Q: WHAT COLOUR CHARACTER ARE YOU?
A: RED.
Red characters tend to be both quiet and observant as well as loud and dramatic. They are often brash and impulsive, and tend to act on instinct rather than planning ahead. They are quite self-sacrificing, often veering into self-destructive, and they push themselves to their limits trying to succeed. They tend to be stubborn, and it might take a lot to change their mind. They have a hard time expressing their feelings, and may come off as either emotionless, self-absorbed, or perpetually angry. They don’t have a ton of friends, and when they do, it’s often by circumstance rather than choice (although they grow to fiercely love their friends). They are not usually innately good at fitting into social situations, and can be awkward and out of place in them. They can come off as unhumorous because of how sincere and honest they tend to be, but tend to just have a dryer, sarcastic sense of humor. They do often think of others first, but their motivations for it might not be entirely selfless. They usually have a hard time conceivably lying, and are quite earnest without meaning to be. They put their full effort into what they do, and push themselves to improve at all costs. They get easily defensive, and feel like they have to prove themselves to earn anyone’s respect. They have a strong sense of internal morality and high standards for themselves. They also hold others to their internal high standards, which can cause a lot of conflict if not worked out. They tend to have bad relationships with their parental figures, who were usually either absent or abusive, and contributed to their toxic view of themselves. At their core, red characters want to be loved and accepted, but have often been denied it, leading them to build up lots of defenses. Others need to be patient with them and give them a safe space to be themselves as they open up and begin to flourish.
just a girl in a man’s world
something something abigail wanting john to stop being an outlaw and be a family man — how it’s what molly also wanted with dutch. and how, in the end — john and abigail were able to live the lifestyle that neither molly or arthur got to
'Loyal?! I'm too damn loyal, loyal like a God forsaken dog. That's what got me in this mess!'
loyalty, loyalty, loyalty – what was it good for? it should've been everything to the one who continuously preached about, who crucified others for being led astray – yet here they all were, falling apart at the seems with nowhere to go. “ first time i met our dutch he went on about loyalty. about how nothin' else could compare – nothin' else would matter to him. ” she ought to have known right then and there that wouldn't be the case forever. “ you've known him much longer than i have, hosea. you've always been right behind him. it's different now, isn't it? that ain't the same dutch either of us know. ”
i do think sean reminded molly of her brother.
which is why she's consistently annoyed with him and prefers to not acknowledge his existence. they're the only two irish people in the gang so you'd assume they'd get on or at least confide in one another – but he reminds her too much of her brother, and then she's forced to reminisce on the family she left behind and no longer associates herself with.
❛ an' this lot, this life, that's chose you... it feel like home to you? ❜ curious eyes scrutinise her. she takes a long, thoughtful drag of a cigarette before holding it out to her. offering a change of pace or subject. something. she's heard all about miss molly o'shea, of course. how she's fool for dutch. how she's one silly damn fool of a girl who's only fooling herself. how she's about as much use as tits on a fish. that that nose of hers is so high in the air, she'd drown in the rain. or, that she might be pretty as a peach, but half as smart as one. but, she's ever been one to take folks' word as gospel. not unless she has reason to. to her, she's always just seemed a little lost. a little ghost-like. a stranger in this home which has chosen her, haunting and seeking something she can't reach or have. a little something like her.
she's never been one to back down from another's gaze, holding it until the others hand is outstretched, causing her sight to drop down past the mustard shirt and to the calloused hand offering a cigarette. she doesn't need to think about it, not when her stomach was already in knots at the other woman's words. plucking it from her grasp, molly inhales, though slowly before she's letting out a cloud of smoke before her and handing it back to the woman.
“ it has to. or else–well, i ain't got much else.” or this would all be for nothing. leaving behind dublin; her family. all for... this. swallowing the lump that forms, turning her head and sight away from the other. she wants to say, home is wherever dutch is. but how cliche would it sound? how romantic had that once been? it should bring a glint to her eye, a smile to her face. but it does little to disturb the crease between her brows or the pounding beneath skin and bone. she can't admit how far from home she feels inside this camp, surrounded by dutch's people. she ought to have known she'd never belong; that love was never going to save her. “ i remember when dutch found you, brought you back... you had to leave your home. why did you stay with us? ”
molly makes a point of calling everyone by their first name. only when she's annoyed does she formally address people and refer to them by their surname. this is due to how important it is for her to be called by her own first name. it makes her feel seen and important, as though she means something to that person. it may not matter to others how they're referred to, but molly is very adamant on wanting to be referred to by her first name throughout the entirety of the game, not miss o'shea, not dutch's girl – not anything but who she actualy is: molly. she corrects anyone that calls her miss o'shea, whether it be dutch, arthur – or someone else from the gang. (mainly because she wouldn't care if a stranger referred to her as molly, so it's only people she's close with or admires that she does refer to them by their first name)
she hates being called miss o'shea – especially by the gang, it makes her feel like a nobody – as though she's easily disposable, why bother learning her name if she isn't going to be around long? (it's what she believes they think about her) she already believes the gang hates her, so whenever she's referred to as such, even when being polite / respectful, it more so confirms to her that she doesn't mean much. she wants to be called molly, nothing else.
the closer i look, the farther away you get. ✉ @wildlcck.
“ now just how much have you had to drink there, sadie? ” she'll laugh, brows pinching together as she shakes it off – the pity that always lingers in the depths of everyone's eyes. molly won't have any of it, she will not be made the fool. (not when she's already been played for one) “ is there something you need? ” it was easy to hide away when nobody cared to look – hidden over a bank, watching the sun set along the horizon as the water begins to sparkle. the night sky all too clear, a scatter of stars decorating the darkness. reminding her how big the world was, one she'd always been so desperate to explore. she ought to have known she couldn't have it all. this had merely been the thanks she'd received for leaving her family behind in search of something better.

“ what do you do with all the things you no longer need to remember? ”
❝ seein' it comin' doesn't stop it from comin' . ❞ ✉ @redemn.
there wasn't much to do when one had to sit idlily, waiting to be needed–wanted. she's watched dutch's state of mind slowly start to decay as the months stretched on, the grounds they lay their heads changing with the seasons. though arthur's words resonate deep, it does little to comfort, instead disturbing the contentment beneath her skin, bones rattling inside as a chill creeps up her spine. the daunting realisation of not knowing whether what she was seeing was a mere figment of her imagination, or reality. “ do you mind if i ask you something, arthur? ” her chest lifts, fingers coming together as a lump builds in her throat. she peers over his shoulder briefly to take a look over the camp before her feet are sinking back. she doesn't wait for the other to answer, already opening her mouth to speak. “ i can't be the only one seeing the change in dutch. i–i'm...i'm real worried about him. ”
it's better to ask questions than to struggle for answers. ✉ @000warning.
“ oh, that's easy for you to say. ” a shake of her head, a scorn etching itself between her brows as arms fold across her chest. shoulders and chest lift before she exhales, letting the surrounding trees bring comfort and tranquility – as much as they could in their predicament. “everything that comes outta your mouth sounds bloody perfect. i open mine, and the looks i get... lord, the nerve of some people, i tell ya'.” eyes widen as if to reenact, before they turn to slits as she shakes her head once more and looks away. molly knows it's because of her accent, the thick irish dripping among the rush of americans. but molly can't help but wonder if there's more to it than that.
💬 @makethiseasy.
“ i like when you're gone. i win all our arguments in my head. ” a pleasant smirk sits on her face, sharp nails tapping against the gun in her holster as she eyes the other before stepping aside to let her into molly's humble abode.
molly and reverend at horseshoe overlook used to always sit with each other on the rocks. molly didn’t mind his company because… reverend was drunk half the time, he thinks he’s going mad and that everyone is laughing at him — which is mostly what molly believes the gang thinks of her. so i find it interesting she doesn’t bother to move away from reverend and actually allows somebody near her. she can confide in him or say something that she knows he’ll forget because he’s not in the right state of mind
every day i think i’m fine about molly’s fate and then i remember they burned her body and didn’t give her a proper burial 🙂
