So... we’re probably going to stop using this blog. It’ll remain up as an archive, but we have a few reasons to do this.
The primary reason, and basically what’s behind every other reason, is that it kind of stopped being fun. This was the first “your fave x” blog with the joke pride flags and the characters. Then we got popular really quickly, and people started making their own. We don’t have a problem with people copying our format, but it grew even bigger essentially became a meme that has become overused and now everyone is tired of it. We didn’t expect it to get this big, but it did, and now this blog has really lost its funniness and uniqueness because it’s now part of an essentially dead meme.
So filling up the queue started to feel like a chore, because we weren’t really having fun doing this anymore. We didn’t really have the motivation to make sure there was stuff to post every day. There were stretches of days when nothing posted because we didn’t feel like making icons. That’s very different than how it was at the start of the blog.
Also, I think our followers are losing interest too, again because this is part of a dead meme now. We’re getting less notes on our posts than when we started.
We’ve all seen many memes rise and fall, but many of us have never been the ones to start a meme. It’s a strange feeling, like I’m partially responsible for all the blogs this meme has spawned. That’s how I feel at least, and I think the other mods feel similarly.
On top of it all, we’ve started seeing creepy people make similar blogs. I won’t go into details, but the fact that people like that are becoming a part of this trend feels gross, and we almost feel responsible for it...
