upper class family and has always moved in their circle would still be seen as a MUCH better fit than the anti monarchist, poor guy from "bad" circumstances who's been in both a viral sex tape and also was confirmed to have stolen and dealt drugs. Many layers that intersect with one another! Also. Sweden unfortunately is also getting more conservative currently (as many countries are)... :/

(also I believe if Felice was with Wille, she'd be expected to straighten her hair for royal functions- or at least made to feel bad for not conforming)

I'm not sure that people know this. But the current Swedish queen is from Brazil, even if she has German heritage. And she isn't highborn. Neither is the current prince consort Daniel.
