Self Portrait silkscreen print 11x9 (image only) on water color paper This is my very first silkscreening project. Under the tutelage of mr. Gregory alan Johnson at SOUTHWEST of ART. I am so fortunate for my first exposure to silkscreen printing from him. I am so grateful to him. He helped me so much with my limited strength, and figured out the ways I could handle. He is a master and might be his last class before his retirement. I realized that silkscreen printing process is taking much, much more than imagined: endurance, patience, modesty, inquisitive exploration, challenging…..complex …physical strength…analytical mind… But the possibility is endless…… Now, I have renewed respect and appreciation towards Andy Warhol, his history making genius, with vast amount of multimedia exploration. I was disappointed at my work. As more layers added, it looked worse and worse…couldn’t go closer to my initial design. The process was so much challenging for me, physically and technically. As a total beginner I was not modest at all, concerning so much for the outcomes . The opacity control of the color mixing was vital for my project. Hard to get what I wanted. It requires lots of time for testing….as a novice. These prints posted were done last Thursday. I had to rush frantically, to get to this much degree of the finished look. I ran out of time before the school closing for Summer. Now this morning I look at these images after one day break. I am able to be a lot more generous to the outcomes. The first piece with more layers were a boo-boo piece from the beginning by the wrong register. But turned out to be the most interesting. My conclusion: I learned the beauty of print making!!… the process requires peaceful, calm meditative state of mind!! I might like to pursue printmaking further in the future !!!! I need PEACE in my soul. Give up the battle with myself!!! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg4mb1DMttw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
It is amazing!! A colleague from Walt Disney found a Disney-era Little Mermaid painting I did in an antique store recently. About 25 yrs ago. I did the bunch of painting for their "Disney princesses" book series. (at Deco District, San Antonio) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChAhNnkuHFt/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
