Donāt Tell (short Aki rant)
Long time no post. Been a while since I played actually, since things got so busy with Anime Expo. I actually had to pass by the Voltage booth every time I wanted to go to mine in the dealerās hall XDa...
Semi-review but more like short rant: I finally got around to playing Donāt Tell Him Iām Popular, Tsumuguās version (in both languages). It wasnāt as bad as I was expecting it to be (but it also wasnāt that great either for a Tsumugu story since it was a little ooc on everyoneās part), but wow, I have never been so angry at Akiyoshi. ---hint: donāt read this if youāre super Aki defensive---
Heās a two bit hypocrite in this story. If you look past the surface of him acting like he cares, he was actually not only extremely opinionated and shallowly judgmental, there were so many comments from him that made me just want to punch his lights out. First of all youāre a journalist, is it really okay for you to be making judgement calls on things you donāt even bother to look into...second if you really /looked/ at her, youād know she was overall very happy and that things were progressing at their own pace, not yours. When you care about people these are things youād naturally pay attention to.
I just...(=___=) took this worse than I should have for two reasons. 1.) reading behaviour is my job; on the surface everyone in Shiki seems nice...but when you look at their overall behaviour it sets off a ton of unhealthy alarms. 2.) I know a lot of people in Tsumugu and MCās situation. When youāve experienced things like this, you know how hard it is for people in the circumstance. People on the side line who make judgement calls like this and not really putting in any effort into being understanding or thinking more objectively about the matter, whether closely or distantly have no rights putting their mouth where it donāt belong. All you do is hurt the people you supposedly care about.
I mean, if Aki was deeply interested into the MC throughout the beginning I would understand (keep in mind I treat all routes as separate universes, and read everyoneās equally), but this overly invasive interest and concern just came out of nowhere, even if he likes her. Objectively, all that happened was Aki forced a progression on the couple over something that wouldāve happened naturally anyway given time and at the end of the arc he's like, āitās cool, you donāt have to tell your coworkers all about yourselvesā..._(:3 7 except what you want to know, huh Aki...
Overall this route just reminded me how dysfunctional and dissonant the members are with each other compared to other groups because no one really knows a thing about each other. I can totally see now why Tsumugu wants to be distant from his coworkers.
_(:3 7 I feel ya Tsum, I wouldnāt want friends like these either. Aki called you out for being a half-assed boyfriend but Iām going to call him out for being a half-assed friend.
