"Well, most days," Obedience said with a laugh. "At least five days a week, plus Phantom, Dew, and Sunny, plus sometimes Lus…" She hummed. It was a lot, but getting fucked out of her head was the only thing to be done for her anxiety some days. To cover the troubled look that came over her face, she added, "He and I kinda like each other, in case you haven't noticed."

"Nope." Aether said with a sigh, leaning back in his chair. "Not even if you put off being mated until after the tour. Second his heat hits - and it will hit in the Euro leg - he'll be coming home to you even if he has to crawl the bottom of the ocean."

She sighed, twirling her stolen pen around her fingers. "Then the whole Bug situation..." She trailed off. "I love Swiss more than anything, but it seems like the odds are against us."

"Yeah.. I can imagine that was rough on you. I should've checked in with you more, too, when we found out, I'm sorry for that." Aether said with a small frown, though he'd had a lot to deal with at the time - Dew wasn't exactly friendly after his forced element change. "The way you two keep fighting fate to stay together is very.. On brand, I have to admit. Very fitting for you two!"

"You were dealing with Dew and Mac, I get it," Obedience said with a shrug. But then the smile was back. "Because we're both stubborn assholes?" It was absolutely true. Even before she and Swiss had spoken a single word to each other, it had been quite the task to keep them apart. He'd scent-marked her more moments after he'd risen from the Pit.

Her eyes widened a bit, and she asked, her tone light and teasing to show she wasn't bothered, "Were you one of the ones trying to keep us apart when he was a new summon, Aeth?"

"More stubborn than anyone else I know, and that's saying something! You both even beat Rainy, and they're so stubborn that they literally refuse to move until they get what they want. One time, when they had a fight with Dew, they stayed sat under a tree for a whole 17 hours before Mount got fed up and carried them, completely deadweight, to the den!" Aether rambled a little, caught up in the excitement of talking about his pack.

"I was, yes. It was... Tough." He admitted, fiddling with his stubble. "Have you ever tried to pick Swiss up? When he's wriggling and biting, it's a whole lot harder. Mount, Cir, and I had to take turns, and even then there were times we had to grab Alpha or Crust to step in."

"That's what happens when you don't give a princess what they want," Obedience laughed, fully aware of the fact that she had no right to judge. The whole reason she and Rain didn't get a long was because they were too similar, after all. It was the same with Aurora. Princesses couldn't co-exist: One always needed more power than the others.

"I have not," Obedience said, "but I can imagine it wouldn't be a good time." She glanced up. "Why bother, though? He made it pretty clear from the beginning that he didn't wanna hurt me."

"Yes, the Princesses of the Ministry." Aether rolled his eyes playfully, a sweet, fond smile on his face. "Luckily, you all have devoted partners who'd do anything for you."

"You saw him unglamoured, Obedience. You saw how he was - feral and unhinged. Even if he didn't want to hurt you, I'm not sure he could've held himself back." He explained, all too aware of how many times Swiss had later thanked him for it while high. "He'd never been aound humans before - at least, not like that."

Obedience smiled, too. "We're lucky like that," she said.

"I did see," she agreed. Though ghouls were her area of expertise, she knew Aether was right. "Have you ever seen a ghoul act that way right out of the Pit, though? I can't seem to find anything about it ever happening before. Ghouls don't just scent their summoners like that, as far as I can tell."

"No, I can't say I have. Omega wasn't summoned by Terzo, Aero and Crust were mated before coming out of the pit, as were Lus and Cir, and Ifrit came a long while after Alpha. As far as I know, Swiss is the only one to do that. I wonder why.." Aether toyed with his stubble, making a mental note to ask Swiss about it later.

"He mentioned something about smelling me from the Pit," Obedience said, tapping the end of the pen against her knee. It was the green apple, if she remembeed right. "Said he lingered at the portal waiting until we called for a multi, and he clawed his way out to get to me."

"I'm surprised he told you about that." Aether got over the shock her revelation brought him. "I mean, he's not exactly the type to give an actual answer when asked. Remember that one time he and Dew found out how to DIY fireworks, and we had to interrogate both of them for a week before either relented?" He paused for a few moments, then added, "I suppose he has a deeper trust with you than anyone else. It makes sense, given how connected you've both always been, but it's still a nice little surprise to hear about."

"He tells me everything," Obedience said, laughter in her voice, though she was genuinely touched to know that Swiss must trust her so much. "You wouldn't believe how often he wakes me up in the middle of the night to tell me what he was dreaming about." It was usually wet dreams that they immediately reenacted, but she kept that part to herself.

Instead, she asked, "You ever regret that you didn't get with Mac immediately?"

Aether groaned softly, remembering the countless times Swiss used to wake him up on tour. "No offence to Swiss, love the guy, he's my best friend, but I'm so beyond glad that you're the one that has to deal with that now. I like sleeping a full 9 hours each night."

He stopped talking then, thinking over her question for a while. "...No, I don't think I do." He admitted eventually, twisting a few beard hairs between his fingers. "I think, for me and Macabre, it was the path we were always destined to take, in a way."

"Fair!" Obedience laughed. "I'm mostly used to it by now, as long as I get to sleep in on the weekends." Swiss had a way of telling when we was in need of sleep, too, though whether they was because of her attitude or because of how awful she looked when she was sleep-deprived, she couldn't say.

Aether's answer surprised her a little. "Why do you say that?" she asked. She said it as if she and Swiss had gotten together immediately, as if there hadn't been years before they'd officially become a couple. They weren't even mated yet. She suddenly felt terribly inadequate.

"Do you? Get to sleep in, I mean. With Swiss and Bug, you've got some hyperactive, unable to sit still, completely head over heels for you ghouls desperate to be near you any second they can." Aether pointed out, frowning a little.

"I.. Don't know. It just- It feels like Macabre and I were always fated to be together, but we had to go through everything else first. Not to prepare, because I like to think I'm a lot better than her past, but to show us that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. She was my light, as I hope I'm hers." He tried to explain, though some words were difficult to find.

"I do!" Obedience said, laughing through the words. "They like each other, so they're fine with just playing with each other if they know I'm worn out." She was fairly certain Phantom was developing feelings for Swiss, actually, but he kept that to herself. Aether probably knew that already, anyway.

She smiled as he spoke, murmuring, "Holy fuck, that is beyond romantic."

"Yes, I know," Aether chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "I hear everything from both of them afterwards - I'm pretty sure that, at least once, Swiss was laying on top of me, telling me about it, as Phantom texted me about it at the same time. It's nice knowing the Bug's settled in a bit more, since, uh, Dew wasn't exactly nice to the poor guy originally."

"I'm glad you think so! Are you going to go tell Macabre everything I've said? How I just couldn't stop rambling about her?" He wasn't sure if the two were the kind of friends to do that, so his words were mostly a playful tease than a genuine question.

"I kinda get it, honestly," Obedience said, though it annoyed her a bit. "You and Dew were summoned together. I can imagine how hard it was for him to see you get replaced, especially mid-tour like that." It hadn't been Phantom's fault, though, and he hadn't deserved to be ostracized like that.

With a smile, Obedience said, "I might. Bet she'd love to hear it!"
