Motherhood is a wild ride.
I need a space to vent and I forgot About this place. My one safe space. No one knows me and this canāt be traced to me.
Iām fed up. Night after night, day after day I AM the one waking up, rocking bubs back to sleep. I am the one with no sleep, and yet doing all the chores. Even with OH home, heās donāt nothing. No helping with baby, or chores, not even noticing when we are awake.
This week we started Solid and her sleeping in her bed. This is a packed week for her and Iām getting no support. Iām torn between throwing in the towel on her sleeping alone and powering through, but Iām so tired. I nearly passed out on her bedroom floor, itās looking comfortable by the minute!
Long story short, Iām feeling alone, tired and all together fed up. If you see this post please send me some support, I need someone to show their support for me.
No one warns you how lonely motherhood is.
People are always around during pregnancy, but once I hit Maternity leave, Iāve been the loneliest Iāve ever been - having frequent nightmares caused by anxiety and no one to talk to this about.
No close friends who visit on their days off, no family who understand where Iām coming from.
I find it tough to make mom friends too, and most groups are fully established or Iām usually younger than them, and I find people arenāt too sure on how to talk to me, thinking Iām a child myself.
Motherhood is so rewarding, and oh so lonely.
Itās super tough.
Everything is tough, but I find being in public unusually tough.
Iāve always been an anxious person, however since having my beautiful baby girl, I find myself having less anxiety at some times, or just as much as before during other times.
Since joining into some baby groups (one for under 25 mums, the other a general baby development one) Iāve been forced out of my comfort zone weekly, and come to notice older parents just arenāt sure how to talk to me.
Itās always awkward meeting new people, however when these new people are significantly younger than you, itās bound to be awkward.
As I sit here with Baby asleep on my chest, I realise just how tough it is to be a parent. Itās also super lonely.
A letter to that lady on the bus:
I saw you. Staring. Wondering. And honestly, youāre lucky I didnāt call you out for not only looking and huffing at me, but also the other mum beside me.
I did not know this other mum, but why you felt the need to look at us both, and make disapproving noises is beyond me.
Many people brand young adults with children as Slags, sluts or Whores (the list goes on) and often assume a broken home and relationship for the childās parents.
This is not always the case, and just as with any other parent - you should never judge them - and if you catch yourself staring, shoot them a smile!
To end this, Iād like to give a big thank you to some kind people today;
1) the lady who called me a beautiful mother and wished me a good day
2) the mums and both parenting groups I go to - Iām horrendously awkward but I enjoy everyoneās company and I really hope you donāt all dislike me!
3) my close friend who always supports me even though we live in different towns - youāre a star!
If thereās anything to take away from this weird first post - smile more at any and all parents, they are all trying!
